Also, the sim doesn't use TEs very much (believe me) so the changes would have a limited impact. The sim WILL use TEs if you're set as a primary receiver or if it's in the strategy your team is implementing. 85 will have impact. Trust me. If I had 85 speed as a DE I would destroy the offensive line. But I agree, 85 is good enough for a TE. They will be faster than a DE but not insane. TEs are a mix of the Fullback and the WR. The fact that a TE is an all-around guy with decent speed and hands he's already good. The point of a TE in this sim is to be the middle guy from blocking and receiving. If you really want a receiving Tight End, I suggest you make a WR and plug him at TE, like someone said up there in the other posts Using a TE can be versatile as he can help in the blocking game which is his job, even if he is a vertical threat. The blocking with a TE is very underrated as he could easily stop an Edge Rusher. *The TE position has a problem - Sweetwater - 08-13-2017 (08-13-2017, 10:42 AM)Blaster Wrote:The sim WILL use TEs if you're set as a primary receiver or if it's in the strategy your team is implementing. The problem with just making a WR and plugging him in at TE is that you cant have the size of a TE. In the real NFL the idea of a Vertical threat TE is OP. There's a reason Greg Olsen has 3 consecutive 1000+ yard seasons. There's a reason Travis Kelce is the Chiefs' primary target. Both of them had more yards than over half of the NFL's #1 WRs. These guys are fast and large. If you have to, nerf the vertical threat's blocking and strength abilities. But to not give them the speed that reflects the actual play in the NFL is sad. And to your statement on DEs having 85 speed. The two fastest DEs in the 2017 combine not only ran slower than the 3 fastest TEs, but they were also considered to small and weak to be true DEs, and ended up on teams that have changed them to OLBs in a 3-4. *The TE position has a problem - Blaster - 08-13-2017 (08-13-2017, 01:30 PM)Sweetwater Wrote:The problem with just making a WR and plugging him in at TE is that you cant have the size of a TE. I know about the NFL and how body types matter. This is a sim engine that does not implement size throughout. The only reason size matters in this game is to Block or Fighting Blocks. If you want a pure Receiving Tight End, make a WR. These TEs in the sim are supposed to be able to block and catch, you just have to balance it in your own way. I don't understand where you're coming from bringing the NFL Combine into the sim. 85 speed in this SIM would be destroy offensive lines IN THIS SIM. My statement was my DE would be able to destroy offensive lines if my speed was up to 80 in this sim. Not sure why the fastest TEs and fastest DEs in the Combine would matter here. *The TE position has a problem - Sweetwater - 08-13-2017 (08-13-2017, 01:34 PM)Blaster Wrote:When you think of the sim, plugging a WR into the TE position doesn't matter. I guess I'm bringing up the combine because I had, apparently incorrectly, assumed that the Sim would at least attempt to mirror real life. I was using example from real life because it seemed applicable to the situation of determining the comparative max speeds of different positions. *The TE position has a problem - 124715 - 08-13-2017 (08-13-2017, 04:12 PM)Sweetwater Wrote:I guess I'm bringing up the combine because I had, apparently incorrectly, assumed that the Sim would at least attempt to mirror real life. I mean, we do want it to be that way, and some of it is the sim. But if we want the NSFL to be realistic, we have to design the archetypes to adapt to that. The NFL should give us guidelines. If possible, an accurate complete redesign of the archetypes would need some way to translate an attribute (ie, 80 speed) to a 40-yd dash time (ie 4.43) so we can benchmark the max speeds to the top, maybe, 10% of the 40 times from that position at the combine? *The TE position has a problem - Blaster - 08-13-2017 (08-13-2017, 06:54 PM)124715 Wrote:I mean, we do want it to be that way, and some of it is the sim. It's either 80-85 speed max for a TE. You don't go higher than that. *The TE position has a problem - SimmerDownBruhh - 08-13-2017 (08-13-2017, 08:25 PM)Blaster Wrote:It's either 80-85 speed max for a TE. You don't go higher than that. I don't see why 90 shouldn't be the max at least for a V-Threat TE. The whole point of it is to show a mismatch to who's guarding them. Whether it's a LB or a Safety. It's their mantra. Lol How can a Vertical Threat live up to it's name without speed that's higher than some defenders? Is there really a huge difference between 85 and 90 speed? Or is it too much for the defense to handle when the receivers get their speed up as well? Lmao Its not like the sim itself will adjust the way it treats the TE position anyways. More than likely, it will still cater to the defense in the long run. Let the TEs eat! *The TE position has a problem - Sweetwater - 08-14-2017 (08-13-2017, 07:25 PM)Blaster Wrote:It's either 80-85 speed max for a TE. You don't go higher than that. Then LBs have to have those same parameters. You said if you had 85 speed as a DE you'd dominate. Of course you would, because your competition, the OLine, is maxed at 75. Well TEs main competition, LBs, can go up to 90. If anything, giving a vertical threat TE 90 speed puts then up to the level of their coverage. If you keep them below that it essentially makes the tight end position useless. Obviously don't just up their speed, Nerf them in other places. VT TEs are notoriously bad at blocking. They have simplistic route trees and almost never run double moves, Nerf their agility. I just think TE has become such a dynamic part of the modern NFL that taking them back to their roles as 'extra OLineman' would be a shame. More and more teams run 2TE sets in the NFL and nobody does here. *The TE position has a problem - Sweetwater - 08-14-2017 I'd love to hear @ErMurazor 's thoughts on this topic, seeing as he has the sim and could feasibly test changes. *The TE position has a problem - Admin - 08-14-2017 (08-13-2017, 10:55 PM)Sweetwater Wrote:I'd love to hear @ErMurazor 's thoughts on this topic, seeing as he has the sim and could feasibly test changes.Fwiw I have never seen a TE have a Gronk or Jimmy type season in the sim, even when they are set as the primary receiver. I haven't done any thorough tests or anything for strictly testing TEs though |
