Sheed Thebaw has lost his mind. Let's look at the facts. The dude comes in hot and bothered and wants to make a difference in the league. He grinds TPE like its gonna run out and tweets on the regular to earn cash. Every written PT gets done, hell, he even puts in the work for the 1.5x week and writes some bullshit articles that nobody reads. Real life gets busy, so he takes some time off, and loses all interest in the league in general. Then he emerges from the darkness, starts tweeting again, gets drafted by the Wraiths in the big leagues. The tweets he sends are about staying in shape and training hard, but then they start to make less and less sense, and he attacks players on Twitter with the weirdest challenges anyone has ever read. Is it even humanly possible to eat 22 Bloomin' Onions in under 24 hours? It's gonna take one of you jabroni's to attempt it before we find out. 98 feet is a long distance to throw a tennis ball, even for some "hot shot" quarterback. His wiki has been updated and he is even writing out this PT for a measly 3TPE. All I know is, if Sheed is losing his mind, its a good thing for the Wraiths, as he is going to do everything he can to ensure that championship finds it's way back to the North. Based on the above FACTS, Wraiths make it to the playoffs despite everyone counting us out, and we win.

While only one game has been played so far in the DSFL this season, I can unequivocally say that the Kansas City Coyotes will not make the DSFL playoffs this year. This article is not meant to beat up or rag on the team or their players, just an analysis of their game stats so far into the season and the presentation of an argument for this opinion.

The first area to address for the Coyotes would be their rushing attack. The rushing attack, which is split between Kitchens and Tutankhamun, shows these backs getting an equal amount of carries with Kitchens being the clear better rusher. However, Kitchens being the best rusher is overshadowed by the fact that this two-headed attack can't even muster 100 yards on the ground.

This lack of a ground game then puts a heavier burden on the passing attack. Not feeling threatened by the Coyotes rush attack, the Buccaneers were able to key in on the Coyotes quarterback Peterson. Peterson had a less than stellar day completing 20 of 37 passes for 147 yards and an interception leading to an average of 7.4 yards per pass. Peterson's number one receiver was his running back, Tutankhamun, which illustrates the lack of ability the Coyotes being able to attack downfield with any serious threat.

On the other side of the ball, the Coyotes safety was the game's best Defensive player with eight tackles and a sack. The defense allowing 33 points and the safety being the player of the game shows how many holes are in the Coyotes defense and adds to the difficulty the teams will face making the playoffs. With the addition of their offensive woes, it does make the Kansas City Coyotes a longshot for the DSFL playoffs, but all of this analysis may be too soon with only one game having been played on their schedule. Time will have to tell if they can turn their lousy week one luck around or if it will be a trend for their season.

I want to argue why the contracts system in this league doesn’t work great, and why we need to overhaul the cap system to make contracts more valuable. Right now, a lot of people in the league seem concerned that the biggest issue facing the ISFL is how devalued contracts are. In the real NFL, contracts are at least the number 2 consideration in all player decisions, largely because they are a huge source of income and teams never have enough cap space to sign everyone to whatever contracts they want. You would expect this would be true in a simulation league as well, however in this league players are incentivized to take minimum contracts under the belief that it grants their team flexibility in free agency and because they can earn more money through consistent media, twitter, jobs, and graphics. However, I think one of the biggest problems with contracts is how low value they are to begin with. Most contracts in this league range between 2 million and 4 million. This is not even enough money to pay for weekly training every week, let alone purchase any equipment. As a result, players start from the point of view that the contract is not a key source of income. If we raise the cap, and raise contracts proportionally, they will be more valuable by nature of being, well, more valuable. A 10 million dollar contract versus a 4 million dollar contract suddenly creates a target worth negotiating for, because that money can actually be used for something. I think this is the simplest and most effective way to deal with the devaluation of contracts by the community.

There are many things about this league that I enjoy. I have stuck around for nearly a full year since creating my first player and am currently involved in the DSFL Head Office and have my recreate playing for Kansas City this season. The DSFL does not get enough attention in the league. I understand that for most players it is merely a blip on their radar as they look towards their longer-term ISFL teams and potential future greatness. Because players spend the vast majority of their time at the ISFL level, the DSFL understandably gets less attention and sometimes even faces some negative attention that I think is underserved. The DSFL receiving less attention is not inherently a bad thing, but I believe that sometimes it can have some negative effects on the players who are new to the league. The evidence that people sometimes generally dislike the DSFL is readily available. Pings for DSFL games in the league's general server tend to have negative reactions, such as clowns, nauseated faces, the poop emoji, and similar reactions. A recent rule proposal sought to allow for players to have the option to bypass the DSFL and go straight to the ISFL after creation. Weekly predictions only feature the ISFL teams. For players who have been around for a while, this is fine since most of them probably know more about the league, but for players who have never gone to an ISFL team this can feel frustrating as you have no opportunity to get TPE by making predictions about your own league. I know this would add some work to the PT team and may require some creating tweaking of how TPE is distributed, but I would love to see season predictions and weekly predictions for DSFL teams. Perhaps players must opt in to one or the other and must maintain that choice throughout the season. I'm not sure it's a perfect answer, but I think it may be a first step. And if you're one of the people negatively reacting to the DSFL stream announcements, please think for a few moments about how it may look to our valuable new users to be seeing that kind of negative attention on their games. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

Why London may have to wait until next season to win the Ultimini again

Last season the Royals romped to victory in the Ultimini and this was clearly down to the excellent core of players assembled over two seasons.  Domine, Light, Thorbjornsson, Andrews, Elephant, J'vathon, Jones, Ruschmann and Crunk being just some of the key contributors… in total there more than ten players not returning to London to defend the Ultimini.  And you’ll have noticed that that’s a lot of first round picks right there.

Now sure, London have been able to keep hold of big name players such as Cortez, Cadaire, Michell, MVP Wadham, Alexander, Yaki and yours truly L’Gazzy Burfict.  These are players in some key positions on the field.  Having a great QB helps a lot but he’s lost his experienced WRs and may look to the talents of Michell and Yaki to make up progress down the field.  Burfict will need to step up and be an example to new partner Sarrasin, without Domine and Light there to rack up the stats he’s the main man now.

I know it’s early doors saying this but there has been another strong draft class picked to head over to the UK.  I mentioned Sarrasin but rookies such as DE Lover (who has already hit 200 TPE) and WR Speedman (177 TPE) are going to make great contributions and with a little bit of sim luck on the side of the Royals could have another season to remember.  It’s just that last season, the reliance on the sim luck wasn’t there… it was more a case of hoping that the sim recognised the depth of talent and played fair.
