The reason this type of rule didn't pass earlier was not the result of Baltimore GMs acting in self interest. Fact remains that some teams were more prepared for this than other teams, though, and that allowing a one season wait time before major rule changes regarding rosters are made would make them seem suspicious, as well as make the draft more interesting. 2 of Baltimore's 3 biggest threats were the most-affected teams (PHI and NOLA), and the change only happened after Baltimore wasn't benefitting as much. The other rule about retirement position changes ALSO comes right after Baltimore has taken advantage of it. For this one, I think this had more to do with it just not having been a thing in the past, but it doesn't help. *kckolbe PreSeason Power Rankings - majesiu - 12-10-2018 Oof *kckolbe PreSeason Power Rankings - nunccoepi - 12-10-2018 (12-10-2018, 02:27 PM)kckolbe Wrote:Fact remains that some teams were more prepared for this than other teams, though, and that allowing a one season wait time before major rule changes regarding rosters are made would make them seem suspicious, as well as make the draft more interesting. 2 of Baltimore's 3 biggest threats were the most-affected teams (PHI and NOLA), and the change only happened after Baltimore wasn't benefitting as much. I mean most rules changes in this league have come just after teams exploited them. That's why they were changes. And right now, a fair argument could be made (from your article) that almost every team could be considered a threat to Baltimore. As for Baltimore GM's voting or personal opinions on those rules we can just ask them. I do agree about that window of time for the rules to take effect though. That would seem rather cut and dry. *kckolbe PreSeason Power Rankings - kckolbe - 12-10-2018 (12-10-2018, 12:40 PM)nunccoepi Wrote:And right now, a fair argument could be made (from your article) that almost every team could be considered a threat to Baltimore. Just to clarify what I meant here, I don't think SJS or ARI match up that well against Baltimore, despite being of comparable strength. OC, NOLA, and PHI had the front 7 talent to at least challenge Baltimore's insane rushing attack. *kckolbe PreSeason Power Rankings - PaytonM34 - 12-10-2018 Still underdogs after winning the ultimus, I love it *kckolbe PreSeason Power Rankings - WannabeFinn - 12-10-2018 Baltimore gonna fuck some people up tbh *kckolbe PreSeason Power Rankings - manicmav36 - 12-10-2018 @kckolbe As stated by nunc above, since slm and I took over in Baltimore we've been trying to get 2-way players removed, as any other GM will tell you. To state that we only implemented that rule due to our lack of a true WR1 is not only insulting, it is patently false. Please make sure you know all the facts before throwing around such accusations. *kckolbe PreSeason Power Rankings - kckolbe - 12-10-2018 (12-10-2018, 03:59 PM)manicmav36 Wrote:@kckolbe The last three rules passed limiting roster options were passed right after Baltimore did not benefit from them. That is the complete claim I made. And, in the same article, I mentioned that I supported the ban as well. While I definitely drew attention to the timing, I did not "state that we only implemented that rule due to our lack of a true WR1," so I am not the one making a false statement, here. *kckolbe PreSeason Power Rankings - manicmav36 - 12-10-2018 (12-10-2018, 06:15 PM)kckolbe Wrote:The last three rules passed limiting roster options were passed right after Baltimore did not benefit from them. You can dance around semantics all you like, that still doesn't make what you originally insinuated true. Couldn't be further from the truth. Besides, all rules require 10 votes to pass. If we were able to convince 9 others to vote for rules that benefit us, we'd have to be some damn good sales men. *kckolbe PreSeason Power Rankings - kckolbe - 12-10-2018 (12-10-2018, 04:33 PM)manicmav36 Wrote:You can dance around semantics all you like, that still doesn't make what you originally insinuated true. But you ARE damn good salesmen. Really, who has ever left Baltimore in FA except the players you've cast aside? And getting people to agree to a rule is one thing. Holding the vote on it AFTER the draft is another. |
