NSFL Discord - DELIRIVM - 05-26-2017

I like to think both supplement each other. We have to simply embrace that forums are a dying medium. They're slow, plodding and unintuitive for modern day communication. While those are problems, forums have a distinct advantage over chat programs like discord in the way of media dumping. There is no way everyone would take the time to scroll through huge posts on a program like discord.
Frustrations often boil over when it takes a very long time for people to respond to others through a board messaging system. I have had times where I've PM'd people on the SHL or GOMHL and it's taken them 3 days to get back to me simply because they didn't see it or it was too much hassle. But I've never had that problem with discord.
That being said I think they can actually be symbiotic in relationship and create a great atmosphere. The ones protesting discord on the SHL have never truly made any good arguments and spew the "safe space" defense at will.
It's your league and you get final call overall. But I think discord is a boon to the league and not a detriment. Retention numbers go up when people aren't frustrated by a slow medium.

So baller removes the chat feature on the forum to increase the activity on the forum, and then yall just go and create a discord?
In the early stages of a league you NEED the activity focused on the forum. You don't NEED a discord, not too mention most people in here are in other leagues with members here and if they really couldn't bear to wait for a PM, I'm sure they could message them by other means anyway.

I kid, and honestly, this discord hasn't detracted much, if any, activity. Most of my onsite activity has also been via PMs versus on board. Should we remove the PM feature?

We need to have the PM feature it makes contract offers and trading so much easier for Gms and players who don't want to use discord.

But it doesn't contribute to on-site activity so we should probably ignore any benefits. No discords, no PMs.
