(S2) - Weekend PT #7 - Charity Fundraiser - iamslm22 - 08-26-2017 Being a Penn State Alumn Avon Blocksdale has obvious strong feelings for the school. One fond memory Blocksdale has is being a dancer in THON, and Blocksdale does all his charity work to raise money for the four diamonds fund. For those who do not THON is a 46 hour, no sitting, no sleeping "dance" marathon held at Penn State every year. It is the largest student run charity organization in the world and raises money for kids with cancer through the four diamonds fund. THON is an amazing experience and gets children from all across Pennsylvania to come and get support while they or a sibling are going though the worst experience in his or her life. THON has been around for 45 years and last year raised over ten million dollars for children with cancer. Blocksdale is currently raising money for the cause by using his newfound celebrity in Baltimore. Blocksdale has been making appearance as various different places, whether it is car dealerships, restaurants, bars or wherever will have him for an appearance fee. Blocksdale always takes the fee and donates it to the four diamonds fund for THON. In addition to making appearances, Blocksdale is known in the Hawks locker room for trying to convince his teammates to donate as well. 215 (S2) - Weekend PT #7 - Charity Fundraiser - sapp2013 - 08-26-2017 ![]() @manicmav36 @DollarAndADream (S2) - Weekend PT #7 - Charity Fundraiser - timeconsumer - 08-26-2017 Angus Winchester loves animals. On his Northern California Ranch where he spends his time in the offseason he has 12 dogs, 10 goats, 8 cats, a horse, a donkey, a coop full of chickens, and 2 pigs. He is known to volunteer for local animal shelters during the offseason and has made several large yet low-profile donations to charities that support animals. During the bye week this week he just finished a charity fundraiser supporting the Humane Society. Winchester's charity fundraiser was organized as a strongman competition for local lifters. He went to the gyms and recruited some of the biggest and strongest guys in Orange County he could find and arranged a competition of standard strongman events like Atlas Stones or tire flips combined with some normal powerlifting events like squats and deadlifts. Winchester and his agent were able to get several sponsors for the event that paid for advertising privileges, the proceeds of which were donated to the Humane Society, and also sold tickets to watch the event live for $10. Merchandise sales and a silent auction were also used to help generate funds. At the conclusion of the event a 29 year-old man named Travis Sanchez took home the first place trophy after a close race throughout the events. His incredible static strength in the squat and deadlift cemented his victory after a couple of second and third place finishes in the more endurance based events. After it was all over Winchester's event raised just over a quarter of a million dollars for the Humane Society of California. (S2) - Weekend PT #7 - Charity Fundraiser - Silver Fox - 08-26-2017 My cause is just: the ASPCA. Dogs are great, thus I like them; the ASPCA or any local shelter I happen across usually receives a donation. The fundraiser would be a black tie affair; rich people have the most money and I’m happy to leverage my newfound fame for the benefit of our furry companions (dogs, not Micah Hendrix). The event would be at a posh hotel, and open with the Liberty Four (Fox, Paul, Micah, Perry) singing the Liberty Fight song. Then I’d briefly speak about how great dogs are, because what other creature is basically condensed happiness shoved into a furry tail-wagging meat-sack, and then maybe roll a clip with sad music about how so many dogs aren’t yet adopted and the staggering costs of running the shelters. I’d then, preferably with a tear in my eye, relate how as a young child lost in the woods, I was saved and led back to civilization by a stray dog, who my family adopted and named Robot and eventually he died of lead poisoning because we lived in an old house with lead paint and he kept licking the walls, because he wasn’t the brightest, but that just makes dogs all the more special. At that point we’d go around taking pictures, signing autographs, and collecting juicy donation checks from all the people who already paid a significant amount just to be there in the first place. I’ll miss you Robot, you furry little moron. (S2) - Weekend PT #7 - Charity Fundraiser - ItsJustBarry - 08-26-2017 As many of you have probably already read in a recent article published last week, Trey Willie has become very active in his local community with one very particular organization. The organization is the young gentleman’s group of Greater Indianapolis. It’s an organization that focuses on teaching the young men in the community how to act professionally in their adult life. We recently learned that Trey was headlining a fundraising banquet with the purpose of raising additional funds for this charity as well as getting these young men in a room with other local community leaders. This maybe these young men’s first chance to sit down and speak one-on-one with a business professional. This fundraiser will be held in an upscale dining hall in downtown Indianapolis. The attire will be formal as these young men must prepare themselves to be presentable in the business atmosphere. These young men will be responsible for everything including shining their own shoes, tying their own ties, and folding their own pocket squares. They won’t enjoy a three-course meal were they can exhibit some of the skills they have learned from this program. While this organization is still in its infancy, they were able to provide this service to 14 young men and have over 30 businesses participating in tonight’s fundraiser. Why the young gentleman’s group’s founder is excited by this term out, he’s excited to see what support and participation is possible in the coming years with the publicity Trey Willie had been able to provide already. 