Fall is just about upon us, and you’ll notice a few things around Baltimore this time of year: the hottest parts of the year are behind us, school is back in swing, the Orioles are mathematically eliminated, and there’s optimism in the air for the Hawks.

This especially is a very important time for the Baltimore Hawks. The Hawks have a good roster, but there’s a lot of critics who are down on the us. Despite the rough season last year, the Hawks still finished above .500. The season does not open up favorably as Baltimore is traveling across the country to play the reigning Ultimus champions Arizona in a game featuring the two most recent champs. On paper it looks like a good matchup but the Outlaws do have the important home field advantage.

There’s definitely a sense of urgency surrounding the team. The expansion draft, free agency, and regression is finally starting to show with the roster. A big draft class next year is opportunity to fix the lack of youth post-S15 in the locker room. The youth especially needs to come out big week 1, as there are 5 starters from the S15 class now ready to make a difference- safeties Walt Green and Fatih Terim, running back Dorfus Jimbo, receiver Ahri Espeeyeeseetee, and linebacker Marquees Acho. We’ll see soon if these young players are ready to take the next step in their careers to keep the Hawks as contenders.

I think the best part about it finally being opening day is that we're finally getting back to football that matters. The offseason is a grind that I'm not sure many people really like and at some point it doesn't even really help us out on the field. The preseason is much the same way where it pretty much sucks and no one is really giving it their all. The thing that really sucks though is that these types of activities are when you see most of the injuries happen for one reason or another and rarely do these injuries actually happen during the regular season where each and every snap counts and we're all working towards a goal. Now I'm not saying that they don't happen during the season, just that everyone is actually a lot more cautious. Of course there are some guys that need the extra time during the offseason to get back to playing weight as they were lazy or just took off all the time they could and didn't put a single ounce of work in, but that's their issue. Whatever it may be though I'm just excited to put on the uniform and helmet and get back to work doing what I love.

As a fan I’m just ready for the season to begin. I’d be cool if there wasn’t a offseason. Just sign, trade and draft right after the Ultimus and keep on rolling. With the new GMs, especially in the DSFL, it will be exciting to see how they manage their team and it all plays out. My boy in Portland Saba is running his first team and has a good chance I believe at winning his first season. They replace QB Armstrong but they have a great replacement. Hugo left but with Saba back at wr and some key defenders coming back they have a strong case along with Kansas City and of course Tijuana. Being a former Python I’m gonna be a homer though and say they take it.
In the NSFL I’m very excited to see how we, the secondline, do this year. We have very hope expectations of ourselves and have one goal in mind. I believe we will do great things with our young team. I’m very high on the season 17 class, mainly because it’s my class lol, but I would say it’s a very solid class. Now as a player, I’m ready to start hitting and showing what I can do. We have big things planned for Action so be ready. I’m not the best wr on the team by a long shot but I plan to make a contribution to this team. I see us making the playoffs and putting in some work. We will see how the season unfolds though.

There is one word and one word only that makes me excited about opening day, be it as a fan in the NFL or a player in the NFSL and that word is hope.

In the words of that female blacksmith character from the knights tale 'Hope guides me. It is what gets me through the day and especially the night'.

I love that hope that you have at the start of the season. That your team could win it all (or in the case of my team the Copperheads could win a game or too). This hope allows to image miraculous situation in which you win it all, before of course reality comes crashing down around you, before your team throws away chance after chance, before your star play gets a season ending injury or is arrested or some other crazy thing that will ruin everything that you had hope and dreamed about.

As for where I will be spending the opening night of the season that is good news, it will not be praying in some church or at hope watching the games unfold early in the english morning. I will be spending in the the beautiful Dordogne, the most beautiful part of France with good food, good wine, family and friends. Peace out their is a beer calling to me.

The best thing about a new season is the novelty of it. It is quite similar to being able to have a new toy or a new phone. They can be almost be exact copies of one another, but the new one will always have some alure to it because no one has seen it or witnessed what it does. It doesn’t matter if it is your first season in the league, your fifth or your last, there is always some type of novelty involved in it. No season is ever the same as the one that came before it or the one that will come after it. Players develop or regress over the offseason, teams say goodbye to old faces and welcome new ones.

The other thing that is magical in a new season, is that there is hope in every team and in every locker room. Everyone starts out on the same, even and level playing field where everyone has a chance. There is none of the same gloom that you have ten weeks into a season where half the teams have lost their determination and will to live in the league. When everyone is 0-0, you can’t say that my team is better than yours or that they are worse because no one has yet shown it on the playing field. A new season is like the sun rising after a long winter and the coming of spring, where everyone is allowed to dream and that is what I am excited for on the opening day of the season

I’m just really excited because finally the time to see what my player can do is here! I’ve spent some time trying to make Jay Cue a good prospect, so it is going to be really fun to see if it goes well or completely wrong!
Besides, I really like football (NFL and CFB), but being on a completely different time zone than the games makes it hard to catch a lot of it, so it’s going to be fun to be involved in a game about the sport.
Being this the first year and not knowing exactly how the mechanics work, it is completely unclear to me how it’s going to work. The draft was amazing to follow live as fortunately I had the day off (it started at 1AM local time), but I don’t think I’ll be able to follow a lot of games, but I guess seeing the stats on the next morning might be fun too.
Team results wise, I’m also not sure on what is going to happen, but I’m dreaming about an epic type of season, who knows, maybe even the Ultimini might be a few steps away for the Portland Pythons. I just hope that the rookies stay active, do all the tasks they can to get some more TPE, and if I decide to declare for the S18 NSFL Draft, that we can all make it the best rookie batch ever to play this game. So far, it really looks like it, come @ me.

After a soul crushing end to the season last season, as I bears fan I could not be more excited for the regular season of the NFL to start. Although the bears lost some great players over the offseason, I believe that buster skrine and HaHa Clinton-Dix will be able to replace their production. I believe that Trubisky is going to take the next step in Nagy’s offense after loading up on offensive talent and having another year of experience in the same offense for the first time in his career. David Montgomery is also a player on offense that I am excited to see make an impact, and I think he will be a key part of the offense this season. I am lucky enough to get to attend the first game of the season on 9/5 with some friends of mine and could not be more excited. The bears are going to crush the packers like they did in the first half of the season opener last year, except Rodgers won’t be able to make anything magic happen against the Bears top tier defense. Bear down!
