The fire salamander is unique amongst all the ISFL mascots as it is the only amphibian, yes amphibian not a reptile. What makes it most special location while is the fact it is located solely in Europe unlike any of the other mascots. This calls back to our team’s foreign locale. Much like most salamanders it also secretes a powerful toxin from its skin for defense. Much like how our team secretes a group of players to smother the other team on defense. Going into the more general aspects of a salamander unique amongst other mascots is the fact they come in all different shapes, sizes and colors around the world. From the tiny torrent salamanders to the giant salamanders of Asia with the powerful fire salamander in between, salamanders are a special species. But salamanders are not just biologically special but also mythical. There have been myths spread about them since the days of ancient rome. Mostly related to fire and their ability to resist it, hmm this is starting to sound familiar. There was even myth that they were created from flame and could regenerate limbs. All of this is to say that much like our team this season fire salamanders in real life are also legendary.

So apparently the San Jose Sabercats were an Arena Football League team that existed from 1995 to 2015. I was not aware of this and instead thought it was an original creation until I googled it. Gotta say that this is pretty disappointing. Down to the colors and everything. So I guess it might be safe to assume that our Mascot is the same. The AFL team's mascot is this cat dude named Sabretooth, but I say we add a little bit of extra flair and give him a first name of Jose: Jose Sabretooth, that's right. In Japanese it would be Sabretooth Jose-san so we can attract all the weebs, too. Is that a good thing? I can't say, but money doesn't discriminate.

What makes him special from the rest of the league? Honestly I've never even seen him so I can't say, but I'm hoping that maybe he's something like Jaxson de Ville and can do all kinds of crazy acrobatic shit like flips on a bike or ziplining across the stadium with all kinds of pyrotechnics going off and shit, you know? I kinda hope so 'cause right now we're 1-6 and that'd probably be the only good source of entertainment at the stadium at the moment and if he doesn't deliver, our ticket sales are probably gonna fall 'cause football fans be finicky as shit like that.

The Hahalua is of great importance to the Hawaiian culture, to which we bring into the league in every single game. Before every single game starts if it's at home or at an away game the mascot will come with us to do the Haka. Which is a war ceremonial dance, it is to put fear into our enemies. He gets involved in every way we can bring back and keep our history going. He makes sure that our history is never forgotten and that it's always celebrated. While he may look goofy because he is a mascot, he is the symbol of not just Honolulu culture but all of Hawaii’s culture. He brings every single Hawaiian together. He allows every single Hawaiian to remember the past generations and their celebrations. Their struggles and their hard-fought victories. The Hahalua is of myth and of stories but, to us he is real. He is the symbol for us and our past generations. He is the hope for the future generations. He is the heart and soul of every member of the team and of every single person of Hawaiian descent, he is their future. In summary, Our mascot is Honolulu Hawaii.

Honestly, truthfully, there is no set mascot for the Tijuana Luchadores. We don't really talk about it or have a picture of it or anything. It's kinda left up to us to come up with something. So my pick is Ignacio, also known as Nacho, from Nacho Libre. Yes, that's right. Our mascot is Jack Black in a luchador costume. Why, you ask? Because it just is. He's Jack Black. It's a luchadore. Tijuana Luchadores. It just makes sense. The story of a child of a Scandinavian missionary and a Mexican deacon who both died after he was born is very inspiring to us. He was a cook in the same monastery orphanage he was born in. He wants to become a luchador, but is prevented from doing so by the monastery. After a series of events, he must become a luchador in secret to make money. He overcomes all obstacles and odds and wins the cash prize he needed to support the orphans. And that is why Nacho Libre is our mascot. It is a story of overcoming obstacles and following your heart to do what's right. It is a story of perseverance. That is why it is the best mascot in the league. It gives us the motivation we need to win championships.

The butcher's mascot is not a silly mascot. Hes a man of honor that wears his heels proudly in the tradition of ancient butchers. He wears his apron with the flag of Chicago proudly and with the Florian cross on his shoulder. Tons of foam knives all around that squirt out the cherry-flavored syrup that take the place of blood. You can't really make the "butcher" that kid friendly but you can lean into the important 18-34 demographic with the metal style T-shirts and the meat-eating aspect. Every sack has to come with the chop of some sort of meat on classic butcher block, with the authentic sound of metal hitting hard word ringing out in the arena. pulling off a serious mascot sounds hard or nearly impossible but I don't think it'll be that hard all things considered. The way to be successful in a commercial space is to either be better or be different. The flyers went in a werid direction with a mascott that frankly looks like hes a bunch of garbage. It has no resemblance with the team name, theme, or really any sort of relationship with the team at all. What it did have was a social media wizard who was able to spin the mascot into becoming a hit amonst all fans and somehow is the most popular mascot in modern times.  PK the death loon of Minnesota united fame is a notable model of how to to do a different kind of mascot right as well. Starting very basic in whats basically, a tight suit of black the arms have webbing that resembles feathers allowing him to "flap his wings" with minimal movement and still have full range to do whatever he wants or needs to do. heck how many female mascots are out there? Doesn't seem that hard to see that theres an obvious market for a female butcher covered in cherry-flavored "blood" chopping meat. Players who gets turnovers get a sauced turkey leg to take a big dirty bite out of.

The greatest mascot in the league is the Sailfish of Sarasota. Now, I might be a little biased because I do play for them and was drafted by the Sailfish. It is a majestic fish that can be found in the coast of Florida and in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. It is closely related to the Marlin and Swordfish, they are basically cousins. They grow extremely quickly, getting up to 3-9 feet in one year! That is amazing! In addition, they are really fast. So fast that they could reach speeds of up to 78 mph. That makes them the fastest swimming creatures on Earth. The Sailfish would use the extreme speed to hunt down their prey and strike them with their bill. No other mascot in the ISFL can brag about that. Especially the slow moving Otter of Orange County. The Sailfish is a great representation of the team currently. As a whole, they are robust, swift, nimble and grow quickly which defines the team very well. The Sailfish started out as a little baby fish but now is a fierce competitor in the ISFL. And eventually did become the Ultimus winners. This is what makes the mascot great, on how it relates to the team and its culture.
