S17 ULTIMUS WEEK!!! - Leafs4ever - 09-23-2019

Task 1: Playoff Predictions: Ultimus Preview

After a thrilling wild card round, we finally have our Season 17 Ultimus Championship match up. It will be the NSFC Champion Baltimore Hawks hosting the ASFC Champion Orange County Otters. It's a classic NSFL match up and one that should bring plenty of fireworks. Let's take a look at the match up.

In the regular season, the Hawks finished with a better record which earns them home field in the championship. However, the Otters did score more points over the season and gave up less points. They face each other once in the regular season, in the second last week, in which Baltimore took a close game by the score of 24-20. It was a close game on all counts, except for the fumble return touchdown by the Hawks D.

Speaking of the defense, the Hawks were fantastic in all fronts except giving up points. They didn't give up many yards, but points came a plenty for their opponents. They were ranked first in total and passing yards given up and second in rushing yards given up, but 5th in points allowed. Sounds like lots of short fields for their opponents and lots of field goals. For Orange County, their defense struggled giving up yards, but managed to finish just ahead of Baltimore in points given up. They were really a bend, but don't break defense this season.

On offense, the Hawks were easily the better team there. They rush the ball better and definitely throw it better. Having said all of this, I'm taking the Hawks to win the Ultimus Championship. They have been the better team in almost every area on the field and I think their offense is going to take advantage of the struggling Otter defense.

Baltimore wins 31-16

Task 3: All About the QBs

The Ultimus Championship is going to have a very intriguing quarterback match up with Hawks Corvo Havran going up against Otters Franklin Armstrong.

In the regular season, they weren't terribly far off from each other, but there was one clear player ahead of the other, and that was Corvo Havran. Havran threw the ball a little less than Armstrong, but still beat him in every statistical category. Havran threw for more yard, 3590 to 3191, and had a better completion percentage, 59.8 to 53.5.

Even in the more sexy stats, Havran shone brighter. Havran threw for 31 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while Armstrong threw 23 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. That's a sizable gap in touchdowns thrown. Havran also had the better quarterback rating, 95.5 to 78.2.

Everything in the regular season has shown Corvo Havran to be the better quarterback and that's why the Hawks have the advantage at the position going into the championship game. Havran has led a better offense and with the Otters defense struggling all season, I believe Corvo is going to have himself a day against Orange County.

He has the Hawks trust when he's out there on the field and he's got a great group of wide receivers. Corvo Havran wins this quarterback match up and I think he leads his Baltimore Hawks to an Ultimus victory.

Task 8: Draft Focus

As much as it pains me to say, I see a big hole coming up for the SaberCats that they should address in this draft. My days as a wide receiver are ending and with that comes a big hole at the wide receiver position.

In the Season 17 draft they took Kyle Grimly, who is currently missing in action. Outside of Flash, they have Ty Justice, who is regressing and already at the end of the rope. The San Jose general managers need to go and get a top wide receiver from the Season 18 draft. Yes, they have a big target in Cameron Olsen, but that's at the tight end position. The SaberCats cannot be left with nothing once Justice and Flash are gone. Priority number one is adding an impact wide receiver in this upcoming draft.

Another position they should address is the running back position. With the wide receiver position thinning, they're going to need a bell cow to carry the offense at times. What they currently have is great for a platoon, but they don't have a game breaker at the position. Bringing in some high end talent at running back will definitely help alleviate the pressure on the passing game.

We are going to see a vastly different SaberCats offense coming up here and it should all start at the Season 18 Draft.

(229 words)

Task 10: Rivalries

As a life long SaberCat player, I'm sick and tired of seeing the Orange County Otters luck themselves into playoff success. This year's ASFC championship game was sickening to watch. Having to see the Otters and the Outlaws playing in that game was brutal. The "playing over their heads" Outlaws losing to the "over-rated" Otters was awful.

This season, the Otters were mediocre at almost every aspect. Their quarterback was below average, leading the 8th best passing offense, their running back was average, leading the 5th best rushing attack, and their defense struggled all season, finishing in the bottom half of every yardage category. Their kicker wasn't even used all that much either, so pardon me if I'm baffled at how they made it to another Ultimus championship game.

I hate everything this team is. They dominated the ASFC in a time when the other team didn't even try to field a competent team and now they hold a mental edge against them, regardless of how mediocre they truly are. We had a chance to beat them this season in the wild card game, but beat ourselves. I don't give them credit for the win and I sure as hell don't give them credit for beating the Outlaws. My only saving grace is that Baltimore gives Orange County the beating they deserve in the championship game. Mediocrity should not be rewarded and that is what I'm hoping is avoided.

