Sacks. I absolutely need sacks. My whole archetype, speed rusher, is centered around being a pass rusher. I know i’ve been getting pressure on the QB. Watching the sim, I have. It’s hard because it does seem like I get double teamed way too often for my own liking (though i guess being double teamed at all is too often for my own liking). We typically run a 3-4, and while there’s nothing wrong with it, it’s much more friendly to DT’s and LB’s in terms of stats than it is to DE’s. DE’s are typically put in a run stuffer spot in 3-4’s while an LB rushes in from the outside. This isn’t to suggest it’s completely the sim’s fault I haven’t gotten any stats. I have been neglecting increasing my stats as I have been saving up for a trait. Then again, i’m fairly closed to maxed in my stats, so like saving up for a trait isn’t too harmful for me at the moment. Either way, as a rookie I had plenty of sacks, so i’d like this time around to be the same. Alas, that doesn’t seem to be how this will end up. I’ll most likely remain in a run stuffer spot and get more tackles, but remain sackless.

So far, this season is going better than last, but Schell still is not making the impact I'd envisioned for him. We've got a three year plan in place to help to get him back up towards the top of the league again, but a part of the sacrifice of being on an incredible team is sacrificing some of your numbers to your teammates. With rising star Bam Bam McMullet and established beast Derred de Ville it's going to be tough for Schell to lead the league in tackles. However, his 5 PDs are two shy of the best number among LBs and that is a number to be proud of through the first half of the year. Schell's biggest goal for improvement is his hard hitting. With no sacks or forced fumbles through seven games, that is an area that Schell has trained harder on without seeing the results so far. The goal is that with more reps and more hard workouts, we see those numbers starting to rise in the second half of the season. There's lots of room for growth, but Schell has quietly put together a solid season for the Berlin defense so far. But if you're playing Berlin in the coming weeks, you'd better make a game plan for him, because he's certainly not satisfied just yet.

The season is nearing the half way point and I have been enjoying every bit of it. Sure, our team could be doing better but I am honestly really happy and proud of our guys for their hard work and dedication this season. Although our record doesn’t reflect it, my teammates have battled their hearts out and it’s hard not to be excited when battling alongside these warriors. However, even though I’ve loved this season, there are several things I know I can still improve on that will help us finally achieve our goal of a championship season. The most important thing for me to improve on right now I would say is my football IQ. Being in the right position to make a play makes a world of difference on the gridiron, and I have found that often times I would be just a step behind or a second late on making a great play and it has been quite costly for our team. If I can just work more on recognizing what the opponent is trying to do then I know I will be able to help push our team to success. Aside from improving my football IQ, I have also been working on my speed this past year to also help me not lose a step. Even if I’m not quick enough to read the play, I’m hoping my speed will help make up for the extra time I spent trying to figure out what the opponent is doing. Truth be told I think we still have a chance at the championship, as long as my team and I keep pushing ourselves on the weight room and on the field.

Jimi DeSoto needs to improve his ability to warp time backwards for the advantage of his team. Normally he does not possess this ability at all, but it's something he'd like to work on. Ideally, what Jimi would like to happen is that when a bad play happens, he would like to think really hard. For Jimi, who usually doesn’t know what thinking is like, this would mean him scrunching up his face and going “HMMMMM” extremely loudly. He believed the louder he would hmm, the more power he possessed. If done correctly, while he scrunched his face up, time would reverse, and a play would start over. Sometimes Jimi would try this for so long during one play that the next one would be starting by the time he opened his eyes, which would make him think he actually used his power. Philly has had a pretty unlucky season, and frankly Jimi feels that the team has done everything right that they can control, which is leading him to seek out others ways to affect the game that might not show up on stats. Jimi hopes, however, that one day time reversals will be a quantifiable stat, along with voodoo doll pokings. Jimi highly attributes the Philly win against Sarasota to his Peter Patterson voodoo doll, and therefore he is keeping his personal stat of one voodoo doll win. Hopefully a day will come soon when Jimi won’t have to rely on these nefarious means to try and get wins.

One aspect in my game that needs improving is my ability to kick the ball. I should get more distance between myself and the ball when I kick it, or in other words, I should kick the ball further away. The longest kick so far has been 52 yards, which is not terrible, but when the league leader has 62, I'm well behind. I have been talking with the coaches about it.  In their opinion, I should work on my strength and explosiveness. They say those two attributes will only make me a better kicker, but if I increase the workload in practice, that opens the door for injuries. I need to think about it.

