RE: (S28) PT1 - Draft Day - gbfn - 04-04-2021 Heinrich Kackpoo was part of the draft class in season 23. At the time of being drafted he was leading the players eligible for the draft in terms of TPE. So many thought that the would have good chances going in the first round. The scouting process was the most fun part leading up to the draft. Many teams were interested and reached out to him. Some teams even sent more than one scout to talk with him. He ended up being pick with the third overall pick by the Honolulu Hahalua. They had a big need at linebacker, and it was a perfect match since Heinrich didn't really want to switch to another position. The GM duo back then was Dwyer and Raven and they decided to start Heinrich right away in the first season of being drafted. Since then he continued to max earn and was finding his role in the team growing into one of the leaders of a now stacked and nasty defense. The start was not easy for the team. Honolulu had troubles and was struggling a bit and failed to reach the playoffs until season 27. After the sim change the Hahalua started to show great performances and finally played their first playoff game. They lost in the first round, but this season they again came out strong with a good 3-1 record after the first quarter of the season. Coming into the league, London was the first team to reach out to me and get me in their locker room. From that point forward, I was hooked. Everyone in London was so active and I knew I would be lucky to get drafted by them. The wait between joining and the draft was an agonizing one, however. Fortunately, all of my fellow S25 rookies in the London locker room kept me active and engaged. When the DSFL draft rolled around I was stoked to go 5th overall, but especially stoked to go to London. Several seasons later, I am one of the co-GM's for the Royals and loving (almost) every minute of it. My ISFL draft was a similar story. There were a multitude of teams I wanted to go to, mainly due to connections from people in London; Colorado, Sarasota, Arizona, Chicago, and others. Fortunately, my former London Royals GM Sylphreni was now positioned at the head of the Yeti front office. He wanted me so badly that Colorado traded up to get me at 5, and once again it was a match made in heaven. The Colorado locker room has been fantastic and I love the community there. Fun fact about my ISFL draft: I actually couldn't watch it live. I got home late and stayed up watching the entire thing. I was dead tired the next day but being able to experience that was worth it. RE: (S28) PT1 - Draft Day - Air Crou - 04-04-2021 Honestly, my most recent draft experience is as painful as it can possibly get. I was part of the most recent expansion class, that of season 25. As a recreate, and a proven max earner and a veteran voice in the locker room, I was expecting to go in the first or the second round. I mean, with fourteen teams per round, not falling below pick 28 is not something to not expect, considering my status. I get it, I have made enemies, I have rubbed people wrong, but for crying out loud, 69? Round FIVE? Are we serious? I really refuse to understand the thought process of some general managers. The position I had created as, a tight end, was not something most teams needed, but passing on a proven veteran multiple times is not something one would do. But anyway, I went to one of the teams I was expecting to go, one of the two expansion teams, the Fire Salamanders of Berlin, despite the "bad blood" between the one half of the GM duo, Dewalt, and I. In the end, it worked. I was pissed for falling so low, but it worked both for the team and me. I am now part of the war room, and on the field, my player is doing their part in the offensive side of the ball, especially after last season's switch to wide receiver, leading the league in touchdowns in 4 games, despite only having 21 receptions and 219 yards. It made me the player I am today and lit a fire under me that continues to burn. Let's discuss, shall we? A few seasons into my ISFL career everyone started hearing whispers about expansion. At this point I was having what I'd call a "so-so" career. No big peaks or valleys, just kind of chugging along. And although it came to me as a surprise at the time I really shouldn't have been shocked that my team, the Honolulu Hahalua, decided not to protect me when expansion arrived. Being unprotected meant it was time to start talking to the new teams. Both Berlin and New York contacted me early and we had really nice conversations. I told each team I would be happy to play for them and would give them my all if I joined their squad. Now imagine my surprise when I was picked first overall! I was curious to see when and if I'd be selected but I never dreamed that I'd be the first pick. I was ecstatic! The New York Silverbacks showed a tremendous amount of faith in me to select me first overall and I've been doing everything in my power to prove to them that they made the right call. My activity level went up immediately and I began to take a more active role on the team. I feel