1) Playoff Predictions, Reviews:

I've been looking at this Tijuana vs San Antonio match up to see who goes to the Ultimini and the longer I look at it, the uglier it looks for San Antonio. The Marshals have really struggled this season against playoff teams and it hasn't really mattered if they were home games or away games. The Marshals are one win and four losses against playoff teams since week eight and their only win came as a three point victory over the Coyotes. It has been an absolute struggle for them and when you look at the other side, you don't really see any sign of struggles. Tijuana has pretty much marched through the season without any real opposition except for the Portland Pythons. From the beginning of the season, we all saw Tijuana and Portland as the final match up and my current prediction is that is exactly what is going to happen. San Antonio is going on the road to Tijuana and I don't see how they match up against a juggernaut team in their current state. Tijuana should easily put this one away by half time and I think the final scores may end up being something silly like 35 to 14 if the Marshals aren't careful. If you want to be a champion, these are the games you have to win and I think Tijuana takes it.

2) Underdog

In the first round of the playoffs for the DSFL, you have a match up between Portland and Kansas City. Portland is clearly the favorite for this game as they have dominated much of the season and are the first seed in the league. That said, I have faith that Kansas City can show up and surprise some people. They have been surprisingly efficient against the other playoff teams as they've closed out their season. They are 4-2 against playoff teams since turning their season around and one of those losses were only by three points. They struggled a bit against the bottom teams, but their success against the big boys is what actually got them into the playoffs. In the last game they played against Portland this season, they showed some fight and while Portland won by two scores, it wouldn't have taken much to swing the game the other way. Portland has lost their prized coGM Toasty who has been the play caller and game manager for this team so far this season. A lot of their success comes from Toasty knowing this game inside and out and with him now gone, I think there is room there for the Coyotes to come out with a shocker that no one sees coming.

3) All about the QBs

In the playoff match up between the Orange County Otters and the Arizona Outlaws, you have a very intriguing match between the old and the new. Andrew Reese is going up against Franklin Armstrong in what shouldn't be a close match up, but when you put these two guys under a microscope they have played very similar to each other this season. Andrew Reese has averaged 12.2 per completion, a 55.7 percent completion rating, 24 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions that combined to give him a 79.8 quarterback rating. Meanwhile, Franklin Armstrong has averaged 12.1 yards per completion, a 53.5 percent completion rating, 23 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions that has resulted in his 78.2 quarterback rating. As you can see, these guys play very similar styles of games with almost identical statistics in almost everything that matters. The only real difference between them is that Reese gets a lot more attempts and is expected to consistently carry his team while Armstrong gets to rely on his rushing attack a lot more often. It is a bit strange to see these two guys be separated by such a margin by age, but see their numbers be so similar overall and I think it will make for an exciting playoff match up as we see old and new meet face to face in a game for the ages.

11) Trades

Talking about trades makes this almost too easy as we look at the Baltimore and Orange County trade that sent star receiver Sunnycursed to the Hawks. Heading into the second half of the season, Baltimore had been dealing with some serious struggles and for a bit there, they were the clear cut third seed in the NSFL and there was even talk of them potentially missing the playoffs entirely if Philadelphia could get things together. Fortunately for them, they made a deal that turned around their fortunes and the thought of missing the playoffs quickly became a thing of the pass. Sunnycursed is a generational talent and a veteran who you know what to expect from. He quickly turned this offense around that had been flailing and struggling to move the ball earlier in the season. His impact was felt almost immediately and he put up multiple 100 yard games and multiple multi score games for the Baltimore team. In one swoop we went from watching the Hawks make an early exit to being a legitimate threat to the Yellowknife Wraiths. They already won their first playoff game and now they are heading to Yellowknife tonight. I'm not sure if they pull out the win, but I will say Sunnycursed has certainly made them a larger threat going into this one than they were just a few weeks ago.

S17 ULTIMUS WEEK!!! - CLG Rampage - 09-23-2019

1. Playoff Prediction, KCC vs POR

I believe this is the most interesting matchup among the playoff games overall. A lot of people are predicting an easy Portland victory, but I wouldn't be so sure after the last week of games during the DSFL season. Portland gave up a game to Palm Beach in rather embarrassing fashion, though one might argue that KC lost to Palm Beach twice. However, KC had managed to beat both the Marshals and Tijuana this season. It is possible that KC is able to play spoiler in this matchup and send Portland home early. The keys for KC in this matchup is for Longshaw to minimize his mistakes and to ram the duo of Orien Drake and Michael Drake right down Portland's throat. Portland has had trouble stopping strong rushing attacks in the past, so we'll have to see if KC can capitalize. If they try to go for an air-raid offense and pass the ball on every other play, I fear KC is going to have some mighty struggles in winning this game. He has had the most interceptions out of all QBs this season, so Portland is going to look to force Longshaw to throw the ball. I predict it'll be a close affair, not very high scoring, perhaps 17-14 with KC winning. I don't think you'll need to score a lot to win this game.

