I would look into weighting stats for defense. A tackle should be worth less than an INT. Hell, for DBs, you might want to make tackles count AGAINST them, as most tackles among CBs come after allowing a catch.

Yep. This is why I was surprised to be rated highly last season.

Its kind of a bummer that we can't see how many catches a DB has allowed and how many targets. That would be a nice indicator maybe.

You can only really tell if you watch the live stream and take notes atm as far as I can tell.

Honestly, I'd bet a lot of your tackles were from catches allowed by your teammates, cause that secondary was pretty bare.

And the problem with catches is one the NFL has as well. In zone and/or double coverage, how do you know who to count it against?

Thats beyond my understanding tbh. Closest metric I can think of is how in soccer you can sometimes see the number of errors a player (usually the keeper) made that led to goals. Something similar in NFL could work for catches maybe but it's not gonna be objective I suppose.

So, in the NFL, there ARE people who track it, but it's not an official stat because there is judgement involved. The same is true of drops in the NFL. It's not an official stat because what one evaluator calls a drop another will call a bad pass.

Basically, if you are a number 1 CB, the best bet might be to track how many yards/TDs the #1 WRs got against you. It's a lot faster, still a bit more accurate.