253 words (S2) - Weekend PT #7 - Charity Fundraiser - cosbornballboy - 08-26-2017 Sandoval's largest work has come in working with children abandoned after their parents were deported. Sandoval's self-funded charity, Abandoned Angels, has done seemingly impossible amounts of work with abandoned children in the short time it's been active. When asked what moved him the most, Sandoval responded, "Seeing a little boy who was left in the same situation as I once was. Left alone, at the border, and told to go make myself a life at 6 years old. It's devastating, man, what this government is doing to children and calling it 'national security.' Disgusting, man." This is from a recent article written covering Ricardo Sandoval's charity work in San Jose. As a follow-up, let's look at Abandoned Angels recent work. They ran a 7 on 7 football tournament for abandoned children of deported Mexican immigrants. The kids had a great time, and the event raised over $100,000 for the charity. The kids said it was "the greatest day of their lives," and Sandoval even had a 1 on 1 Linemen tournament for the heavyset kids. The more work he does, the better of an idea it seems to become for the San Jose SaberCats to take him in the S3 draft. We shall see. (S2) - Weekend PT #7 - Charity Fundraiser - Bayley - 08-26-2017 Benson Bayley is running a fundraiser for Special Olympics. Since growing up with a cousin with disability, this has been a charity that has been extremely close to Benson. He wants to give back as much as he can. So, he will have a charity football game with some of his close friends in partnership with Special Olympics. There will be kids from these organizations combining with players in the NSFL and NFL that will come together to run this event. When looking at getting money from his contract as well, Benson will look to give back to the community that helped his cousin. When asked about this, Benson had this to say: "This area is not appreciated enough or funded enough. I want to do everything I can to make sure that these kids live a great life and do everything that other kids than. Man, if there is any amount of money that I could pay to do that, I absolutely would. There is no doubt that this charity means a lot to me, and I want to give back" This game will benefit that charity and will be something that Benson will look to give back throughout his NSFL career. The event is typically hosted at an expensive winery and features meet and greet packages for guests who buy the premium ticket packages. Players will be made available before the event to sign autographs and talk to the guests before the guests are instructed to head upstairs for the actual event. Once the charity presentation is finished the guests will be served their meals with the Yellowknife Wraiths players acting as their servers, taking their orders and delivering their meals. Guests can take pictures and interact while the players are serving them. At the end of the meal guests will have an opportunity to bid on a live auction for various items put up by the players such as autographed game worn jerseys or game packages. Players have even been known to come up with random auction items in the middle of the event such as dinner with the player and their family or an opportunity to join a player for a private workout and practice session. 200+ words. (S2) - Weekend PT #7 - Charity Fundraiser - TimPest - 08-27-2017 Tim pest is hosting a charity event to encourage and help farmers do good farming for the local people in Thailand. Most people in Thailand are very poor and some have some resources to do farming for survival but not enough to do more then just keep getting bye and then there are others that cant do even that on the level of most people in America. To help raise money for this purpose tim pest hosts a chess tournament every year that is taken all across the world. The event has the best chess players and they get together at all locations and stream the event. The event has a big time free of $200 to be a part of it and half the money goes to the winner of the tournament and half of the money goes to the farming communities of Thailand. The charity also gets lots of people who aren’t pro at chess that participate like people that like to play chess and famous people like tim pest. Once the event is narrowed down the people do streams over the internet of the finals of different locations. The final 4 chess people meet together in Thailand and play there to see the community they are helping. (S2) - Weekend PT #7 - Charity Fundraiser - PigSnout - 08-27-2017 I'm here to talk about the latest epidemic that is sweeping across the nation. A new disease called Tiebreakers is infecting athletes throughout many sports and leagues and has even impacted some of our own NSFL players. Medical experts say that athletes afflicted by Tiebreakers will see their season come to an end earlier than expected or desired. Experts have warned that in the NSFL, players are more susceptible to be impacted by this disease when playing for defensive oriented teams. Rumors around the NSFL say that the Yeti's locker room was recently overtaken by a bad case of Tiebreakers and that it may have been the cause for a premature ending to their season. However, if these rumors are true, this recent scare for Yeti players was an eye opening experience. Yeti running back Boss Tweed recently set up a charity event to raise awareness for the victims of Tiebreakers. Each guest at the event will make a donation of their choosing and bring along a tie of their choice. During the event, everybody will tear their tie to symbolize breaking a tie. This strange spectacle will be recorded and circulated around social media in order to spread word about the Tiebreakers disease. The donations will be donated to fund research about the Tiebreakers disease in order help prevent others from being inflicted by it in the future. The tragic ending to the Yeti's season could perhaps lead to good as it could help medical experts fight against the rise of this dreadful Tiebreakers disease. Quote:256 Words |
