(S10) - PT 1 - New Faces - PigSnout - 08-28-2018 One of the big additions the Yellowknife Wraiths made over this offseason was the signing of Tegan Atwell. Atwell was previously a cornerback but switched to wide receiver and has been playing there for two seasons now. She has been one of the top receivers in the league as she has been top 5 in both of her previous seasons as a wide receiver. After playing her previous seasons as part of a crowded Otters receiver group, Atwell will get the chance to play a bigger role in the Wraiths' offense. The Wraiths' passing attack took a step back last season as there was no strong second option behind Eric Kennedy at wide receiver. Atwell will be able to provide the Wraiths with another receiving threat to challenge opposing secondaries this season and if she stays around long term, will be the primary receiving option going forward after Kennedy retires at the end of the season. Bringing in a new receiving threat will be especially important with the Wraiths also making a move to bring in Brad Pennington to be their quarterback of the future as they want to surround him with good weapons. Tegan Atwell will be an exciting player to watch in Yellowknife this season as the Wraiths hope to get their offense back to a championship level after missing the playoffs last season. Cobalt isn't a fucking idiot, he's a very respectable person but also someone who lacks good anger management control. Cobalt had a late night first practice with his team right after the draft where he reportedly made an almost instant enemy in fellow draftee Harvey Kindle, who was traded to the team while the draft was still conducted after the Marshals passed up on him at #21 only to trade their selection from that pick for Kindle as well as corner back Danny Vranos for the result of the #23 pick. Cobalt made light of Kindle's trade and continuously harassed him about how he should "feel like a pawn, a piece in the game that GM's are playing" and that Kindle was "basically worthless". Now noted, these are all unfounded attacks, and Cobalt is expected to issue a public apology to his team mate before he is allowed to play this pre-season for the Marshals. (S10) - PT 1 - New Faces - Official DT - 08-28-2018 Things are a lot different than playing in the minor league system. I had to recently pack my belongings and move from Portland to Philadelphia. Things are totally different for sure. Portland had been my home for the past two years and it has been what I know. I know the streets, I know where all the entertainment is and it's been peaceful. I hear Philadelphia is so full of life and it's not as quiet of a city as Portland is. Things won't be the same but it seems like everything will be alright. I know that I will be playing with new teammates and I know there are a handful of other rookies on the team too. I will have to start mapping out my routes to work and other places but I think I will start to enjoy Philadelphia a lot more once I get used to it. I know Portland was like that before I moved out there but I caught on quickly and it was amazing. One of the things that I am excited about is actually being able to eat a Philly cheese steak. Like not your average one but one in the actual city of Philadelphia. There are other foods that I want to try but that is definitely on my bucket list. (S10) - PT 1 - New Faces - RedCydranth - 08-28-2018 Marc "Clone" Spector had never actually played football before. But he'd watched the tape of his genetic donor, Marc "Enigma" Spector, plenty in the Milstein Facility. He's been studying non-stop to try to live up to the expectations. If he is successful, this could dramatically change the future of athletics for years to come. So, when he was drafted at 7th overall in the DSFL draft, he was shocked. It would appear that someone in the Portland Pythons administration had seen the press conference and grew excited over the prospect of cloning and athletics as well. When he walked into the locker room, there were a lot of other faces there who were just as dazed and stupefied to see the facilities for the first time. Sunnycursed, KJ Becker, Antonio Summer and big Dan Schneider were all there. All of them rookies to this team. Marc had felt alone his whole life, which was only a couple weeks now, but he'd felt supervised by the scientists, not in a family setting. But Marc looked around the locker room, and realized these people here, they're his family. These bonds he makes here could last a lifetime. Nothing is more important than that. Well, and fulfilling the experiment and proving cloning is the future of sports technology. (216) (S10) - PT 1 - New Faces - Leafer - 08-28-2018 Honestl, the hawks do not have to do anything to make the team better because it is already good. Even though they did not win the ultimus, they at least were one of the best. So not much to do so prety much there are no new faces to the team except for players from the draft joining the team and that man is steven oats. He is a safety and he is literally the only player new to the team. We did lose some veterans but who cares honestly, it is all about the