2. Underdog

I know it's weird to call one of the top two teams in the league an underdog, but I firmly believe Portland is the underdog in the game against Tijuana. Looking at their first regular season matchup, Portland had a lot of problems dealing with the Luchadores. An ungodly amount of penalties, a somewhat anemic passing game at least compared to Cue's averages, and key errors to give Tijuana the lead. These are different teams now, though. It's been a while since these teams have had a chance to square off against each other, and there are other things going towards Tijuana being the favorite in this game, in my opinion. Portland lost to Palm Beach, with a rare bad performance from QB Jay Cue. Cue threw for 3 interceptions, and lets be real here, Palm Beach was basically in full tank category. I have to wonder if Portland will run up against a brick wall going against Tijuana, and if they'll be able to break through that wall. I think this is Tijuana's game to lose, and if they can put up another solid defensive performance, Portland is going to be in major trouble. We shall see if Portland can shake off these poor performances and be the powerful offense we've seen many times this season, but they are definite underdogs in this matchup.

6. Our Time

Look, San Antonio hasn't exactly had the greatest record in the playoffs. They've had many times where they go one and done, unable to make a true push for the Ultimini. HOWEVER, this is going to be different. San Antonio has many weapons at its disposal, and is hungry after several key losses cost them a higher playoff birth. They're hunting for that trophy, and they have the guys to do it. They have Mathias Hanyadi and Ruff Ruff, by far the best running back duo in the entire league, with Ruff being well entrenched in the conversation for MVP. They have superstar corner Louisiana Purchase, with the most INTs snagged in the league by a good margin. They have Fabricio Baldari and Mike Franchet down in the trenches, ready to give opposing lines hell. They also have rookie wideout Tyrone Biggums, who played a key part as Jim McMahon's safe receiving option all year long. This is an objectively strong team. While sure, the team may have had its struggles in the past, this is a very strong DSFL roster that can easily go toe-to-toe with any of the league heavyweights. They have all the pieces they need for a strong playoff push, and in the first part of the season, they were really able to flex their muscles. They can go toe to toe with the strongest competition in the league, provided they are able to utilize their running game and establish some physical presence on the field.

17. Robbed

Boy oh boy, do I have a lot to say about this sim this week. Once again, the sim decides to ignore the fact that we have two of the best running backs in the DSFL! So what do we do? Go three and out twice trying to pass the ball to end the game! It's not like we were down by several scores, we were only down by 8! So instead of using what has undoubtedly been our greatest source of offensive production, we say screw it and play it like its an air raid! Like what the hell are we even doing in this sim? We go to Tijuana, we keep it close the entire game, and instead of using our backs we just decide 'Let's give the defense some more reps and go 3 and out twice!' This is something that has happened way too many times with us, the sim decides to just throw any advantage we have in the garbage and decides to force us to throw the god damn ball. I just don't get it! What's even the point of us having two great running backs, the sim is just going to ignore them anyways! This was our game to lose, in my opinion. And we got absolutely jobbed out by the sim.

Written: Write about one of the away teams in any matchup and explain why they can win. Must be completed before the sim.

This will be quite the interesting rematch from last year’s finals between the Portland Pythons and the Kansas City Coyotes. The Coyotes finished the season with a 6-8 record and were led by one of the best backs by committee in the DSFL. Between the Power running back in Michael Vincent and all purpose running back Orien Drake they managed a combined 2417 rushing yards and 15 combined rushing touchdowns over 431 carrys. The offense for the Coyotes has relied on these two all season to drive the offense and give the team a chance at the W. Which back will be the lead back going into the playoffs is still to be determined as Vincent and Drake swapped 1a and 1b roles weekly. If there is any chance of the Coyotes moving onto the next round and getting past the daunting task that is taking down this season’s best team even though pretty much everyone else has written them off. I truly believe behind the fantastic leadership and coaching from our Gneral Manager tandem mcgriddleluver and tropicaliaCC this will be the season that the Kansas City Coyotes upset the Portland Pythons forcing them to shed their skin and Fear the Howl!

Code:
6) Our Time
Written: Why should your team be looked at the favorite to win the Ultimus or Ultimini this season.

While the Kansas City Coyotes didn’t have the best of seasons failing to make it over the 500 mark they still had a lot of bright spots to their season. Their strengths for both offense and defense comes from those who play behind the line. For Offense the Running backs led the charge keeping the scores close as almost all of the offense was created from the run game. This allowed our receivers a little bit of extra time to make those big plays when the ball was sent their way. As for the defense the core of the team is within the linebackers. They ensured the ball stayed in front of them and were very aggressive in persuit of the ball carrier. All of the Kansas City Coyotes linebackers possess a lot of speed and the ability to reach the ball carrier in little to no time forcing opposition teams to only really receive short runs. If the Kansas City Coyotes continue to limit runs after contact and yards after catch I think there are in a fantastic position to win the Ultimi. Not to mention the fact that it appears everyone has already decided the Pythons will leave this game the victors im stoked to watch the Coyotes show the Pythons and the DSFL that everyone should FEAR THE HOWL!!!

