(S22) - Ultimus Week - abh89 - 06-04-2020 Tier 2 - Task 8: This task is exclusive to non-recreate rookies of the S22 class and later. In 400 words or more, how has your experience been in the league? Who have you met that has made your time here more fun, friendly, and exciting? Have you been satisfied with your player’s early start? What was it like being drafted for the first time? Do you have any comments or suggestions for the entire league that you think should be implemented? As a new player that created shortly before the S22 Ultimus and Ultimini, I initially felt a bit overwhelmed during the creation process and the first couple of days to follow. The layout of the league forum and the location of relevant links was very helpful though in guiding me to the information I needed when I needed it. One specific tool I found helpful was the player creation tool as it made it easy to distribute my first 50 TPE. Unfortunately, even with all this information, I was still stuck in an internal debate with myself regarding which position to choose for my player. Once I had settled on a choice though, I was able to find the Rookie Point Tasks and dove right in. I found it fun trying to make sure I was getting the most out of the tasks that were available to me to generate TPE for my player. Not long after I had submitted my Player Update page and added some TPE updates to it, I began hearing from DSFL scouts and GMs wanting to know more about me and my plans for my player. For me, this is really where the fun began. I found myself being invited into the locker rooms of several DSFL teams to get to know the other players and get a feel for their environment. I have really enjoyed this part of this process and found that I have a lot in common with many of the players I have met along the way. I’ll withhold any names at this time as I don’t want to make any potential impact to any draft boards or strategies out there, but there hasn’t been a player I have met so far that has not been helpful whenever I have needed it. I have been pretty satisfied with the progress I have made with my player and I hope it pays off once I am able to hit the field. As the draft approaches though, I have found myself getting more excited as I wait to find out which DSFL team I will be selected by and how high I will ultimately go. Based on my experience so far, I know I will have a good time no matter what. I will be taking notes on which teams pass up on me though and I will be on a mission to make them regret it. (S22) - Ultimus Week - SwankyPants31 - 06-04-2020 Tier 2 - Task 6: I think the Tijuana Luchadores are in a good spot to be able to make a second straight Ultimini run next season. Even with the departure of Bagel from the GM position, we have solid leadership in place between Jay Doctor and Mithrandir. The biggest concern, which exists for everybody, is the incoming inactive player purge that’s going to be happening at the start of the season. Since all inactive players will be ineligible to be placed on the depth chart, a lot of teams are going to lose some players that earned over or close to the cap before going inactive and never being called up. While in Tijuana we were able to win with a mostly active roster, we definitely did have some help from some inactive players, particularly at the Safety and Linebacker positions. Given that most of our success was based on our offense last season though, I think we’ll be mostly in good shape compared to some other teams. Firstly at quarterback, with Ben Slothlisberger and Jim Waters both capped at TPE I believe both will stay for another season. Given that they were drafted by New Orleans and Honolulu respectively and neither NSFL team had a quarterback retire, I think this is a safe bet. At the running back position, whether or not I, Richard Gilbert, get called up is still a bit up in the air. Regardless of that though, the aptly named Running Back is set and almost guaranteed to return for a second season as the NSFL is currently a log jam at the position. Running Back is coming off a season where he led the DSFL in rushing touchdowns as a rookie, so even if Gilbert gets called up I like to think I’ll be leaving the team in good hands. The biggest question mark on offense is at our receiver position, and who may be called up. Vequain I’ve already pretty much written off as being called up, but our other two active receivers Kingston and Howlett I’m more unsure of. I’m willing to admit it’s more likely that they won’t be called up, but it’s going to come down to where they end up getting drafted to, as I could see either getting called up in a pinch. Our biggest area of concern is our defense. Hexagon and Valdyr will both likely be getting called up, meaning with the rookie purge Bane will be the only non-bot defensive back on the team, but I don’t think even he can be considered safe at this point. With all the current and upcoming holes on defense, I