RE: (S30) PT 4 - Tough Loss - pauadrian - 08-09-2021 Well, I do not know who Portland Python's biggest rival is so I will just imagine losing to Tijuana who did not take me in my first ever create even if I tanked my stock for them. So if we were to lose to Tijuana in heartbreaking overtime fashion, what I would probably end up doing is writing a song in revenge against them for breaking Tay Swizzle's heart. I know the locker room atmosphere would not be great due to it not only Tay Swizzle not liking them but also The Laz who also has history with them to my knowledge at the very least.I think he would react in frustration as he is known to do at this point of course. The general managers I do believe would manage to calm us down and would be a bit more level headed in keeping the team together and focused towards achieving our one true goal which is championship glory. Either it be that season or the next I truly believe we would react accordingly and just adjust. Making sure to help out our team mates max earn next time around so that this does not happen again. In general I think it would make us more united than ever (210 words) RE: (S30) PT 4 - Tough Loss - Pat - 08-09-2021 The Baltimore Hawks are most definitely the Liberty's top rival at the moment. Both teams have been around since nearly the founding of the league, and both have had very similar on and off-the-field stories in recent years. The Hawks and Liberty have been ordained as, "up and coming" teams by league experts, and while they both are biding their time while the old guard of the league dies off, they both have been hanging in there the best they can. Both will be reaching the apex of their development very soon, and that makes them fit for rivalry. After a close loss, Doy Fieri tries to keep his team's spirits up with food. Unfortunately for him, the last thing more players want after just busting their butts on the field is heavily battered deep fried cheesesteak sandwiches (think like a Monte Cristo), so he's not typically the leader you look for. The two leaders in the locker room are definitely Quarterback Ryan Negs (@"Ryan Negs") and Linebacker Jimi DeSoto (@Jimi64). After losses, both are quick to rally the troops and keep spirits high. There's a reason that DeSoto has been a team captain the last five seasons, and that's because he has tremendous leadership qualities that everyone recognizes. Jimi and Negs are always walking around the locker room cracking jokes and keeping spirits high after losses, and are some of the first to congratulate a player on a good game, or help life someone up after a bad performance. But there are no friendly rivals or teams either, so perhaps every team in this league is a rival. Certainly losing in the OT does not feel any better against any specific team. Yellowknife Wraiths is a team full of fierce competitors. After a tight loss to a rival or any team, nothing needs to be said. Everybody in the room knows what happened and what needs to happen next. We need to practice harder and prepare better, so when the next time comes we are the winners. Losing a tight game in the OT is bittersweet. Often the difference between winning and losing is a small detail or an individual error. If I'm looking at the room from my perspective, it's quiet. The music is not playing. Nobody is explaining or trying to make it better. We lost, that is not acceptable. As I said, everybody knows we should be the winners. If I made a mistake during the game, I will think about that HEAVILY after the game, but errors and mistakes are part of the game. I would make sure those types of errors and mistakes would not happen as often. I'm sure every player will think the same as we have a determined and professional locker room in Yellowknife. RE: (S30) PT 4 - Tough Loss - SchwarzNarr - 08-09-2021 The Colorado Yeti had been playing quite a tough game for awhile against the [redacted for legal reasons], and they just knew that it was something which was going to continue to cause them stress. After fighting to get to overtime in the first place, they ended up losing the game. It was a hard fought loss, which may have made it seem all the worse, but at the end of the day, the team knew that they had made some mistakes and had pieces that they still had to work on. Sitting in the locker room, some of the younger players were taking the losses harder than others, when grizzled veteran NationalSimulation FootballLeague sauntered into the room. Some of the players wondered how he was still in existence, after having spent almost 25 seasons running the entire league before stepping down to becoming a player in the International Simulation Football League, but the younglings knew that he had much wisdom to impart upon them, and therefore, when he spoke, they listened. As they watched him settle down onto the bench, his bones aching, he seemed a little off balance, he shared with the younglings the best piece of advice Melvin had ever heard. "Fuck football, get drunk." So they did. On the dime of the general management team, they headed out to the bar, drowned their sorrows in a couple of bottles, and then made sure to be back and ready for practice the next day. Slightly hungover, but no worse for the wear. RE: (S30) PT 4 - Tough Loss - dude_man - 08-09-2021 So we have lost to Arizona by many points. Like we're talking blowout type scores. I honestly believe Colorado is our biggest rival, but I like to personally hate on the Outlaws