Code:
8) Draft Focus
Written: What areas of your team has the biggest holes that you are hoping get filled in the upcoming gigantic S18 draft? What round are you hoping it’s filled?

I would say the biggest strengths of the Kansas City Coyotes would have to be their linebackers and their running backs. Throughout the season these two groups kept the Coyotes In games and won them more than a few as well. With that said I believe the biggest needs looking towards the draft for the Coyotes would have to be our defensive line. I don’t believe the Coyotes managed much in the way of pressure on opposition QB’s this season to such an extent that it almost appeared that the front 7 were trying to prepare to make the tackle Instead of going for the sack. This left the team in a great position to only give the opposition a small gain. Hopefully a revamped front 7 will help keep opposition backs off their game. Another area that needs improvement is our Wide receiver core. Banks was the only positive in what was quite the dismal passing offense. While Banks managed over 900 yards in 14 games the next best receiver only managed a little over 300 yards. So a big focus for next season is to get some secondary receiver threats and maybe a look into a Tight end to round out our passing attack.

S17 ULTIMUS WEEK!!! - Duilio05 - 09-23-2019

Predictions/upset

I'm writing that San Antonio Marshals have a good chance to upset the Tijuana Luchadores and I will be explaining why. Shady and I are better GMs than anyone else in the Development Simulation Football League. We have routinely had the fewest active players play multiple DSFL seasons. Despite having fewer repeat players and no maxed offensive linemen, we have a higher tpe offense and higher tpe Defense than Tijuana. We have the best quarterback. The best two running backs. The best wide receiver. The best tight end. The best Defense line with two of the best defensive ends. The two best linebackers. The best Defensive backs of the league. Tijuana was cocky all season, but San Antonio will prove tonight we are a top DSFl team and continue our run to a Ultimini. Ruff ruff & Mathias will get 200+ rush yards. McMahon will throw zero INTs. And Purchase will get another pick six. And Pete Parker will have another return touchdown. We will have a perfect game and simply destroy Tijuana to a tune of 37-14. After winning all San Antonio supporters will be welcome to party with the team at Eskimo Brothers Database Bed and Breakfast for Eskimo Brothers Database Bed and Breakfast Bacon Lettuce Tomato sandwiches.

Interview a star - @Frick_Nasty player Mo Berry with the Yeti were auto killed from the Playoffs, but still made the playoffs

how did it feal to lose your first playoff game as a GM?

Do you thinking being a GM will be more fun than being HO? And why.

What player do you wish Colorado could trade for, and how would they make the yeti better?

Have you named your dog yet and did you choose that name?

You know coming in Midway through the season expectations were low for us but the ability to get big wins against Yellowknife and Arizona were huge. Making the playoffs itself was a huge accomplishment for this team. Although we lost to Yellowknife in predetermined fashion I expect to see us back in the playoffs next year hopefully with a chance to advance to conference championship and make a run for an ultimus.

I think GM will be loads of fun. I like to think I'm good at figuring out what we need to do to be competitive and I've learned a lot on what it takes to be a GM while being in HO and becoming the DSFL simmer.

I don't think there is one specific player I'd trade for. With this being Morgan Marshalls last year in the NSFL id love to get the Fab V back together for one last ride.

I have yet to name our puppy yet but we got some names narrowed down and we will definitely have something set in stone for the day we bring him home.

Robbed
I got robbed twice. Once for San Antonio Marshals and a second time for Baltimore Hawks. For San Antonio Marshals, according to the tpe tracker, we finished the season with the second highest tpe offense and the highest tpe defense. Yet we lost back to back games to Kansas City that knocked us out of home field advantage for the playoffs. Despite not having home field advantage, we were testing a 50% win rate against Tijuana. You’d think after not winning a playoff game for over five seasons, the sim would let us finally win a playoff game during one of San Antonio’s best seasons ever. Nope we got crushed. For whatever reason, despite setting our strats to max run we kept trying to throw it.

For Baltimore Hawks we pulled of upset against favorites Yellow Knife Wraiths to get past the conference championship into the Ultimus. However, the sim decided that from the conference championship through the ultimus the away team shall win. My team got robbed twice. Between the two I think San Antonio losing to Tijuana yet again hurt the most. As indicated by illegaloctopus in his “Ranking the DSFL Team’s Draft Success”, Shady and I had the best draft of the S18 class with 3 more active players translating to 500+ more total tpe than any other DSFL team. I don’t know why, but the sim just hates San Antonio and it hurts that no matter how good the team might be, we won’t win a playoff game.

