(S1) - PT #4 - Deadline Deals - automatic - 06-26-2017 The current injury and inactivity of the Outlaws incumbent quarterback, the Outlaws future, and their playoff hopes, rest of Bronko’s unproven shoulders. The Outlaws have been a team rumored to be in the market for a free agent quarterback, if Bronko’s performance isn’t quite what the Outlaws suspected. As a spectator you get the sense everything may be falling apart for the Outlaws, especially as they have an upcoming match up against the surging and now also 5-3 Otters. Searching for a new Quarterback may prove to be their best option, as the Outlaws current 5-3 record puts them atop the ASFL standings, and ready to compete for the ultimate title this season. As an added bonus, the other available quarterback in Josh Bercovi currently hails from the gunslinger archetype, which should fit the style of play the Outlaws are looking for like a fingertip-less glove. They have fought their hardest in the first half of the season, and should be ready to battle the Otters for top standings in the ASFL in week 9. Looking forward, the pressure is sure to crank up on Outlaws leadership following a defeat to the rival Otters and for the first time this season, the Outlaws are being threatened to drop out of first place in the division. Sure, the early season has been tough on the wraiths, but with the addition of several upcoming rookie claims, the roster seems to be at a point in which moves in the trade market are unlikely. I feel as if the wraiths will hold on to the pieces they are currently working with in an attempt to establish a team chemistry unmatched by any other team around the league. That along with great coaching and ownership is a formula for not only success this season, but for many seasons to come! All that being said, it looks as though the wraiths will simply attempt to build their future through the draft, rather than attempting to shake up the team to find the right pieces. Just being in the locker room for a single day, I can already tell that the team is gelling, ready to strike on the upcoming opponents that look ready to make a tanking attempt. Playoffs do not only look like a possibility, but a high probability. It will be interesting to play these coming weeks and help in determining the outcome of this beautiful process that is wraiths football. (S1) - PT #4 - Deadline Deals - TimPest - 06-27-2017 ![]() (S1) - PT #4 - Deadline Deals - Player1 - 06-27-2017 Only days before the trade deadline, the playoff-minded Otters hooked up with the struggling SaberCats to swap pieces. The Otters' front office knew they would need another big offensive target to put the team in championship condition, and the Cats wanted to maximize their chances of success in the future, so they made the following deal: Otters Receive: TE Break Bottles SaberCats Receive: Otters S2 3rd round pick Otters S3 4th round pick TE Josh Davidson The trade puts the Otters in a dangerous situation with the cap, given they were already generous signing rookie deals in season 1. Additionally they lose out on mid-round picks in back to back years. For the SaberCats, Bottles is an on and off weapon in their offense. They will certainly be struggling this year but look to ultimately profit off the deal by drafting a replacement and keeping an extra pick in their pocket. How does Break Bottles fit into the Otters offense? On paper he seems to be the perfect complement to current starting Tight End George Wright Jr., as the two could not be more different in build. The Otters run a lot of 2TE sets and I-Formation plays, meaning having Tight Ends that can play with versatility is extremely valuable, and Bottles' receiving ability brings the Otters an option that they don't get with either the blocker Wright or the camp body Davidson. The SaberCats get Josh Davidson as a courtesy, having no other Tight Ends on the roster and the Otters no longer needing him. They will need to find a starter in free agency or the draft, but for the moment Davidson means the position isn't entirely void. (S1) - PT #4 - Deadline Deals - HENDRIX - 06-27-2017 Multiple sources out of Baltimore indicate the Hawks could be targeting a top tier edge rusher. The Hawks are having trouble getting to the opposing quarterback and finishing off games. Their offense has scored the second most points in the league but they are having trouble closing the door as their counterparts are moving the ball through the air well which has led to several close losses. An obvious target team would be the San Jose Sabercats. Their playoffs chances are slim at best but they have several players that have gotten to the QB well through eight games: Miller with six sacks, Selich with four sacks, and Cameron also with four sacks. Who knows if the San Jose GM would be willing to make a deal but any of those players would infuse serious pass rushing ability to the Hawks front seven. In exchange the Hawks could be shopping several draft picks or perhaps one of their wide receivers. An influx of talent to the Hawks defense could just be what they need to propel themselves into the playoffs. As trade deadline day approaches this will be one of the many storylines around the league to keep an eye on. 201 (S1) - PT #4 - Deadline Deals - theFlock - 06-27-2017 With just a few hours left before the deadline, the phones are ringing and Front Offices are scrambling to get one last offer in to help push their team far into the playoffs. In a league like this one, you need to be solid everywhere, and you have to be willing to sacrifice a piece in order to move forward. That is exactly what the Colorado Yeti intend to do, to. In order to cement their walking path to the Championship, they will need to protect NSFL MVP candidate, Logan Noble, and allow him adequate time to get the ball out to his receivers. Yeti are in dead last in Pass Offense, and pundits don't know who is to blame. Is it that Noble isn't allowing his receivers enough time to get open, or if he is putting them in positions to not gain yards after the catch? Is it his receiving core not leaving it all on the field? Is it the offensive line not allowing enough time? All we know is, he needs to feel safe back there in order for him to perform better, and while they have surrendered the second least sacks, its apparent that Noble is rattled in the pocket. Colorado Yeti ![]() ![]() The Orange County Otters are the Second best