I feel like since there is a literal cheer that spells it out as G, E, A, U, X. GEAUX TIGERS!
That's probably how it should be spelled.

Also, I can't stand mispellings just to change up a word to make it "kool". However, I feel like this is just a nod to the cajun french culture down here.
