Cushing May Refuse Certain Teams - Muford - 07-14-2017 (07-14-2017, 04:09 AM)kckolbe Wrote:I disagree, but you made a great point. I don't really expect a team to "obey" me and pass on me if I am the BPA. Look at the NFL. Eli Manning and John Elway famously said they wouldn't play for the #1 team, both got drafted anyways, then traded. Value is value. Before I continue, of course I know you look at it as a roleplay and fantasy. B) But going off on that, in real life too, I think it's quite ridiculous that Elway and eli forced their way out of an organization because of their refusal to play for said teams. I would draft them and make them rot on the bench, going back to they are rookies with nothing under their belts, who the hell are they to make demands?! That's coming from an Elway fan. Also interesting to note that you see yourself as a first round prospect. I look at myself the same way and haven't heard from a few teams, but if said teams drafted me I would still gladly play for them just under the simple fact that hell, I got drafted I'm ready to go out and prove everyone out there that I'm the real deal. Doesn't matter if I'm on the best or worst team, but it's all on personal preference and personality i guess. B) So, ESPN did a great 30 for 30 on the Elway situation (Elway to Marino) where you see the mistakes that were made and the obstacles to making a deal happen sooner. Really interesting stuff. Remember that we, as players, are different. There is not a lot of variety in O line builds compared to LBs, so playing for different teams is less likely to affect how you need to build. I want to be great for my team, and if I feel I won't be able to, then I tell them I think I'm a bad pick. As I mentioned in my recent presser, I told that to HENDRIX only to learn I was wrong, and would be thrilled to play for them (and they had the same record as the Cats). I also told Liberty I would love to play for them. Hell, they were the first team I reached out to. Good or bad isn't what I care about. Bad and making no effort to get better is different. Example: I am a BAD system fit for the Cats. You may disagree, but that is my belief and has been from the beginning (see How to Make Me Want You for details). I told them what I think we would need to do to make it work, and the fact that they didn't reach out to me to talk about it tells me that they don't care about making it work, meaning I would play poorly, be losing, and feeling unappreciated. Who wants that, even for a year? In addition, developing over that year would limit the number of teams that I COULD be a fit for in S3. It's doing a lot more damage than I think you realize. Really interesting stuff. Don't get me wrong, I've read your articles and reasoning why. I've read a lot of people's arrivals and their reasonings why or why not team a should draft them, etc. That's not the point I'm making or anything like that. To go off your last thing, I think you're overthinking that it would cause a lot more damage then not. Let's say they do draft you and you want to sit out (whichever team) then it'll hurt you in the long run by simply not being able to get training in and wasting a year of progression / pushing 1 year closer to regression, just to go back into the draft the next year. I'm not trying to argue or anything, just how I look at the situation is all. Best of luck to you in the draft, and hope you live up to your 1st round dreams  |