Pass Offense in the league with only two real options at WR. While Phelps and Westfield are truly setting the league ablaze with a serious one-two punch at the receiving position, they are leaving opposing teams with an easy solution. You can double both of them and force the TE and RB to earn short yardage against one of the strongest positions in the league, Linebackers. Adding a third option at WR gives the Otters more diversity in the passing game, as well as a much needed breather for the two ironmen currently on the roster. Yeti are giving up a 3rd option at WR and a draft pick to add a stud lineman from arguably the Offensive Line in the league, who is under contract for 3 years. On the other side of the trade, the Otters are adding a reliable receiving talent to shallow position and adding a draft pick to potentially fill in the spot they are vacating. When you can protect the Quarterback, you have to give him weapons to throw to. If you give him weapons to throw to, you have to protect him. This trade makes it a very likely possibility that these teams meet up in the Championship to face off for all the marbles. Code: 454 words (S1) - PT #4 - Deadline Deals - Bzerkap - 06-27-2017 So the Wraiths are in an interesting position. They aren't bad, but they aren't the best. They are squarely in the middle of the pack so they really could go either way, and in order to surpass the word count I'm gonna play into both sides of the equation here. Let's talk about playing for the future. There are a lot of good offensive lineman available in the season two draft, and with the way the Wraiths are playing on the offensive side of the ball, adding a complete line might help. Well, if we're looking towards the draft then we need some draft picks. The wraiths have made a few defensive line additions in the past couple of weeks, and with Jason Spearhead becoming inactive but still a string player in his own right, I think there is a team willing to take on the short term surge of Spearhead production to win this season. I think that team is the Orange County Otters who have a very impressive secondary as well as a strong d-line, but could have a ferocious one by adding in Spearhead. The trade is Spearhead for a 2nd rounder. What if the Wraiths wanted to create a surge for the playoffs? Well I think it's definitely more than possible and one key player we could use would be Daniel Robichaux of the San Jose SabreCats. He hasn't been very active lately but he is under contract for three years, and having another human Olineman with around 80 TPE is definitely better than any robot. Having a four human line will help the offense in every way and could be enough of a boost to get the Wraiths to the playoffs. The trade is Robichaux for a 2nd rounder. (S1) - PT #4 - Deadline Deals - Jbearly - 06-27-2017 The Orange County otters are primed for a late season push to not only make the playoffs but win the whole damn thing. With a complete defense the otters will Need to add some more talent to the offensive side of the ball needing someone to take pressure off their two top recievers Robert Phelps and westfield. They've both lit up the league so far but such limited recieving options kills such a explosive offense when they don't have a bail out option. Someone who will make a clutch catch amd extend drives. This isn't a necessary trade for the otters considering they have been lighting the world ablaze. The trade being lightskin thor and a 5th round pick for mister dj law from the Colorado yeti. This trade gives the yeti another big pass rushing threat who can produce in their defense while the otters get an absolute stud wr. This trade will absolutely give both teams what they'll need to hopefully meet in the championship game at the end of the year. The actually likelihood of this happening in slim though as it appears both teams will most likely be standing pat with their current rosters this season (S1) - PT #4 - Deadline Deals - Darnellthebeast - 06-27-2017 In an absolutely shocking trade, the San Jose Saber Cats trade LB AC Hackett to the Colorado Yeti in exchange for their second and third round picks. AC Hackett, a core member of the Saber Cats line backing corps, finished his last game against the Yeti with 9 tackles and 2 sacks. We attempted to get in contact with the General Manager of the Saber Cats however we were unable to reach them. We believe that the reason for trading Hackett was that the Saber Cats are planning a full rebuild, similar to the 76ers a few years ago. We would not be surprised if the Saber Cats ship out other pieces of their core in hopes to acquire more young talent and depth through the draft. With the recent influx of prospects, this may end up proving to be a worthwhile move. The Yeti, on the other hand, may have just received the final piece they need in order to secure the Ultimus trophy. The Yeti already have a solid team near the top of the league in wins; the addition of AC Hackett will only give more depth and talent into an already great defense. We expect to see an even more improved team in the next few weeks from the Yeti. (S1) - PT #4 - Deadline Deals - Anti-Hype - 06-27-2017 The Yellowknife Wraiths are a lot closer to missing the play offs than most people initially thought. Though many of their losses (Sans the OC shut out) have come from small margins. This shows that they are possibly only a few small pieces away from being top contenders in the NSFL. Thus rumors have to arise which indicate they may be looking to make a quick move before the deadline. With the amount of depth on their defensive line it wouldn't be crazy for them to make a move there. But you never know what could happen to the line with such a sudden change. Though their waiver wire pick up Ben Greene showed that he has what it takes to fill a spot. Bringing in his first sack of the season in his first game through brief appearances. I think its possible they offload Jason Spearhead. I think Ramrio may be able to take his spot at DE and Greene could fill in at DT along side Bender. He has great run stopping ability that I think would compliment the strong pass rush they already have. Once he goes to the draft they could look to pick him back up or grab one of the many talented Dlinemen coming next season. I would recommend getting somebody in their secondary to replace Sanchez who has not been showing much improvement this far in his NSFL career. |
