Offensively the choices are limited, Snowbow and the air attack have been Lackluster. The running game however, has been a bright spot. Vermillion could be in the running for Offensive rookie of the year, rushing for 292 yards on 58 carries with 3 touchdowns to boot. Rotchburns is right next to Vermillion in each category with 58 carries and 291 yards with 2 touchdowns. Those are the two Offensive players who could be considered for awards, altgough the competition at running back is fierce, and Minnesotas two backs might not have enough. The season is still young though so they have time to turn up the gas. On the Defensive side of the ball I think the Grey Ducks have at least two guaranteed award winners. Chainbreaker has made his case and in my opinion LOCKED in defensive player of the year. He has devastated opposing offenses with 42 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, a forced fumble, and much to the dismay of quarterbacks around the league, 4 sacks. He has been hammering opposing quarterbacks, and disrupting rushing attacks all year and still has time to cement his claim even further. The other Grey Duck on defense who I think is a lock for an award is Wasrabi Gleel. He has made a very strong statement that he should be defensive rookie of the year. He has made an impact in every aspect of the ball defensively, with 31 tackles, two tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 3 pass defenses, and an interception. He has done so much defensively and will undoubtedly improve tremendously before seasons end. There are many other ducks who can turn up the heat in the next half of the season and really push to make a claim for awards, but right now, the only two in my mind who are guaranteed are Chainbreaker and Gleel, a feared duo that makes up the strongest links in the leagues best linebacker corps. RE: (S24) - PT 3 - Midseason Mania - deadlunatic - 08-24-2020 After looking at all positions for the Luchadores, I think our team's best bet for an award is going to be D. Howlett. He currently leads all receivers in total yards with 320 and an insane average of 15.2 yards per catch. He only has two touchdowns so far, the only real know against him getting Wide Receiver of the year. And we still have a few games left for him to catch a few more touchdowns. If he can hang on to the receiving yard lead he already has and get close to the top guys in touchdowns, there is no reason he should not get the award. The stats are with a top five receiver across from him taking catches and touchdowns away. If they both manage to stay in the top 5 of the receiving stats, they should both get the award and share as the two top dog receivers for this season. Also fighting those two amazing running backs for touches. So Receiver of the year award for S24 of the DSFL is going to mister D. Howlett. Next season, that up and coming Mark Walker is gunning for some awards. Stay tuned. Of course that's assuming every available player isn't called up to the majors because of the expansion. Linebacker this season, only one season removed from winning DPOTY last year. His 42 tackles this season are easily the most by a defender, and he's tied for most sacks in the league with 4--the next defender after him is Adam Schell with 36 tackles and 3 sacks. Moreover, he spearheads a Minnesota Grey Ducks defense that has come away with a couple big upsets in the last few weeks, and it can be argued that the Grey Ducks defense is the best in the league. While his statistical achievements are easier to analyze, it's his role in the LB room that is understated. Helping upcoming LB Wasrabi Gleel improve week-in-and-week-out, it seems Chainbreaker has an heir-apparent for when he inevitably is called up to the ISFL. Gleel and Chainbreaker's playing style compliments one another, as Chainbreaker high speed allows him to control the outside rush and make tackles in the secondary, while Wasrabi Gleel has been a thumper in the middle of the defense, and already showed off his intelligence on an interception on the goal line against Norfolk. It is entirely within the realm of possibility that Chainbreaker wins DPOTY and that Gleel wins DROTY at the end of this season if their production continues. 217 woirds RE: (S24) - PT 3 - Midseason Mania - WildfireMicro - 08-24-2020 SHL PT RE: (S24) - PT 3 - Midseason Mania - Kotasa - 08-24-2020 For this I wanted to cover two teammates one on the side of the ball I play on, defense, another for the offensive side of the ball. I believe Tijuana is playing really good football and has stayed in games well enough to be the best 2-2 team in the league. The Tijuana defense would not be what it is without Adam Schell, second in the league in tackles Schell has been the face of a newly reloaded defense for the Tijuana Luchadores. Racking up thirty-six tackles, three tackles for loss, a forced fumble and three sacks, Schell has been one of the best linebackers in the entire league. These are efficient stats as well, on a team that boasts the fourth best defense in the developmental simulation football league in terms of yards per game. He has also been a mentor in the locker room for some of the rookies even after only being in the developmental simulation football league for one season. I truly believe that Schell can continue the pace he is at, and if the Tijuana Luchadores are able to continue their efficiency on defense that he could be able to earn the Linebacker of the year award, quite possibly the defensive player of the year award if he continues to make splash plays. On the flip side offensively it is tough, we have two stud receivers and some solid running backs. However, I want to nominate an offensive lineman. The game starts in the trenches and one of the best players we have in there is rookie Adam Mellott. Sliding into left tackle is a big assignment for a rookie but Adam has done a phenomenal job at keeping the rock moving through the air or on the ground. Through four games Adam has allowed zero sacks and has racked up a solid fifteen pancakes! He will be going to the probowl at the very least this year if not ending up as offensive rookie of the year. Code: 333 words RE: (S24) - PT 3 - Midseason Mania - xTri - 08-24-2020 PBE PT |
