The Sabercats couldn't have taken Blewitt with their next pick because their next pick was Round 3 Pick 5 (21 overall).
Both teams reached for a player. One took a player they HAD to reach for, the other did not.
If you look at the 5 picks between the 2 Liberty picks, 3 were Outlaws. They're not replacing Bronko any time soon. Otters have Boss, best QB in the league (arguably with Orosz) and the Wraiths have the aforementioned Orosz. So, reaching for the QB was the foolish move there.
Blewitt would have been there with the Cats next pick, i really doubt any team that has a kicker in place already would take him, only way would be to move his position. Outlaws could have easily taken Rove(they did take strike with the 26th pick), and moved rove to a different position. They are the best team in the league because they get the most out of their players, and moving him would be an easy way to get more out of him. We dont know how it would have played out, but I guarantee that if Rove would jave gone people would be saying the liberty were dumb because they didnt take rove at 11.

You're saying Blewitt would have fallen all the way to Round 3. Even though the Otters needed a kicker, badly (and he's an upgrade to Sims. Just because Sims says he'll only play for OC doesn't mean we'd not take a better option). The Legion could pick him up at 18. San Jose didn't know if you guys would take him at 11. There's more need for Kicker between 5 and 21 than there were need for QB between 11 and 17. The only one saying you made the right choice is you. Look, if Rove turns out to be your guy, that's awesome. I hope he does. But taking him there was ill advised. You did it, you're proud of it. I don't even blame you for standing by it. But you at least have to see why we all think it's a reach. I'll openly admit Burnsman was a reach for the Otters since RB wasn't a pressing need, but I'll still stand by it because he's a great person and he's going to be a great player. We could have addressed DT by taking Chambers or OL with Archetype. But we took a bit of a reach on a guy we liked. Reaches happen, but don't expect them to be graded highly.

I mean....if you completely ignore the fact that he could change position. Rove is active which is more important than what position he plays. True he could have been available later, but the Otters or Outlaws could very well have had an agreement with him that if he was drafted he'd switch positions.
As for the TPE gap, when the updates roll around today Rove will already eclipse Christ so the talent is not even an argument.

Think about it this way - if we didn't get him, our season is pretty much ruined. Also, Rove already has 175 TPE - Christ is at 166. You do what you need to do to get your QB.
Who do you suggest we should've taken? I'm actually curious.

I still think this is a terrible name. But OL is never a bad choice, and A. Smarchy could be a huge steal at the end of the 2nd round. There's still a lot of talent out there at this point and grabbing him here was a solid bet. Outlaws had 5 picks in the first 2 rounds, and none were bad picks.

Taking a kicker in the first round kinda sucks but without a second round draft pick, and knowing he'd not fall to the 3rd, they had to reach. San Jose needed a kicker, and one who will be around for years. It's just a damned shame that the cats had to use their other 1st rounder on a kicker.
