I do think winning can have an affect on teams but should absolutely not be the end all be all of a DSFL GMs focus. I still think it's important to do what you can with your team to put them in a position to win, but again should not be the primary focus. We're here to help develop players, winning can help but what's important is the LR, culture and teachings you pass on to new players in the league. Thank you for this write up! I do believe something I should’ve expounded on more is that winning does matter in some ways. Terrible seasons can create quiet locker rooms or bad cultures in ways that are outside of a DSFL GM’s control sometimes. It’s not easy to make the best of those situations, but we should still try to shape the way users think about winning and losing as the main prerogative of this league while that’s happening. Appreciate your response RE: DSFL GMing: Points of Concern - Swanty - 03-23-2021 All DSFL GM’s should view each other as coworkers. Agreed! There should be a concerted effort to heavily discourage DSFL lifers. I agree as long we're talking about users who hit 250 as fast as possible and stop earning, with the express intention of avoiding a callup. Users whose earning pace only allows them to earn a small amount of TPE per season but still enjoy themselves are likely never going to see an ISFL snap. But if they are active, engaged and happy with that arrangement, they shouldn't feel like they're pressured to not recreate when their DSFL eligibility runs out. Everything trickles down/Winning doesn’t matter. Agreed! Please don’t make people position swap unless it’s unavoidable or they are 100% open to it. Hard agree on this. A brand new rookie may very well say yes without having much idea around the ramifications of that decision, other than that it will immediately help their new DSFL team. GMs should talk them through the pros and cons of playing at each position, what their relative competition might look like in the big leagues, how it'll affect their sim viewing experience and box scores, how it'll affect their draft stock etc etc before letting them take the plunge. DSFL GM’s may have the most important jobs in the league. Couldn't agree more. If your draft class stays 100% active and engaged (max earning and immediate callups shouldn't necessarily be a factor) then you probably deserve GMotY, regardless of how the team did in the sim. This was a great read, thank you for sharing! My DSFL locker room was integral in getting me invested in the league and keeping me around; first impressions mean a lot, and the DSFL experience is incredibly important to the user experience as a whole. Thanks for sharing Jimi! RE: DSFL GMing: Points of Concern - Thiath - 03-23-2021 Wait I thought only drama articles were allowed to get views. What is this positive nonsense. Yes, winning an Ultimini or having the best record obviously are big deals, but your job as a DSFL GM isn't to win, it's to get new users acclimated to the league and to help them integrate into the community. RE: DSFL GMing: Points of Concern - Mooty99 - 03-23-2021 This is a superb article, I couldn't agree more with what you say in it RE: DSFL GMing: Points of Concern - Kotasa - 03-23-2021 (03-23-2021, 11:15 AM)Jimi64 Wrote:Agree with you 100%, again amazing article and needed to be said!(03-23-2021, 10:57 AM)Kotasa Wrote: Fantastic article Jimi, agree with you on these points.