cause of Kotasa. OT losses are just absolutely brutal, but when it happens against the Outlaws, all hell would break loose. The sim gods either love or hate NOLA, and while that does suck, it is what it is. I usually give crap to Kotasa whenever we beat them, even though we lose to them like 80% of the time. I usually listen to what Mobiaus has to say cause he is our hype man, and our ranter lol. Usually our LR is pretty good about that kind of stuff tho, and we get over it after a day. But because I usually start the trash talk, Kotasa lets me have it and I just have to deal with it. The Colorado rivalry is interesting because it runs deep in the heart of NOLA and I just roll with it because I'm a bit newer to know have a connection to it. It is always nice to hear the history of the team and so it's great to have a great rivaled team(s) to go against every season. But maybe in the near future, we can change the storyline against Arizona. RE: (S30) PT 4 - Tough Loss - ztarwarz - 08-09-2021 The Outlaws don't really HAVE a rival right now. Over the last few seasons, no team in their league has consistently challenged them. The Sailfish have, but they don't always play each other, we often win when we do, and they're not the team that we keep falling to. No, instead the Outlaws have a situation. Having stormed through the regular season, they have made it to the playoffs. They are heavily favored, and by all rights should go to the Ultimus if not win it. They lose. Over and over and over again. I can't even really choose a team as it keeps being different teams. That being said, at this point the locker room might march on the ISFL HO and force them to resim the game after the...5th? 6th? 80%+ win rate playoff game in a row goes against them. I might legitimately retire or go inactive if it happens again, especially this season. It'd feel incredibly insulting, especially after this season where we have won away games at the Sailfish and the Salamanders. Of course, we immediately followed that up with a blowout loss to the 1 win Sabercats at home, because the Outlaws are freaking cursed. I wouldn't be the most shocked if our GM duo got broken up one way or another if it happened again, and they've generally been a steady rock in the locker room as it's happened the previous number of times. RE: (S30) PT 4 - Tough Loss - shrub02 - 08-09-2021 In this scenario the Otters scored two touchdowns and a field goal in the fourth quarter to come back and force overtime against the dreaded New Orleans Secondline. On the first play of overtime the Secondline take a kick return to the house and win the game. The Otter are dejected. While I wouldn't consider them our biggest rivals, I personally hate losing to them. Mainly because we have not beat them once since I was called up to the big leagues 3 seasons ago. And its not because they keep beating us that gets me - I mean I don't think we've beaten the Outlaws either - its because they are totally beatable yet we just can't get it done. Rant over. Back to the prompt. I could see our most prominent player stepping up to inspire the team after this hard loss. Goat Tank (who probably scored 5 touchdowns in this losing effort) would look around and see everyone kind of milling about. He would step up on a bench bench and get everyone's attention. With a look of fire in his eyes, he says two words: "GOAT TANK". The team rallies around him raising their helmets and cheering. Anton Bruckner can be seen in the corner crying from inspiration. Bender, while cheering with everyone else because he wants to be seen as cool, thinks to himself, "Eh I've heard better motivational speeches. Not great, not terrible. 7.5/10" 239 words RE: (S30) PT 4 - Tough Loss - Accka - 08-09-2021 graphic https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/284020776640839691/874338455134539846/sad_LR_pt.png RE: (S30) PT 4 - Tough Loss - Big_Papi - 08-09-2021 Recently our team suffered a heart-wrenching loss to the Pythons. They were winning most of the game, until we made a great comeback towards the end. I ended up making a huge stop towards the end of the game that sent us to overtime. Once overtime began, our defense made a huge stop at the opponents own 1 yard line to give us a chance to win the game. We only needed one yard to score, however something went horribly wrong. We decided to try to kick it on first down and we our kicker somehow botched the easy kick. Unfortunately this had been a trend that had been brewing for a few weeks already, our kicker was on quite the cold streak that cost us against some really good opponents. After the loss we regrouped in the locker room and unfortunately started to blame the kicker for our recent misfortunes. It was difficult signaling one guy out like that, after all it is a team sport, but sometimes no matter how difficult it is to have those tough conversations, they must be had and people need to be held accountable when their poor play affects us for a few weeks in a row. I am happy to report that ever since that unpleasant discussion we had in the locker room, our kicker has been perfect on the field, making even the really far difficult field goals. I am both impressed and in awe with how well our kicker has performed in the face of adversity, and I honestly couldn’t be happier for him. It is going to be a great seeing him kick at the next level, he is both an awesome player and awesome friend and I feel blessed to have him on our team! |