Draft Focus
Well Scorp and I do not get to draft for Baltimore Hawks until round three of the National Simulation Football League Season eighteen Draft. We do have three 3rd round picks. With such a loaded class it is hard to guess who might drop that far. Further to prevent any draft leaks, I will only be talking about Baltimore’s current roster needs. I keep hearing that Baltimore has an aging team. In my opinion that is not a good assessment of who we are. We have a wide receiver, a quarterback, and several cornerbacks that are just now hitting their peak seasons. We have several young studs including two safeties and one of the league's best running backs. Objectively our oldest positions are linebacker, tight end, and defense line. That said there are not a lot of max TEs in the league in general. Every team needs for players on the defense line. So the biggest hole to fill is linebacker. With the picks we have for this draft, we might just have to bite the bullet and leave a few holes empty until the next reddit class when hopefully we can make some moves to gain a few picks in that draft. Overall I don’t think our team is as thin as people perceive us to be.

S17 ULTIMUS WEEK!!! - UpperNet - 09-23-2019

(13. Sit-down with a star) interview with Portland's star reciever Jake Watson

1. How did you feel about your season so far? Would you go back and change anything if you could?
2. Whats your proudest moment of the season? (and why is it the -32 yard reception)
3. How do you feel about the playoff matchups for the DSFL or NSFL?
4. Which NSFL team do you think youd fit in the most ?

Hey Net, thanks for taking the time to interview me. It will be fun answering your questions and then whooping your Coyotes later tonight wink

1. Honestly, I'm very disappointed in myself this season. Look, I know I'm the third option behind Saba Donut and a freaking full back. But I've been busting my butt all season and where does it lead me? I only averaged 32 yards per game on an absolutely stacked team. I know that I should have done better. And look, I've heard what other players say about me. Telling me I'm the best pass swatter in the league and calling me Jake Dropson. You can't get that out of your head and my 18 drops can only be blamed on myself. I'm happy with how the team's season has gone so far. We got home field advantage and the first overall draft pick. No reason to change anything there

2. My proudest moment is definitely the -32 yard reception. That's a record and I'll forever gloat about that. Other than that, my favorite game was my first matchup against Tijuana. Sure, my team lost which stinks. But I also had a career game, hauling in 2 touchdowns from the greatest QB ever against the worst team ever. Have I mentioned that Scorp sucks?

3. I know nothing about the NSFL yet so I won't dare comment on those playoffs. At the time of this interview, it's about 3 hours until the DSFL conference championships kick off. I truly think that Portland soundly beats Kansas City (sorry) but they've also given hell to very good teams. On the other side, San Antonio has played Tijuana tough all year and I expect Hanyadi and Ruff to lead an upset victory. I want Portland to win it all Wednesday because we're the best team in the league and that's what I expect to happen. I feel very nervous but also very confident in my teammates to go out there and deliver.

4. I think I would slot in well on a team like Yellowknife the most. They have a reputation as a deadly offense and I can definitely come in as another huge threat in a year or two. Anywhere would be fantastic to play though and any team who drafts me will get a great player

6 Our Tine)

The Coyotes should be looked at to be favored to win the ultimus and I'll tell you why. The team is filled with talent both on offense and defense. Let's start on offense we got our rushing duo in michael vincent and orien drake. Both combined for 2,417 and 15 TDs. And then we got the recieving game with star reciever Dexter Banks ll who leaded the league in TDs and hauled in 64 catches for 934 yards. We also had max lovete on the other side as #2 recoever he had decent numbers at 33 catches and 381 yards. Then on the defense side of the ball we had me and Virtanen who combined for 267 tackles both of us will probably be early round draft picks and we was definitely the best LB core in the DSFl. And then for corners we had Korrin Abernathy who was second in tackles for corners who was probably one of the too slot corners in the league. Then in the safety spot we had Grimnir who contributed in 53 tackles, 3 interceptions and 4 pass deflects. With Offense and Defense loaded with great talent who is ready to make a splash in the playoffs we will look in a tunnel eyed view against The Portand Pythons in a few hours. This should be a good game let's all enjoy the show.

12. Sit down with a fan) jake watson interviewing me

4) Matchups
tomorrow on wednesdays two powerhouse teams will face eachother making it out to be a exciting Ultimini. Both teams dominated there was to the ultimini and proved how great both of there teams are and with great teams comes with great players. There are so many matchups that would be fun to watch this wednesday but I want to highlight a matchup that I think will be the funniest to watch. Thudd kassel the fierce stent linebacker who is a menace in the run game and then we have jay "footbal" cue the unstoppable playe maker who can make plays with his legs.

On one corner we have thud kassel. Thudd kassel came in this game among the top tacklers in the DSFL he can stop any running back in his path and if he takes away the running game Jay cue us prone to make mistakes. Jay cue other biggest weapon is his legs he can scramble any direction with his speed but with thudd on Tijuana D running is not a options for Jay so jay will be pressured to pass.