Another point that I should improve is my field goal %. Right now, I'm at 10 out of 12, which translates to 83.3%. Once again, not terrible by any means, but when nine kickers have a better % - I should be better. According to the coaches in Yellowknife, the only way to improve something like accuracy is to increase the repetitions. I should kick the ball more, so when I do the same in a game, the odds of failure are lower. Everybody makes mistakes, but that is the difference between good and great players. Great players make fever mistakes. So far this year, I have been closer to a good player than a great player. I might listen to my coaches when it comes down to kicking the ball more in practice.

So far this season, Holliday has played as well as you would hope a rookie would play. He has been solid in tackles and strong in passes defended. He has also forced a few fumbles, even recovering one of those himself. This being said, he definitely needs to get himself an interception soon. It would be his career first, and it would give him the confidence he needs to continue snagging more INTs as the season progresses. It's all about getting that first interception to really get the ball rolling. To take it one step further, I'd like to set a goal of getting one pick-six by the end of the season. Now, that may just come down to circumstance, but it's definitely within the realm of Holliday's capabilities. Hopefully this young cornerback can get the monkey off of his back and grab his first career INT this coming week. He's coming into this week a bit more agile and a lot faster, as he has been training his overall quickness. I know the kid is eager to make a name for himself, and perhaps these improvements will help him get to the ball just a bit faster than the receivers he will be going up against. Go Luchadores!

This is a fun PT this, however Its hard to join in on the festivities when you are currently at the max cap for the DSFL. So We’ll have to get a little creative. If we are talking statistics, which I assume we are, then I obviously want better numbers across the board. I currently rank third in completions, fourth in attempts, fourth in passing yards, sixth in completion percentage, seventh in passing touchdowns, seventh in QB rating and last in throwing interceptions, which is the only statistic I like. I trail the TD passes leader by 9 TD’s, a number that disgusts me. I consider myself an elite QB, but elite QBs don’t trail inactive QBs by 9 in touchdowns, they just don’t. Trail the leader in yardage by 400. Which is really good games worth of yardage. I could catch the leader, but it won’t be easy. All these stats are fun, but the stat I really want to improve on, is my win total. So far while a part of the London in the DSFL I have accumulated a total record of 8-11. I haven’t check the W-L records of the great Royals’ QBs that came before me (CC, Jack and Arrow) but seeing how each of them have guided the Royals to an Ultimini, Im going to go out on a limb and say their records are far more impressive that mine. I still have hopes of a playoff berth, and a Ultimini birth this season, especially after our last game played. We improve our record by playing stingy defense, and mistake-free offense. Easier said than done. We have to play for one another, and not for ourselves. Last week Savior had 2 pivotal interceptions, including taking one back to the house for a score. Its plays like that that will lead us to more wins. Honestly, Savior is on fire right now, and if the rest of the Royals can just follow his lead, we will be just fine!

Mark was drafted with the 28th overall pick in the 4th round as the second TE off the board. He was a bit downbeat to hear that he wasn’t the 1st TE taken in the draft, though he was ecstatic about being selected by the Portland Pythons. Not being taken as the 1st TE has given Mark an extra 1 or 2% more determination to be the most successful TE in the class. His 1st four games have been reasonably slow recoding 13 catches for 94 yards with a single touchdown, with an average of 7.2 yards per reception. Mark was elated to have scored his 1st touchdown in the 4th game of the season. Having a sense of reaching the end zone for the first time in the DSFL is a feeling that will never be forgotten. In the short term Mark has been working on increasing both his Hands & Speed, now both in the 70’s with the aim of reaching as close to the 80 mark by the end of the season. Hopefully these addition will aid Mark in reaching a yardage per reception of more than 8.5 by the end of the season, in addition to scoring a few more TD. Mark would really like to add a Ultimini ring in his rookie season and is working hard to achieve that goal.

Heading into Zee’s second season of regression, he was still hopeful that he could be not only a competitive player on his team, but amongst all of the tight ends in the league. After all, Zee has either come in 2nd place or won the Tight End of the Year award the past 3 seasons, so this expectation was not an unfounded one. Unfortunately, either Zee is getting old really fast, or the league is really moving ahead a lot faster than he though. Currently, Zee has 43 receptions for 286 yards, giving him a sad 6.7 yards per reception average. He already has 2 drops, which is 1 more than last season and as many as the season before. He also has only 21 pancakes and allowed his first sack in 4 seasons. But the worst thing of all, and its been pretty bad already, is that Zee has 0 touchdowns! Did that allowed sack tick off Colby that much? Is the notorious Jay Cue, Jr., stealing all of Zee’s targets? This would all be better if the Wraiths were doing well, but they are not, as they are currently below .500 with an unfortunate 3-4 record. Zee’s not really sure what to do to improve this. Maybe he just needs to apologize for that sack, or maybe its just time to ride off into the sunset...