believe the Luchadores will have a very defense focused draft. Tier 2 - Task 8: As an S22 non-recreate rookie, my experience in the league so far has been incredible. All the way from the process of creating my player to now having completed my second season it’s been extremely fun and I wouldn’t give it up for anything. Everyone in both the Tijuana Luchadores and Colorado Yeti locker room has been extremely friendly, supporting, and helpful to me as I learn about the league and sim engine behind our games. Specifically Jay Doctor and FleshBagSoup in Tijuana have been extremely helpful, and I couldn’t have asked for a better pair of GMs to start my journal into the NSFL with. During that S22 DSFL draft Ben Slothlisberger (also known as slothfacekilla) was our first pick, and he has been a leader in our locker room since day one. He had been on the team before, and had already been elected captain but even before I knew that to be a fact I always saw him as sort of a captain to our class. Outside of Sloth, we had a few really heavy hitters that have all kept in touch and still hang out in the Tijuana locker room from time to time. Mithrandir is our new GM after Bagel stepped down, and I think he’s an excellent choice as he has proven to have a head for the game and is always thinking of ways to improve not only our team but the league as a whole. Jpach, who plays as LiterallyJust A. Hexagon has been in my opinion one of the coolest people out of the entire draft class. He has already gotten heavily involved in the league and has multiple jobs, including being involved in the sim and streaming teams. He was a little quiet at first, but once he got some help and figured everything out he took off like a rocket. Of course everyone on the Yeti has been extremely helpful too. Woelkers was one of the first people to reach out to me while scouting and I believe the only GM to have an actual conversation with me rather than just send me a questionnaire. He’s also kept me in the loop regarding the team’s plans involving me and what I should work on in my player build. Really the only complaints I have about the league are around the way awards and the pro bowl are implemented. A suggestion that I personally think would help this time of year would be to hide the number of votes each pro bowl player received. It’s really disheartening to me when I see some of the league leaders make the pro bowl, only to complain about how they weren’t unanimous or other such nonsense. (S22) - Ultimus Week - Naosu - 06-04-2020 Tier 2 Task 7 I’m very happy with the start to Goku’s career, it’s been amazing. I managed to fluke out an Ultimini with Myrtle Beach waiver claiming me for the end of S21. For S22 after being drafted to Kansas City who were the runners up the previous season, they didn’t do too well. They tied for last in the league due to being gutted from call ups. Fortunately to myself, this had no impact on Goku’s individual performance. As a DE my stat line during my first full season was: 85 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 2/1 FF/FR, and 9 sacks. With this I went on to win the Defensive Lineman of the Year award. I also received a nomination for Defensive Player of the Year, but was strangely left off the ballot for Defensive Rookie of the Year. I can only guess my year was so great that the awards committee didn’t realize I was a rookie. From here, I hope to be an early call up to the NSFL starting next season. It seems like as a DE, this is the likely case for most teams that would draft me. Although if I’m back down in the DSFL I would hope to defend my award title next season and take another crack at defensive player of the year. Moving up to the NSFL early might hurt my stats initially but it gives me more time to work towards long term goals. First and foremost, my biggest and most obvious goal is winning the Ultimus. I will do what I can as a user to give myself the best chance at winning one over Goku’s career. Next, I have basic but difficult, and also a silly goal to complete at least once each over my career. The basic one is to score a touchdown as a defensive player. It might never happen but it’s something I’ll hope for. My silly goal is to get a sack on Chika Fujiwara at some point, assuming Baltimore doesn’t draft me. After these ones, I have all long term goals that would be a cherry on top. