The Rivalry: Bubba Nuck vs. Reg Mackworthy

It's not much of rivalrly yet because Bubba Nuck is running wild in the league through the first 4 games and Mackworthy is just sort of sauntering at this point, but this is still expected to be the best Running Back rivalry in the league moving forward. Once Mackworthy is given a chance to shine with increased carries he's expected to mop the floor with Nuck's stats. Coming into the season these two horses were the two premier backs, they were going h2h in all the combines, flashing their skills and some even speculated they could both end up on the same team for the ultimate RB tandem. That didn't happen as Nuck was auto-drafted to Yellow Knife and became the primary ball juggler (cough) I mean ball carrier, while Mackworthy entered a 3 man tandem in Arizona. This rivalry has yet to really take hold, but it's going to be one to watch. Bubba Nuck is reportedly getting a bit cocky as he's jumped out to a huge lead in yards, carries, ypc and even TD's, but Mackworthy is content to let Nuck have this one for now because Ol' Reg knows in the future it's going to be all Mackworthy, running wild all over everyone's candy asses. I hate playing against this guy. sometimes it makes you want to run the other way. then you have to try and run him over an hope you done come back smelling of blehh. I got him a nice gift basket at Target wit ha luffa, shampoo, deodorant, and some famine body wash. i am hoping this guy get the hint. Second he is a physical player always holding when the zebras can see him, throwing punches to the ribs if he gets beat. I think this is fairly obvious who the rival of The Mountain is, no one!
I think Sandor Clegane has a decent shot at the title of the current rival of the Mountain, the little shit grew up somehow, in spite of the actions of a certain individual who burned the shit out of his face.

Another solid option for the rival of the mountain would be Beric Dondarian. Beric Dondarian has a rough histor ywith the Cleganes. Both Sandor and myself have at different times either put a lance inside his stomach or cut down his torso so deeply the priest is afraid he will lose the arm. I would say this particular rivalry is one sided.

I would say Oberyn Martell was my first rival, but I took care of that problem, did I not? Boom. The trial was a decent fight, which I would say hubris played a part in the actions of both men. I think Oberyn's ego might be curtailed, however, for in the near future the instability coming from the peninsula of Dorne should be a fun distraction during the offseason. These types of uprisings take many years to put down, and I am sure the Mountain will be at the center of the action.

Two weeks ago I woulda said I don't have any rivals. Nobody really made things personal with me until the point, it was all business. In week 3 however, I met Ian Bavitz. Start of the game, I'm acting all friendly, but it's business when the game starts. Second play of the game, Jameis tosses the ball my way. I stiff arm Bavitz, start making my way downfield. This guy punches the ball into the air and catches it. Like, the hell? Later, they start taking him off me, and he starts sacking Jameis. I'm like "no one else can cover me, toss it my way bro", and Jameis agrees. I start running a quick crossing route, but Bavitz notices. Grabs my fuckin face mask to prevent me from getting the ball. Next play he's on me, and he snatches the ball right before I can get it. And from that point on, I wasn't letting him touch me. He couldn't stop me for the rest of the game, and when the game was over we shook hands, and he gave me a look. That look said "My team beat your team, but I haven't beat you yet" and just walked away.

Next week, Bavitz was following me like a dog follows a cat covered in barbecue sauce. Every time a pass went my way I couldn't get any separation on the guy. Like 4 times in a row I couldn't get away from him. I just shut up and started blocking for the rest of the game basically. I caught a pass here or there, but I couldn't get shit done. The end of the game and coach is like "You can beat him Break, I know you can" so he puts me running a route again. I get open, Bavitz isn't even covering me. Then outta nowhere his teammate, I think it was Verns snatches the ball. I just sat down in the grass, and didn't get up. I couldn't. I'd never felt defeated like that before. And then I got home, and I started practicing.

@Molarpistols fight me IRL bro

This little story all started in the testosterone-fueled pre-draft environment. As everyone knows, I was by far the best center prospect this year. Then this little upstart, Jogn Floggity, comes along declaring himself the best center. Well, I wasn't having any of that nonsense, I went right up to his face and told him how it was gonna be. Luckily for me, he wasn't having any of it either and just dug his heels. That's when I knew I had a real nemesis, someone to really push me to be my best.

I couldn't believe it, we were drafted to the same team. Not only that, he was drafted ahead of me too! Unbelievable, I couldn't believe I was gonna have to start working with this guy and, at least in the eyes of the GMs, he was the better prospect. I wouldn't let that deter me though; instead, it motivated me. Every day at practice the first thing I do is find Jogn and challenge him to that starting center position. He replies in kind. I find him in the weight room and make sure to out rep him. He stays with me in lock step. Jogn is definitely my biggest rival but he's also my teammate and we push each other to be the best we can be.

Center is one of the most underrated positions in football - your only job is to prevent the Defensive Line from doing their jobs, you start off balance, and every team has an Tackle who wants nothing more than to ruin your day. It is thus a little suprising that one of the biggest locker room concerns for the Yellowknife Wraiths is the constant competition between Jogn Floggity and Mat Akselsen to be named to the position.

"Sure, I'm mad at a bunch of Tackles in the league, especially those Outlaw...am I allowed to swear on the CBC?" said Floggity, in an exclusive interview with CBC North, which does not allow swearing on air, "but at the end of the day they're just doing their jobs. Mat...that guy lost the battle, he's getting paid less, and he's an ugly piece of...work, but he keeps telling himself he'll be playing in the middle. I swear I'm going to have to poop in his locker to keep him straight. D*mn, I should have thought of doing that during Prank Week. Wait, you seriously bleeped d*mn?"