On the other corner we have Jay cue. Jay cue is a beast when it comes to passing using his legs he can throw on the run which is one of his main strengths. One thing Jay could outmatch thudd in is his accurate arm he manage to tie Armstrong record showing that he knows how to get it in the endzone. Thudd only had 3 PD thudd is not good in coverage so that wouldn't be that scared to throw it in his direction.

S17 ULTIMUS WEEK!!! - goodvsevil1275 - 09-23-2019

6) Our Time

All I have to say here is that I play on the Portland Pythons and that should be enough to not go into more detail, but that isn't 200 words. Portland led the league in points scored by 30, points allowed by 50, wins by 2.5, passing touchdowns by 8, yards per pass attempt, completion percentage, defensive touchdowns, sacks allowed by 15(!), and total yards. Our two losses against playoff teams were road games when both San Antonio and Tijuana were at their peaks. Almost every measure had Portland rated at #1 and it's impossible to think we aren't the favorites. With great QB play and a fantastic defense, Portland secured home field advantage and easily beat both Tijuana and Kansas City at home, which are our two likely opponents in the playoffs. We also have only lost a single game at home, which was a meaningless game for us in the last week of the season. Our two lowest point totals were against an expansion team and our losses were solely because of turnovers. In no way should Portland lose in these playoffs. We have the best wide receiver, the best cornerback, and definitely the best quarterback in the league. This is a team stacked with talent and it would be a massive disappointment to come up short of an Ultimini win.

9) Enemies

Imagine being a GM (@Hallmonitor_20) and you're literally so bad at tight end that your quarterback still doesn't throw you the ball. Yes, I'm talking about overrated Zach "I'm your rival now" Hall. This guy couldn't even threaten his quarterback enough to throw it to him a few times. He went the entire season with an impressive zero touchdowns. In fact, Hall was so bad at tight end that he had to switch to defensive end as an attempt to be meaningful in some way. Sure, he'll get drafted higher now, but he threw away all of his dignity and switched to defense. Despicable. Loyalty to your position is completely lost on Hall. Now don't even get me started on Joseph "I need a rival" Wottaqs (@illegaloctopus). This dude couldn't defend an old lady in a Walmart parking lot and he somehow wants to come after me for, what? Being a better player? He was a no-show in the biggest game of the year, not even making a single play until making a meaningless tackle on a drive where they gave up the winning touchdown. He's a fraud. I hope his team crashes and burns tonight. Tijuana as a team is awful enough without his presence. With Wofgiak, Tijuana's secondary resembles a donut because of the giant hole in the middle. Both of these players are garbage and not even worth considering for a draft pick. At least one of them made the playoffs.

12) Sit down with a Star

For my interview with a star in the DSFL playoffs, I managed to trick Net Gaines (@UpperNet) to agree to an interview.

1. We all know that the Coyotes could have been better this season but they were very good against good teams. You had a very good season yourself. What was your best game in the regular season?

Net: Yea I think we had a solid season could have been better but I'm satisfied. If I had to single out a game I did the best I'd say week 11. I was solid both in the run and coverage in that game.

2. Everyone knows how important team chemistry is in this league. Who has been your favorite teammate in your locker room?

Net: My favorite teammate in the lockeroom is defiantly Korrin Abernathy. We both talked about just stuff around the league sometimes and hope we are in a lockeroom together in the near future.

3. Again, Kansas City really upped their level of play against the top teams this year. What do your Coyotes need to improve on to take the next step the win the Ultimini?

Net: We just need to focus one game on a time and that would be Portland. Hopefully we all have a good showing today.

4. Just looking at raw numbers, this draft class is stacked at your position. As a middle-late first round prospect, what makes you stand out compared to other linebackers?

Net: If you look at my stats I think that would tell the story of what kind of player I am. I have impressive stats both in tackles and Pass Deflects. I'm a Linebacker who can succeed both in coverage and the run game.

All about the quarterbacks-

The fearless leader Cooter Bigsby.... I know that this part of the written portion should be assigned to a head-to-head matchup, but I just don't think it's fair for the rest of the league instead. Let's discuss what cooter has that the entire league doesn't, Cooter has an inept ability to push his team to the best possible position to win regardless of what what the score is says at any moment of the match. Cooter truly has a clutch gene even the Sim can't deny.... now whether or not the Sim decides to make us do the correct thing Like I don't know go for it on fourth instead of kicking a field goal to lose by one point is an entirely different thing but cooter tries his best to put us in positions to win. Another thing he has that I don't see no other quarterback here have is he gives everybody the ball. He doesn't depend on just one player. He makes deep passes, intermediate passes, short passes, He knows how to distribute properly and there's no honest counter to him. There's no defense that can contain him; you can only hope to slow him down. He's been the MVP the past two seasons. I don't care what any of the voters say. It's not even up for discussion on my opinion. There's no other quarterback in this league that can lead a team and put a team in a position from being from behind to win a game like Cooter can. With Cooter at the helm we're never really out of a game. That's why we're never really concerned. You don't really see a lot of Wraiths running around crying and complaining and whining over the weeks. Just let the Sim do what it does because even the Sim can't stop cooter.