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to have a Hall of Fame career as it would depend more on sim luck, but this would be my second favorite thing to happen aside from an Ultimus win. I hope at the least to be top 10 in some DE stats by the end of my career. The position doesn’t seem too populated and maybe as a strong earner I’ll be able to make this happen. Tier 2 Task 8 I’ve been here for about two and a half months so far and it’s been a great experience overall. Being my third league I’ve taken a less serious approach and it’s been a blast. I’m actually more active overall in the community in NSFL over PBE due to hanging out in the league discord sometimes. I feel that creating as Goku will keep me more interested in the league, especially as there is a few other Dragonball renders. I’ve met some new people and been able to interact with other that I’d seen around other leagues but never talked to much. Big shoutout to the guys at KCC, they’re doing a great job. @`Jackets28` @Buttersqauch101 @Matty7478 I enjoy the atmosphere there and feel like there’s stuff I could learn to improve my SMJHL team’s LR. Huge thank you to Butters for going to bat for me over the DROTY award. As I’m not familiar with football, I can’t exactly comprehend how well I did, all I know is I had an exceptional season. It’s also been a pleasure to share a team with @dieselj123 He’s the pitcher I look up to in PBE and I’ve enjoyed being able to chat with him. The DSFL draft was a great time. I was sad that not every team scouted me, but I guess they assumed I already had ties to Myrtle Beach at the time and didn’t want to touch me. Heading into this draft, it would be my fourth sim league draft. I didn’t bother to push to raise my draft stock, and instead tried to lower it so I would fall a little. I suppose it worked as I’ve gone first round in each of my previous drafts, but slid to 15th overall in the second round for the DSFL draft. I took a similar approach when dealing with NSFL scouts but it doesn’t look like I’ll make it out of the first round. I really loved the production of the draft, it’s great to watch. The draft for this league is hands down the best from a viewer’s perspective of each league I’m in. For stuff to implement I will take this opportunity to plug the stuff I try to be vocal about. Please get rid of the admin approval before posting upon account creation. I feel like there must be a story behind this as nowhere else has it, but it’s annoying and a potential deterrent for new players. Also please bring back 2x media for us peasants without real jobs. I understand it was abused in the past but a simple implementation of like a 750 or 1000 word minimum and it can be fixed. (S22) - Ultimus Week - ckroyal92 - 06-04-2020 PBE CW (S22) - Ultimus Week - White Cornerback - 06-04-2020 Hello and welcome to Ultimus Week for the NSFL Season 22! You will have ten days to complete the Ultimus Week point task, so the deadline will be June 4th, 2020 at 11:59PM EDT. Let’s try something a little different, shall we? Please read the rules carefully. Rules: 1) The entire structure of Ultimus Week has been revamped. As before, you can earn up to a maximum of 10 TPE through any combination of the available tasks. 2) There are three tiers of point tasks available for completion. The first tier is a written assignment for 10 TPE, the second is a written assignment for 5 TPE each, and the third is a written/graphics assignment for 2.5 TPE each. You can pick and choose tasks from any tier for a maximum of 10 TPE. 3) Each option from the first tier has a word count requirement of 800, each option from the second tier has a word count requirement of 400, and each written option from the third tier has a word count requirement of 200. Word counts will be graded using the forum’s built-in word counter. Shooting for 400/800 even is a dicey prospect, and can lead to partial or no credit given. 4) Graphics must be more than text on an image - it is Ultimus week, show Ultimus effort. It is up to the grader’s discretion to give credit, so don’t give us a reason to deny you TPE. 5) We are keeping the podcast option for Tier 1 and 2 written tasks ONLY. Since the word count requirement is double that of previous seasons, a podcast must include 20 minutes of discussion for Tier 1 and 10 minutes of discussion for Tier 2 about the selected topic. If you make a podcast with someone else, it must be 20/10 minutes apiece. 6) As it is too hard and complicated to time the podcast for media money and task credit, a podcast done for Ultimus Week cannot earn media credit. Record another podcast if you want the money. 7) You may use a PBE, SHL, and GOMHL PT as credit for a maximum of 1 TIER 3 TASK here. 8) Affiliate PT must be from this week, 5/25 to 5/31, to get credit. 9) Affiliate PT must be the actual task, but not a link for welfare credit. 