PAY. THIS. MAN.

Great content, retro. I touched upon this in my podcast today, so great timing, too. As a CB, this is particularly dope!

We don't know that.

I've had games at CB where the opposing receiver didn't appear in the box score.

Interesting haha this was what I hoped because a cornerback your goal isn’t to accumulate stats but rather to lockdown on receivers and not allow incompletions to the point where they stop throwing your way. Newer CBs need to understand that

There's been strong speculation that its a thing, as most often the CB with the lower TPE level gets more of teh splashy stats, ints & PDs; which makes since if QBs are targeting the weaker CB. Of course it could also just be that the weaker CB is lined up against the stronger WR more often. With over two years of data you'd think someone would have done the actual analysis of that..

The data required for that kind of analysis isn't tracked by the sim, though.

Dermot and... someone, I forget who, it was a while ago... started trying to gather it. Rewatching sims and tracking things play by play to see how many times DBs were targeted, allowed passes, TDs etc.

Ultimately it was too much effort for not enough payout (like a lot of things around here, tbh) so it never got to a point where we had enough information to actually analyse it properly.

the payout would be knowledge of how the sim works so maybe it's something I give a try this summer.