future. We do not need to be like the otters because we care about the future of this team like nola does so yeah, screw the inaugural players and welcome the new young players. So who is this steven oats? He is a safety and that is pretty much it. But he is also a potential steal like Roenick which can be very very special. He also has a potential to being a very helpful player and a safety is very important. We could use some improvement in the back and oats does bring in that. So yeah that is pretty what new face of the franchise is. (S10) - PT 1 - New Faces - TheActualSlowpoke - 08-28-2018 And I thought joining the DSFL was a big step. Now I have been drafted, there are more new faces, more expectations, more things to learn. Everyday seems to have something new to add to my list of things to accomplish. Being drafted with Damien Arnold was a blessing and a curse. In one sense its nice to not be the only new kid. On the other it has created a great rivalry. I cant say it’s a bad thing because it will be a great motivational tool. We may play different styles of the same position, but I know I cant stand playing 2nd fiddle. There is going to be some adjustment, and I may still be playing for the Luchadores next season, but all paths end up in Baltimore. Having talked to the management there I understand their goals and desires, and they understand mine. Right now, everything is just about growth. I need to figure out where I fit into the puzzle and where I can bring my skills in to help both the Luchadores now, and the Hawks soon. Its really exciting to be here, in this place. Change is a great catalyst. Lets see how this wild ride ends up. (S10) - PT 1 - New Faces - Sweetwater - 08-28-2018 After spending multiple seasons with the same team, it will be very interesting to get into a new locker room and experience a new culture. This is made especially more interesting by my having been gone for almost 6 seasons. Not only am I joining a new team with players I have known from forum interactions, but also entirely new players I’ve never even seen before. Out of the over 100 players that I was a part of the first draft and season with, only about 10 remain, and I am fortunate to get to reunite with some of those players. I am excited for this new stage in my career. I get to meet new people, experience new management, compete against new opponents, play in a new phase of the game. The future is bright and I have a whole new outlook on the league. To all my new teammates, thank you for welcoming me and I look forward to succeeding with you on the field. To my new coaches, thank you for seeing the potential in me and I hope I bring you the results you seek. To my new rivals, I wish you the best of luck against me on Sundays. (S10) - PT 1 - New Faces - evryday - 08-28-2018 Shannon Hobbs was drafted 10th overall to the Arizona Outlaws. He will be the only Season 10 draftee on the roster for this upcoming season. “It can be a bit intimidating. I’m the fresh meat, the new man on campus, so to speak. Arizona is a far cry from Louisiana so it’s just a lot of changes all happening at once. I’m just excited to get out there and do what I know and that’s play football. On the field, all that other stuff doesn’t matter. I can just do what I want to do and play a game I love.” Hobbs has gone from Louisiana to Utah to Portland and now he’ll be calling Arizona home for the foreseeable future. He seems to be adjusting well to the changes but a bigger change will be the speed of the game at the NSFL level. He is used to being one of the fastest guys on the field at any given time, when he enters the NSFL, that won’t be the case. It is rumored that Hobbs will see starting time at both safety and on special teams as a punt and kick returner. In pre-draft interviews he made it clear he dreams of being the best returner in the league. He has the speed but is that all it takes? (S10) - PT 1 - New Faces - 7hawk77 - 08-28-2018 Normally I like writing all point tasks in the perspective of my character, but I think this PT should be an exception. I recently retired my first player (Dan Miller) and played with the same team (sabercats) for all but 1 season. I've also done a lot of jobs in the league, from grading media, to head office to other stuff. I'm bringing this up because I've interacted with a lot of people within the league. After a minor stint of inactivity, I decide to recreate. Now that I am on my second player, I've recently been drafted by the Otters. It's been pretty interesting now being on a team with a lot of users that I've interacted with on forums briefly but now share a common locker room and goal in winning the ultimus. Specifically and in no particular order: Molarpistols, Fire-Bred, Speculadora, Jiggly_333, RedCydranth and of course Timeconsumer. I'm looking forward to hanging out with the a lot of these users and maybe learn more about them than the passing interactions we've had in the past. As far as a new face, I and a few others are the new faces (such as Trautner and Nobody) and the otters locker room has been very friendly. I'm excited to see what we can accomplish. 215 words |