10) As always, these tasks can be written about either the NSFL or the DSFL. 11) With longer word tasks comes a higher risk of fluffing up your submission in order to meet a longer requirement. Keep in mind that these tasks will be graded closely. Take this opportunity to truly get creative, not try to skate on with minimal effort. Tier 1: Long Form Tasks (800+ words) Choose ONE for 10 TPE. 3) Write 800 words or more on something that interests you. It could be related to statistics, to a league issue you take seriously, or a niche part of history that doesn’t fit neatly into either of the above categories. This must be directly related to the league, so don’t wax 800 words about your team’s Werewolf server. Be warned that freedom comes with risk, and this category will be judged especially stringently for anyone trying to spew complete nonsense. Over the last 3-4 ish months or so I've found myself losing interest in the league. I've found myself fluctuating wildly from seemingly smaller things that in the past wouldn't really set me off in the usual day to day lifestyle. I've come to a point where I'm three years into the league and I've made the decision at the end of the 4th year to just hang it up and leave for good. There used to be a time where I liked the wikipedia project the most out of anything but I still liked everything else to a degree. I don't really feel the same for it anymore, I like really just the Wiki and that's it. I don't watch the streams of the games, I rarely check in the LR for days at a time, I've left the general chat because I've acknowledge that it isn't worth it. I've been able to recognise myself as just becoming worse and undoing everything that I've tried to fix for the last two years after the long period of depression and worse. But I don't really like the engagement with people anymore on here, I don't like the pre-regular or offseason, the drafts, the awards (oh god I hate the awards) or the salt. I think it's time that I eventually fuck off from here soon because it's my last league. The only thing holding me here is that I hate quitting on anything when there's still life to live. Lavelle Jr sucks mega donkey cock but I'm unable to retire early, I physically cant. As much as I dread logging on and doing whatever the flavor of the week is for the PT, I find myself compelled to do it. This is how it felt in the SHL for me for about 2 years, I was just there to be there. Back on topic though, I only enjoy the wikipedia. I realise that the majority of the pricks on this site don't and that's fine with me because I don't have to listen to your feedback out of choice but also out of necessity because generally these same whiners aren't actually helping or creating anything to do with the wikipedia. I don't need to listen to the whiny voices outside of the whiny ones that do matter. I believe without a shred of doubt that the wiki project is one of the most unique project you'll find in any of these sim leagues and that's by design. I enjoy reading through records, gauging players careers, seeing what changed, who did what and all of that. For a large part of time I enjoyed interacting with the users behind the player too, I dont anymore. I do to an extent because there are a grouping that I enjoy engaging with being on either my team or within the wiki circle. I've become more bitter as of late and in an attempt to revert the process, I've just outright blocked the people I don't want to hear from. There was a time where it was easier for me to just not respond or react to stuff and go on with my day but that was different, that was when I enjoyed the league for what it was. I dont enjoy dropping into that cycle anymore to be honest with you. For me at this point the wikipedia is my safe haven, where I can remain and slowly tick by on progressing it forward as a whole. With the help of the people we've recently hired and the absolute dogs that some guys there are in terms of their work ethic. I know you probably don't give a fuck about the wikipedia project but to be honest with you it was never built for YOU to enjoy it. It was built solely for the people building it to enjoy it, those who enjoyed the kayfabe, the lore and the stories that led to everything, the background, the setting, the expansive story that surrounded every league aspect. Meta or not. That's what the wiki was built for. It wasn't built for you as much as you whine, bitch and moan about it. You never helped out, you never created anything, you never added anything to the discussion which is just as well because you never had any intention to aid it. The Wikipedia project is the most unique thing in any of the sim leagues and you won't find anything close. No portal, no tools, no shoddy history section that's centered around a single google doc. I love the NSFL Wiki, like anybody who's ever used PFR for hours at a time or played any GM game, I love the stats, the history, the points, the games for fuck sakes even the Orange County Otters dominance. Not because of the salt it harvests but just because of the extent of the history being made, I like looking at the season and even if Austin doesn't win, to me that's fine because that's another year for Franklin Armstrong to win another title and surpass Mike Boss at the very top as the GOAT. If you're not interested in those who came before you and set the yardstick, I can't understand your comprehension for being here. Outside of course of the user engagement but if you're here for as long as I've been that will soon fade. When the salt builds, the cycle continues, the botched rulings, the