Next year-

Another year another article of me explaining why it'll be our time next year..... It's not the best feeling, I'll be honest. Once again, we led the pack as the best team in a regular season. I don't know why we can't get through this push. I want to blame the Sim.... I refuse to blame management because they put the best team possible together in my opinion. I don't know if it's the chemistry on defense if it's the offensive line not giving Cooter enough time, if it's just silly mistakes But I want to blame the sim.... So here I am to explain to you why next year is going to be a year again.... sigh.

Here we go:

We have the best quarterback in the league. We have the best wide receiver in tandem in the league. We have the most dynamic running backs in the league. We have the best defensive line in the league. We have the best DBs in the league.

I don't know what else I need to say. I guess we don't have the best chemistry. So we'll work on that on the off season. And I guess with that prioritized there's no reason that we shouldn't bring home the trophy next year.

Draft focus-

Honestly, I believe we have the best GM's in the entire league. So from me to choose draft Focus as a topic is kind of an insult to them in my opinion, but I would like to look into certain positions we may want to consider improving. For me, it's pretty simple To be honest, We have an elite defensive line. We have great wide receivers and running backs. We have the best quarterback and d line in the league. We have the great DBs also phenomenal linebackers but the one thing we don't have that we need to invest in every single round that's a scarce commodity Is definitely offensive lineman. I know it's not a popular position. I have to be honest, I'm not sure how Impressive these offensive lineman have been coming from the developmental league, but we need to go offensive lineman every single round in my opinion. Possibly tight end as well for another option to stretch the field... Everybody is locked up through at least two more seasons So you shouldn't have to invest in all the skill positions offensive line maaaaayyyybbbeeee tightend is all we need and regardless how bad the sim tries to screw us There's no way that we don't become the favorites to start a dynasty.

Kickers are people too-

You see that's where you're wrong. You ignorant ignorant sluts. I'm not going to lie I'm only going to get partial credit for this portion of Ultimus week and you know what? I don't mind it at all. I have to say it. Our kicker is the worst person to ever live or exist in this league. Ever. He failed us throughout the whole season. He failed us throughout preseason. He failed Us in the playoffs when it mattered the most.... so following what I stated on my earlier post having the best GM's in the entire league. We made a beautiful trade to get an upgrade in our kickers position. And I know for a fact that it's going to help put us in a prime position to continue to be a contender this season. But our previous kicker can go to hell and every time he wakes up I hope he stubs his toe on the non kicking foot because we already know his kicking foot is already a failure of a foot. You have ruined every sport day even involves kicking its past football at this point. You've ruined soccer. You've ruined kickball. You've ruined hacky sack. you've ruined everything and I hope you forget how to tie your shoes and your forget how to read. Thanks. You are not people ignore every post in here saying you are. *Angry wraith noises*

3) All about the QBs:

11) Trades:
Wow, what a season it has been. Some big moves and trades were made this season that not only had a huge effect on the outcome of the season, but they will also affect the teams involved for several seasons going forward. Possibly the biggest trade that happened during the season was between none other than the two Ultimus contenders themselves, when the Baltimore Hawks traded with the Orange County Otters for Sunnycursed. This was a huge move that impacted every NSFL team in some way or another. The Hawks were in win-now mode, and they showed that by committing to this big of a trade. The Otters, realizing the opportunity and value involved in a Sunnycursed trade, made the decision to trade him. This moved gave the Hawks just the playmaker they needed to make it back to the Ultimus, and it allowed the Otters to begin building around their young and extremely talented offense. Although, at the time of the trade, I don't think either team realized they would be in the situation they're currently in, up against each other in the Ultimus. Now, we will figure out if the win-now move will actually pay off for the Hawks in the end, or if the Otters will come out on top on both ends of the trade. This trade will definitely have an impact on the Ultimus, but it's up to the Otters defense how big that impact will be.

16) Unsung Hero:
This will be a little tough to do, but I'm going to argue for a QB here. I know it's kind of hard for a quarterback to really be underrated or "unsung", but I feel like Franklin Armstrong definitely fits the description. When the Otters traded away Sunnycursed in the middle of the season, I don't think anyone expected them to make it as far as they did, let alone win it all and bring another trophy to Orange County. One of the biggest factors in this huge upset victory (a win that was predicted to have less than a 20% of actually happening) was rookie QB Franklin Armstrong. Throughout the playoffs, Armstrong had a 6-0 touchdown to interception ratio. Not only that, he also started playing out of his comfort zone, as the Otters focused more on the run game with a spread scheme. Armstrong was even the overall leading rusher in the Ultimus! His biggest mistake was a fumble in the Ultimus that the Hawks turned into a quick four and out. For a QB that struggled heavily with turnovers during the regular season, this was a huge improvement, and it was due to this that the Otters were able to claim their 6th Ultimus trophy. Even as a QB, his performance will probably go somewhat unnoticed, but his performance was huge for the team and is most likely one of the biggest regular season to playoff improvements in league history.

