Yeah.... for like a year and then they lose the player to F.A. Or the team could do a little more scouting/outreach and figure out who would be a long term fit and then draft those players.

Being serious, I think there's a pretty stark difference between privately indicating you'd prefer to play for a team and writing a piece saying you refuse to go

Yeah, what bothers me isn't refusing to play for ONE team, but refusing to play for ALL teams except the one you want. This has basically been my complaint with Season Two as well. If you will only play for one team, that team doesn't have to do anything to make sure they get you, which is not only unfair, but kind of boring.
Last season, the average user predicted about 75% of the draft picks over this. That's boring. I want to not know where people are going. I want the the draft picks to be exciting and surprising, not just a formality.
If I were to make a ruling on it...I'd say each player may publicly declare AGAINST playing for one team, but that's it. Anything else, they are ineligible and have to wait a year before playing.

I don't think there is much of a difference.
Strictly because many users aren't encouraged by the money contracts. Because of this, it screws with the power balance of teams that can stack High TPE/active players signing for cheap due to outside factors and this also doesn't negatively effect their cap space.
In the NFL, money dictates the majority of decisions. It's a job and they are trying to make the most. There are rare occasions that a player takes a pay cut and sticks with a team for non-monetary reasons.
However in the NSFL it seems like it's more likely a player decides to stick with a team for other reasons than the contract amount. This isn't right. If this was fixed it would probably result in better balanced teams and fix this preferential team holdouts.

Publicly or privately, the result is the same. If a team drafts them and they don't want to play for them. They lose value after 1 year in F.A. and then that preferred team will gain that value... creating imbalance.

I've made it pretty clear I don't want to play for [redacted]* but if I was drafted by them I would sign and just talk endless shit about them while a member of the team which would be amusing.

I do think, going forward, the DSFL will solve this problem.