Rumors have it that the Wraiths are considering the nuclear option and signing a Free Agent Center to bypass the conflict entirely.

EDIT: WOW

If you ask Antoine Delacour who he considers his rival, you'd probably expect him to name another defensive back. Most likely the guy who lines up opposite him for the Baltimore Hawks, Matthew Peterson, and he toys with that idea. "Peterson is a great player, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't compare our performances and what not," he revealed. However, "the big test" as he puts it, is going up against the Hawks primary receiver Damian West every week in training. "West is on another level," Delacour says. "I said in the pre-draft pressers that I was looking forward to covering him because it's a proper challenge to cover a guy like that. I'm glad we're on the same team in a way, because now we get to push each other on the training field."

West is undoubtedly the Hawks' main threat, and the favourite target of quarterback Scrub Kyubee, but Delacour insists the two have some interesting contests on the training field. "Maybe it's because I wanted to be a receiver when I was younger, I don't really know, but I love facing off against him." The former LSU defensive back went on to elaborate on how this particular rivalry translates to his own position and role in the team. "You gotta look at it like this, Damian is one of the league's top receivers, right? So if I can do well against him in training, but then he torches other DBs, I gotta be doing something right."

For Luke Tiernan, rivalry is an opaque subject, a physical behemoth, the former Notre Dame Power Running Back, doesn’t consider himself to have any true rivals, he is far to placid a man for that.

A suggestion which is increasingly strange given the three-headed carry split of his team’s (the Colorado Yeti) running back core and also his highly publicised pre-draft spat with follow rugby convert and now team-mate Kieran O’Connell.

Given his physical strength and appetite for shifting heavy weights in the weight room, it does seem that some of the highest profile defensive linesmen in the league are eager to have their shot at “Lieutenant “LT” Smash.”

With the Colorado Yeti due to play the Orange County Otters tonight, Otters Defensive End JJ Reigns is apparently eager at the prospect to face the Irishman, perhaps neglecting his usual pass rushing role in an attempt to stop the Irishman.

Certainly, more interestingly, there have been rumours coming out of the Otters training ground suggesting that Otters’ Offensive Lineman Angus Winchester has requested a move to the defensive side of the ball when Tiernan is lined up in the backfield.

With NSFL fans on internet message boards in constant debate over which of the two would be the physically strongest in the league.

When asked the question Tiernan had this to say on the matter – “Well I’ve seen the Instagram posts, Winchester is a seriously strong dude, I reckon he might just about have me, he certainly wouldn’t be able to keep up with e for speed though.”

Rivalry can be a funny thing, even in a league as young as the NSFL. We met at the Otters training facility to discuss rivalries with one of the top linemen, Angus Winchester, and get his take on the subject.

ESPN: Angus who would you say your biggest rival in the NSFL is?
Winchester: It's tough to say, I haven't really had an old-fashioned rivalry with anybody I can think of. I'd say I have more friendly rivalries than anything else. If I had to pick somebody I guess I'd say Ben Longshaw.

ESPN: Why Longshaw?
Winchester: I think it has more to do with the draft, and all the hype surrounding it than it does the man himself. We were constantly being compared to one another as the top two prospects. Everything I did was benchmarked to Longshaw, and I'm sure the same happened to him.

ESPN: Can you give us some examples of this?
Winchester: Nothing specific, but yeah I'd read something where some guy is talking about how 'Winchester is the stronger lineman, but his technique and hands are far inferior to Longshaw, who will excel better at the professional level' or some crap like that. It makes you as a player doubt yourself and your training, so I started getting a bad attitude whenever I heard about him.

ESPN: Have you two ever exchanged words?
Winchester: No, nothing like that. I think most of the that pre-draft animosity has worn off, it's more friendly now than anything else. We respect each other as players, we just have different skills. I'm a little sour still that he got drafted first, I think I'm the better player. But that's how every football player feels.

ESPN: After playing the Sabercats two weeks in a row, and seeing Longshaw give up his first sack of the season, would you say you've come out on top of this friendly rivalry?
Winchester: Ha! Definitely not. He was facing Adamle Tomlinson both of those games, I'm surprised he held him to just one sack. I'd be lying to you if I said I didn't get beat by Tomlinson in practice at least once a week.

ESPN: What aspect of Longshaw's game do you think would benefit you the most?
Winchester: Just his knowledge. You can tell the guy spends countless hours in the film room. I wish I could do that but you only have so many hours a day you can spend at the facility, and I'm in the weight room or lunch room a whole lot more than the film room.

ESPN: Thanks for your time, Angus.
Winchester: Anytime Mr. Reporter who strangely doesn't have a name.

My rival is none other than my receiving counter-part Robert Phelps. Friendly sometimes, irritating others. There is a lot of respect but we are always in competition with one another. Always battling to prove to one another and the coaching staff that one of us is better than the other. Putting in the extra hours, working out in the training room for countless hours, we both want to be number 1 at any cost. The irritating part is no matter how high I jump or how fast I run he is always there. I push myself to the limits and he just doesn’t quit and always is one step ahead. One of these days he will miss a step and I will be there to take his place. As the number 2 and number 3 receivers in the league you can see there is a lot of competition for the ball and playing time. With the revolving door at quarterback and front office positions we stay strong and reliable. There is something to be feared when taking on the Otters’ duo. We are a tough matchup for even the best secondary. Overload on us and we’ll have an easy time running the ball all over you with our running backs and play the run and Robert and I will take off for days. Needless to say as long as we continue our rivalry trying to get the best of one another we will be a great dynamic force to be reckoned with in this league.