early mistakes, the gigantic blunders eat away at your enjoyment bit by bit. The whole thing is incomplete and that's by the very nature of the beast. Even if we had unlimited volunteers or workers today, you'd never ever finish it. All you can do is try to update the sections people visit the most through the forum redirects and try your best to maintain or add the rest. The NSFL WIKI might not be the greatest thing ever but it's a million miles better than the majority of the shit you see around here and if you disagree then I ain't engaging. (S22) - Ultimus Week - RussDrivesTheBus - 06-04-2020 Tier 1) Option 3) September 22, 2019 – The Update that unknowingly changed the future of the entire league. On that day, user PigSnout officially updated Franklin Armstrong’s speed stat to 79. But Russ, how could that possibly change anything for the whole league? Strap in, reader, because we’re going for a ride. By now, you may have heard rumblings about the “Game Manager 79 Speed” Quarterback combo going around the league. If not, I’ll do my best to explain what has been going on. There seems to be a phenomenon being explored currently within the sim that allows a Quarterback with the Game Manager archetype and a 79-speed stat to absolutely break the game. A couple members of the league have taken notice and changed their Quarterback to match this trend, as the impact it has on win rate is absurd. The most notable example of that this season was the listless Austin Copperheads. After six weeks of play, they were looking at a horrific record of 1-4-1, with little to no chance of turning it around. But then, the giant brains of iStegosauraz and TimeConsumer took a shot on something. After some discussion, Steg did some sim testing with Cole’s archetype and stats changed to have the 79 speed and Game Manager archetype. The results were astonishing. Once the changes were made for real, Austin did not lose another game in the regular season. They squeaked into a playoff spot as the 3rd seed in the AFSC, and dispatched the Secondline in New Orleans. But Russ, if this combo is so broken, why didn’t they win the Ultimus? Well, that’s because they ran into the originator of this super power in their next matchup. Franklin’s Otters have been to the playoffs every season he’s been with them. Slight disclaimer: The Otters have never missed the playoffs. However, Armstrong’s run has been a bit more dominant. By most estimations, he was a hair short of taking home his 4th league MVP award at the end of this season, which would have tied him for the most in the history of the league, and would’ve been his 4th in a row. He has clearly been a dominant force in this league, as most are familiar, especially if they play fantasy football. He has almost single-handedly led many rosters to that sweet sweet TPE prize for the past 4 seasons. His dominance has been marked by not only incredible Quarterbacking, but an uncharacteristically amazing mobility. Armstrong, who should be nicknamed “Legstrong,” rushed for 720 yards and 6 touchdowns, just this year. While those totals aren’t necessarily incredible for a Running Back, the Otters are getting that production from their Quarterback. The staggering part of this stat-line, is the way in which he gained these yards. The second highest yards per carry in the league this year for players with more than 100 carries, is 4.9. Armstrong, who carried the ball 106 times, averaged 6.8 yards every time he carried the ball! That is simply mind boggling! If you watched the Otters on stream this year, you saw his abilities on display, in some less-than-realistic situations. Armstrong routinely broke off huge runs after his player would roll out of the pocket and shake around for a bit. I’ve seen the phrase “spooky” thrown around willy-nilly all over the league, but this is truly the closest to a “spooky” occurrence as we get. You could basically set your watch to a huge Armstrong run every single week. In 12 out of 13 regular season games, Armstrong’s had a rush of 12 or more yards. The only time he didn’t reach that mark was in the Otters’ Week 12 loss to the San Jose SaberCats. If you average out his longest rushes, you end up with being able to reasonably assume that Armstrong was capable of pulling out a 26-yard rush, every game. His crown jewel this year was the 66-yard touchdown run he ripped off at the start of the second half of their Week 7 trouncing of the eventual Ultimus Champion Yeti. The game was within reach for the Yeti coming into the half, but Armstrong dashed all hope with his ridiculous run. With his 79 speed, he was able to burst through the line and absolutely sprint away from the entire Yeti secondary. If you watch the play casually, you’d just assume it was one of their Running Backs breaking it off. But somehow, his speed was enough to see him pull away from players like Thor Kirky and Louisiana Purchase, both of which have 100 speed. And before mention