unbelievably fortunate to be a SIlverback and I hope the team feels the same way. RE: (S28) PT1 - Draft Day - xQCFamous - 04-04-2021 Chuggs was on a roller-coaster when it comes to drafting. He joined the DSFL fairly late, and didn't get the same head start on training as others did. As such, he lost out on a lot of points that could've been crucial to his success. While some people had him going in the top 2 rounds, he actually ended up going in the fourth round to New York, but in his eyes, this was a blessing. On draft day after being chosen he had this to say "honestly, I had so many interviews that I thought went amazing. People knew what I was all about, they knew what they were going to be getting out of me as a player, I was very transparent, I was very open and I wanted them to know how committed I was, yet the further I fell, the more I knew those interviews were all bullshit. None of the GM's clearly caught on to what they were passing up on, but that's their problem now...not mine". Chuggs went on to beast it in his first game on Norfolk and he looks forward to the future where he gets to eventually become a Silverback and prove those other GM's that they didn't know what they were doing letting him fall. Will he actually become the next big deal? Or will he flop early on? Watch the NY games to find out I suppose, but I can guarantee you, it'll be the first option, there is no other options in his mind. RE: (S28) PT1 - Draft Day - Tomasnz - 04-04-2021 Chet was drafted to the Baltimore Hawks at the top of the third round, as the 4th LB drafted, the second to Baltimore that season. As a waiver create I was obviously about 60-80 tpe behind some of my fellow LBs in the draft, but frankly. I was more than a. Little disappointed, I think in my heart of hearts I see myself has a second rounder type player and then to not only be one of the last LBs taken this draft, let alone my own new team, it just made it a bit sour. Then there was the destination. I am going to be honest I didn't expect to be drafted to Baltimore. Three seasons on I am incredibly happy there so I am glad that I was drafted there. But it wasn't always the case. And it is never that fun to be drafted to a team that didn't really scout you, not a team that had a very poor reputation at the time. That sense of hollowness around my destination was only further soured when I saw that some of my favourite hopeful destinations, no only passed on me twice but in one instance picked another LB ahead of me. All this was of course poorly tempered by the extremely kind word said by some of the GMs on the stream, none of which I have followed up with or anything of course, but I also just was annoyed. So draft experience not truly amazing. RE: (S28) PT1 - Draft Day - mango8154 - 04-04-2021 My player was drafted in the s28 ISFL draft in the third round pick 2, 30th pick overall to the Austin Copperheads, I didn’t know exactly where I would go, I had a few thoughts, I wanted to get a better draft position than where I got in the DSFL draft which I did, that made me extremely happy. I might of gone to the Butchers cause my old gm CC was there as a GM but that isn’t great logic, another thought was the Berlin salamanders because they followed me on twitter a few days before but that was loose logic to begin with, I wasn’t expecting Austin but then I realized Tonzy and South were apart of the organization it became clearer, I had good talks with them for the DSFL draft, and I obviously left a good impression so it made sense for me to land there, and I’m very happy to be there, it has been a good place for me so far and I’m excited for the future and I hope to help them move towards a successful future, the whole draft experience was made especially fun as I was in a voice chat with some other ducks, like painted, shrub and CLG, it made the whole experience really fun and we were all happy for each other. RE: (S28) PT1 - Draft Day - xenosthelegend - 04-04-2021 During the season 25 ISFL draft I was not scouted by many teams (that I remember), kicker is only a need if you either don't have one, or have a low TPE inactive one. I remember being scouted by Philadelphia late one night while playing league of legends. I won the game, then resumed answering questions. At the time Philadelphia was an absolute dumpster fire, from the massive season 22 draft class, there was only one active earner on the team, everyone else was inactive and low TPE. At the time there were two teams without a kicker, the Yellowknife Wraiths, and the Philadelphia Liberty. A few teams would be needing a kicker soon, but that was for future draft classes. I knew I would end up on one of those two teams by the end of draft night. When draft night finally came things went on as normal for a while. Then Yellowknife made a trade for Blago Kokot, which left the only team needing a kicker to be the Philadelphia (dumpster fire) Liberty. And eventually I did end up there, in the 6th round. When I arrived, Philadelphia was in a nightmare scenario, now the ship has been stabilized by our current GMs and the future looks bright. |
