This offseason was a rather harsh one for Leaf, coming off his third straight season of playoff heartbreak, only to be told shortly afterwards that he’ll be traded to Chicago, almost considered to be where good players go to die and retire. This did not affect Leaf, as he was quick to adapt to the conditions in the Windy City, it’s not as cold as the northern Canadian city of Yellowknife, but modest conditions, including warmer summers in the city of Chicago. Leaf was also joined by his Head Coach from Yellowknife, Videl-San, but this time, she is the General Manager of the Butchers, which even surprised Leaf at that exact moment, but he also had to adapt to the culture in Chicago, including the fact he was going to be reunited with his former rival, Rose Jenkins, who was a bit disgusted of Leaf’s presence in the Locker room.
Besides team bonding, Leaf surprised everyone on the team with a vacation in Hawaii in which included an exhibition game against the so called "Honolulu Islanders" a team consisting of players of Hawaiian decent. The game was lopsided by a final score of 48-14 crushing of the Locals, with Leaf showing his pass rusher capabilities.

Well Last season with the Tijuana Luchadores was Amazing up and till the point we lost one game and lost all that hard work. With the time between the end of the last season I’ve been drafted by the Colorado Yetis, Won the DSFL Kicker and Punter of the year and chose to stay down in the DSFL. With staying down I spent my offseason down in Australia to work on my kicking skills with a few friends I have in the AFL Focusing on long distance accuracy and working under pressure.

After returning from Australia I spent time meeting the new members of the Special team I would be working with for this season. They are a bunch of good guys and I think once the season starts off we will be the same well oiled machine we were in the last season. How we got in the same headspace was watching this new wrestling show on TNT called All Elite Wrestling Dynamite and playing tons of video few being some older ones like paper mario, Donkey Kong Country, 2 and 3. As well as some newer ones like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Gears of War 5 and AFL Evolution.

The time he spent messing around with his now friends, his teammates, was an experience like nothing else to him. Previously his teammates were nothing more than pawns being changed constantly, flipping or flopping however their coaches so desired. But the Copperheads head coach was different. He prided himself on continuity, and team chemistry. A life spent drowning in the hurricane that is the NSFL free agency can be a frightening one indeed. But coach AdamS provides a safe and secure blanket for his players, protecting them from the harsh reality of the world. The Copperheads may have been a terrible team in the past, but they're slowly making the playoffs, pushing top teams just a little further than they thought they might be pushed. I’ve officially had one off-season now and it was a lot wilder than I would have imagined. I spent my first season playing for the Kansas City Coyotes, only to find out around draft time that our team would be contracting. That meant that if I didn’t called up, I would be playing for a new team in the DSFL. I felt quite conflicted on the matter. I consider myself a very loyal person. I don’t care for players jumping ship and ring chasing. If there are circumstances that make things unbearable, that’s one thing. Jumping teams because of a down season is another. The Coyotes will always be my first home and it sucks watching them contract the way they did. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity they gave me, and I won’t forget it
On the flip side, everything happens for a reason. I went second overall in the contraction draft to the Tijuana Luchadores. My GM was so excited to have me, and it really gave me good vibes about having to join a new team. At the time, we didn’t know if I would be playing there next season, but it really didn’t matter. To see the faith he already had in me showed me that I ended up in a great situation. The next big moment came in the NSFL draft.
It’s the moment I have been looking forward to for a long time now. Various GMs reached out to me and I knew there were a couple teams I wanted to play for above the others. When the actual draft came around, I was thrilled to hear my name called out 8th overall by the New Orleans Second Line. I felt a great connection to the team, and I knew I was once again in a great situation. I spent the time since both drafts getting to know my new teammates and it’s been great. I can’t wait for the season to start and see how everything shakes out.
I hope the DSFL is ready for the Luchadores this season. We have so many young and active guys in the locker room along with veteran players mixed in there. Keep an eye on that Mason Blaylock guy, he is hungry and looking to build off his Defensive Rookie of the Year season.

*Beep Beep* Thudd honked his horn as he pulled in the drive way of his best mate, one Zach Hall.
Hall gleefully rushed out his front door almost forgetting to lock it on his way out. The Tijuana Law hawk skillfully drifted his Motorcycle with the brand new side car in position as Zach somersaulted gracefully into the seat of the sidecar.

"Bro, don't tell me you forgot the snackaroonies, my dude" said Thudd.
Without hesitation, Zach reached into both pockets of this green camo cargo shorts and produced two family sized bags of Cheetos puffs.
"My man" said both the men as they exchanged fist bumps. Thudd fumbled in the side pouches of the motorcycle. "Whatcha got their broski?" Zach inquired. "Close your eyes and find out brochacho" Zach did as instructed and when he opened his eyes he was holding a motorcycle helmet. But not just any motorcycle helmet. One shaped like the Philadelphia Liberty bell. Thudd Kassel was already wearing his. "Yooooooooooooooooooooo" exclaimed the excited Defensive End as he fist pumped the air in unison with the equally excited Linebacker.
Zach buckled in snug into the sidecar already wrist deep in the bag of Cheeto puffs "Lets go to Ponomo, Thudster!" Thudd revved the motorcycle's engine giving a few pops of backfire as the pair rode off into the Philly sunset, destination Ponomo, California. What a off season it was going to be.

Entering the league is always difficult. You have to get adjusted to a new place to live, new regime. Hell you even have to change how you diet.

Randy Vuxta, WR for the Tijuana Luchadores, embraced these changes after he got drafted. But after the third day of grueling practice in the heat, Randy felt the pain of the league creeping up. What happened next set a precedent for the attitude for the rest of the season.

GM of the Luchadores proposed Rookie free day. Instead of full practice Saturday, the rookies left early to go on a trip out to the local rapids.

So after practice on Saturday, the rookies boarded a bus towards the local rapids. Kyle Idlewyld in the bag cracking jokes with Barnabas Cole. The two were throwing fries at each other until one hit George Bjornsson. The entire bus goes quiet, George gets up and throws a handful of fries back, initiating the ultimate food fight.

The fun did not just stay on the bus, as the team pilled out into the river. Victor Moreno was so stoked instead of waiting to get in the raft he dove straight in. The rooks split into two groups, offense (and Bjornsson) and the defense. Most of the time in the river was spent trying to capsize the other boat, with the big defensive players winning a majority of the battles.

When the rooks were done in the river, they climbed aboard the bus ready to head back home, tired after a long day of bonding. Unfortunately, on the way back the bus began to smoke and everyone on board had to get off. The engine had just given up. Miles Royal checked out under the hood and informed the rest of the rooks there was nothing we could do with the parts we had. Roughly 15 miles from the nearest town and depleted from the days activities, the rooks decided to spend the night on the shuttle.

Each rookie described where they came from, why they play the game and who they play for. Mothers, brothers, fathers, and sisters were talked about, as well as childhood stories like the time Randy got stuck to a light pole during his Christmas vacation in New York. Inspectah Deck even led the team in a form of karaoke.

The next morning, a tow truck arrived and the rooks were able to make it back home. But nothing will take away the sense of community these rookies have for each other. It may not be working the fundamentals, but these rooks will have the best mindset of looking out for each other both on and off the field.