of endurance is brought up, please remember this was basically the first play of the half, since the real first play was another Armstrong rush that was called back for a penalty. The play is at the 1:08:44 mark in the Week 6&7 stream, if you want to see it again. This free form analysis is just the tip of the iceberg. I believe this combo is dangerous for the league’s future, as it is going to centralize the “meta” of the game, which leads to a lack of variation. That is something that can absolutely kill a league. I think this combo should be looked at internally, and a compromise should be reached in order to keep the league in a healthy place. Thank you for coming to my TED talk. (S22) - Ultimus Week - WannabeFinn - 06-04-2020 Tier 3 (2.5 TPE each): SHL affiliate (S22) - Ultimus Week - Jason - 06-04-2020 Code: Selflessness is one thing, but ultimately everyone wants to hear their own player’s name mentioned among the greats. Take some time, in 400 words or more, and discuss how your player’s (or past player’s) career is going so far. Are you matching any expectations you set out for yourself? Do you see yourself on a potentially award winning or Hall of Fame career trajectory? If your player is just starting out, what goals and visions do you have for yourself? Personally, I don't really have any complaints about how my player's career is going so far. It's the first time I created a player in the league and so I don't really have the knowledge that I do in other leagues when it comes to building the optimal player build. That's why I've been asking around to people that have been here a while and some that have also had CB builds to really feel what I should be upgrading on a regular basis. I think my career got off to a start in which I was frustrated that I didn't go any higher in the draft. I felt like I did everything that I could to showcase myself to teams to the best of my ability but ultimately, that wasn't enough. I felt that if everyone was going to pass up on me, the team that was going to draft me was going to get a max earner. I'm glad it ended up being the Minnesota Grey Ducks because I was already in the locker room and was introduced to the team so it didn't take me long to get going once I was back on the team for good. I think my first full season was just average, I know I could've done a lot better because I was seeing my peers around the league producing at a very solid level for their teams and I was just average. I wanted to at least get a few interceptions in my first season and that was a goal that I had set in my head before the season had started but unfortunately, I wasn't able to get any. I was even able to get my first career sack in the postseason before I made an interception, which is definitely weird for me. I'm really hoping that next season I can really improve in the offseason and become one of the best CBs in the recent draft classes. I'm not sure if I'm going to be sent down or anything yet but some teams have been talking about potentially keeping me up right away which is a very exciting challenge for me. My main goal is to win a championship with the team that drafts me in the NSFL and that is my primary goal. I want to reward the team with my defensive abilities and to be able to win something with them would be the icing on the cake. If I do end up getting any awards or anything like that, it will only prove that my hard work paid off. But I'm aiming for championships. Code: 438 words Code: This task is exclusive to non-recreate rookies of the S22 class and later. In 400 words or more, how has your experience been in the league? Who have you met that has made your time here more fun, friendly, and exciting? Have you been satisfied with your player’s early start? What was it like being drafted for the first time? Do you have any comments or suggestions for the entire league that you think should be implemented? To be completely honest, I have had a very fun time in the league so far. I was debating whether or not to join the NSFL in the first place simply because I didn't want to be in too many sim leagues at the same time. But with everything that's happened with quarantine, I wanted to challenge myself and see if I was able to have productive players in multiple leagues. It's always tough to start an account on a new website because there's always people that have been here for a long time and they have huge bank accounts and so that's why I'm always reluctant to join a league. But I think it was very easy to get started with my player and earn money that I felt it would be pretty competitive when it came to earning. Even though some players would buy equipment for a large chunk of money while I can't afford it, the gap isn't as wide. Plus, football has so many multiple player positions to choose from that you can basically be anything that you want. When I first started off, I would say that Dewalt was probably the person that made it the