Gona post other ones just reserving a spot and filling it as I get inspiration and modivation.

Numbah 3

QB Franklin Armstrong came into the Ultimis finals with a steep challenge ahead of him. He was not as good a QB on paper as his counterpart QB Havran. His team did not do as good as the other team on the field, the Baltimore hawks, in the regular season. They were bearly an above 0.500 team going 7-6. Their team mascot was an otter, a river-dwelling creature with a shiny pelt craved by traders for a century with little to no battle capabilities. They hailed from Orange County, California, an area best known for being politically different than the rest of the state crippling their ability to draw large numbers of fans. Their home base was also known for being filled with rich people living comfortable lives. Oh, the other side Baltimore is a slum ridden, crime overwhelmed, the battlefield between gangs and squalor. They even had an award-winning television show dedicated to how hard and how tough it is to grow up in Baltimore. The Baltimore mascot is a hawk, a skyborne predator evolved to and bred to dive out of the air to grab unsuspecting pray who don't know they're already dead. Clearly, that hawk is looking to get him some meat off that otter's bones. Yet despite all these difficulties he ran out there onto the field threw 17-27 287 yards and 3 TD's to win the title for the beautiful people. If there ever were a personification of a modern-day gladiator it has to be Armstrong.

Numbah 4

HERE COMES MONGO. No, but really let's break down one of the crazy things about this final. Baltimore should have won let's be honest They've got three stud cornerbacks a stud QB fantastic wide receivers and a running back who isn't a joke. They've even got straight 90's in their safety positions. Their defensive backfield is a giant aegis defense network just floating out there. But Mongo don't care, Mongo is coming for you. This is Mongo's first year out there in the Major league and he really doesn't care for no top of the (ball) taker, he makes his sour cream by hand as a good Christian boy should. He doesn't have 100 speed yet, he could really use some days... weeks in the gym, he could really run a few cone drills this offseason, and could run less pass and run blocking drills. He's not really the smartest tool in the shed or the sharpest, but sometimes you really don't want either of those. Mongo doesn't know to not go to that Baltimore safety, Mongo doesn't know how fast those defenders will be on him. Mongo don't know what color those cornerbacks aerial jutisu belts are. But here came mongo, and mongo got 6 catches 99 yards and a touchdown for the biggest and most important game of his life.

Numbah 8
Outlaws Outlaws Outlaws. What oh what can you do. You did the best in the regular season than anyone only to fall to those dammed otters again. See the biggest problem the outlaws face is that they're team is going to be impossible to improve unless they hit big in the draft or If they suddenly replace their gm with a John J Dunbar Impersonator. They have one hole on a team that is too far down in the draft to reasonably get a star to fill that hole. The Defensive tackle position is incredibly valuable this draft with the first overall almost a lock to be ol Bjorn Ironside. But after him comes talent with question marks and hope. Trea bacon is the obvious next best candidate and will conventionally fill that hole. But he won't fill that hole for a year or two while one of the other Defensive ends the team has will carry on as a tackle. I don't think numbah one overall is in the picture so the major motivation for the outlaws is to look at what the pick the outlaws can make at that spot to provide the best trade bait. And now we come full circle to the choice the outlaws will have to make, (if they haven't traded the pick away already for some draft day chaos) most mock drafts have either Ruff ruff or Louisiana purchase going to Arizona in the first. Ruff Ruff has been a good dog in the DSFL always preforming to his best, But Louisiana will be the most wanted man in the league come Monday. The choice is hard and will define Arizona's next year. Tick tock outlaws tick tock.

Numbah 15

Cory Trevor stepped off the private plane to Disney world real happy to be there. He'd been staying at Orange county for years not playing and had gotten to the point where he wasn't sure that people still remembered he was apart of the team. But he still suited up every week and signed that contract extension his baffled, but happy to collect the money, agent gave him. He was the number two running back for the best team in the league. Somehow the number one guy never got injured but no one complained about having to do less work for the same pay. Disney world was a madhouse with all the other players. No one recognized Ol Trevor C but that's what made the day so special. He had the phone numbers of everyone on the team and just has to ask them to go somewhere else and the lines on every ride would evaporate. Most families took days to get through everything Disney world had to offer but Trevor got to see and experience it all in one glorious day where he effectively had the park to himself. After riding all the rides and seeing all the sights (including a great safari zone trip with no one to bother the tour guide who kept giving him weird looks) he sat down at the Germany stop of the Epcot tour of the world circle thing and ordered a beer, waiting for the fireworks to go off. What he didn't know was that fireworks were about to go off.
"Just got word from the FO of the hawks, they're offering big money, Yes for you Trevor I'm serious"