most fun for me. He decided to pick me up on waivers and even though I didn't get to touch the field or anything, I was always able to have a conversation with him about what sort of goals I should aim for with my player and ways to get the best out of my player. I think I connected with BenDover quickly because we both support the Ravens and so it was easy to talk to someone that shares that same passion with you. Everyone on the Grey Ducks team, whether it was veterans that were being sent down or rookies that had been drafted with me, was nice to me and the locker room was so active that I always had excitement when I checked the discord, especially on game day. I was hoping for my player to be a little more productive in my first season. I was usually getting a couple of tackles a game whereas the other players in the secondary were getting interceptions but I knew coming in as a rookie that I had a role to play on the defense and I think I did that pretty well. Going into the drafted, I felt like I had been shafted a little bit because I thought I was going to go a little higher in the draft and after everyone passed up on me, I made it my mission to never miss a point task and update so that I could rub it in everyone's face. Code: 453 words (S22) - Ultimus Week - Moosecop - 06-04-2020 Tier 2 6) It’s always important to look forward to the future. Examine your team, and in 400 words or more, talk about how they can improve themselves to get a stab at trophy contention next year. Are you loaded with draft capital for the next draft? Do you have plenty of cap space to sign free agents? Go through the roster and note the different strengths and weaknesses, and how you think those will change over the next few seasons. How should your team adapt? I have been talking about this for the past few seasons in point tasks and past championship weeks, but the Arizona Outlaws are finally officially creeping into their championship window. If I remember correctly, we won't have anyone in regression this offseason which means our team can only improve and we have active players at literally every position except for filling out the entire offensive line, while we do have a few very active players there. Awards were just handed out last night and while no one on the Outlaws actually won any awards, the fact that we had a player or two nominated for almost every single award while the team remains incredibly young is very promising. On the offensive side of the ball, we will still be lead by one of the best quarterbacks in the league in the god that is Jay Cue. He's a multi-multi-multi-sport athlete but in the fall he decides to come around to Arizona to dominate the NSFL. He nearly won an MVP in his rookie season and now that we have finally managed to fill the offense with reliable weapons again, I have no doubt in my mind that he can get back to the form he showed then. Those weapons include Saba Donut as his WR1, Jah Bur-Berry as a WR2, and the rookie Thomas Passmann at WR3. Donut lead the league in receiving yards this past season and he is showing no signs of slowing down on that front. Cue will also have a great tight end option in Heath Evans, who just had a fantastic rookie season for the Outlaws and finished 3rd in TE of the year voting. Obviously, we can't forget about the big men up front and the little man in the back. Bruce Buckley came 3rd in OL of the year voting, also as a rookie, and he'll have his partner in crime, Calvin Golladay, protecting Cue and opening running lanes for up-and-coming tailback Baby Yoda. The offense is only starting to show it's true colors and next season I think they take a real leap forward. The Outlaws defense was what really shined for us this past season, and again, can really only get better since they are all so young. Shane Masters and Plop Miller both got votes for DT of the year and made life hell for opposing tailbacks and quarterbacks by racking up a combined 19 sacks and 10 TFL. This is running a little too long now so I'm going to trail off real quick. Keep an eye out for my player Galf Wilf and his linebacking duo, Stanisław "Big Stan" Koniecpolski, to continue to terrorize QBs and running backs and help make our already talented secondary look even better by forcing pressure. Tier 2 7) Selflessness is one thing, but ultimately everyone wants to hear their own player’s name mentioned among the greats. I'm going to briefly talk about my first player, Bucky Barnes before I start talking about my current player. When I created him, I wanted to make a Jamal Adams type player, someone who could do it all from basically any position on the defense while technically being listed as a safety. Unfortunately, he ended up playing at an above-average rate and getting sort of close to resembling Adams, in my opinion, but he was never quite good enough to be considered one of the top safeties in the league at really any point of his career. He only managed to get selected to 2 Pro Bowls in his 11-year career and the only personal award he won at the NSFL level was a Defensive Rookie of the Year in S9. All in all, on a personal level, kind of disappointing for the amount of work I put into him. Luckily, he did manage to win the big one in a huge upset victory in the S16 Ultimus Game with the Arizona Outlaws, so that is a great consolation for what was just a slightly above-average career. As for Galf Wilf, I feel like he has just come into the league in a very hyper-competitive part of the league's history. In my opinion, he has put on some fantastic performances in his brief 3-year career in the NSFL but has just been slightly outshone by some otherworldly numbers from his contemporaries. In S20, his rookie season, he was near the top of the league in total tackles, had a fair number of sacks and TFLs, but lost out on the defensive rookie of the year to Idlewyld who lead the league in TFLs as a rookie. An amazing feat. In S21, Wilf had a season that I personally thought was good enough for a Pro Bowl selection. He had 8 sacks, a TFL, 8 passes defended, and a pick; it really seemed like those numbers should have been good enough but I guess the voters felt otherwise as he was left off the team again. This past season Wilf finally managed to get the monkey off his back and make this season's ASFC Pro Bowl team in addition to getting a vote or 2 for linebacker of the year. I didn't expect to be winning any personal awards this early in his career but it is nice that he is starting to get recognized for his efforts and make it onto the ballot. Hopefully, he can keep up his career trajectory and continue to improve to the point that he will keep getting selected to the Pro Bowl, eventually win a linebacker of the year, and eventually win the big game at the end of the year a few times. (S22) - Ultimus Week - Garnuk - 06-04-2020 Tier 2 7) Selflessness is one thing, but ultimately everyone wants to hear their own player’s name mentioned among the greats. I am Garnuk. I am also known as Woodrow Brooks. I am a simple season 24 defensive end create with big dreams. By the end of my career however I will be so much more than a defensive end. Currently my career is off to a perfect start. Coming into the league I expected to create a player, maybe get signed off of waivers and earn an invite into the prospect bowl to play for my childhood Hampton Waterdogs. I’ve accomplished every goal I could have at this point. Coming up next for me is the DSFL draft. To the shock of no one I am the consensus 1oa pick in the draft and am excited to begin my playing career. I already have 82 TPE acquiring 32 TPE by sheer will and skill despite my rookie season having yet to have occurred. My goals and visions for myself are as follows. I will get drafted in the DSFL. I will help my DSFL team win and be a fun guy in the locker room. This fun and skilled guy will slowly build his name for himself as a prospect. Soon the NSFL will start keeping an eye on my career. Eventually I plan on succeeding and getting drafted. Maybe even earlier then round 5 pick 6 unlike that scrub Zamir. Continuing with my goals I see myself as a terrifying Defensive Player. Think Mo Berry but on the Defensive Line and even better. As my career continues I start to rack up a few awards. A nomination for DROTY here, a nomination for DPOTY there but never a win. After my 9th season I have yet to win an individual award. It is eating me up inside. I go to the casino determined to drown my sorrows with money. Slowly but surely Woodrow is going broke. He is losing his once solid career to massive amounts of debt and a once impressionable young star is now a jaded useless vet. Even his twitter account can't pay for his addiction. With all hope lost he applies for a league job in need of money. In a move made entirely out of pity the league allows him to join the sim team and help out where he can. Woodrow never thought he might actually get the job. The old tired 33 year old that is Woodrow has hope. He pours his heart and soul into his league job and he is actually doing better. His debt is being paid off and he is even less cancerous in the locker rooms of the league then he once was. Woodrow keeps at it having more fun than he ever had playing by helping the league prosper. Its S42 and Woodrow is now even a member of head office. He had a controversial career but when it is all said and done he has done a good job on the server. BUT WAIT, It is S42 awards and as he watches the award show come to a close they begin to announce the most dedicated member Woodrow reads the name garnuk as a nominee. So badly he wants it to be true but he cant. His eyes must be deceiving him. But no its true it really says garnuk. He wants to believe so badly. And then so quickly they announce the winner. Garnuk most dedicated member S42. That son of a bitch Woodrow finally did it. He finally got an individual award. |
