Trying out for the Saints was crazy. I mean, it was one thing when I got the call from LSU, but this... oh man. I spoke to Gordon Gekko about it, and he wasn't exactly thrilled, but he understood I needed to go and pursue this. I grew up watching Brees slinging passes out to guys like Colston and Moore. Those were the guys I wanted to be when I was a kid. Now here I was, getting offered a tryout to play the role of stopping guys like them. It was kind of surreal.

I made my way back down to Louisiana, though. I did wonder why Coach Payton offered me the tryout if I'm honest. The Saints just drafted two defensive backs, and while I can see their secondary isn't great -- okay, that's understating it; they're arguably the worst in the NFL -- I was wondering why they would come for me now. I just signed a contract extension with the Hawks, and I have no idea how compensation would work across leagues.

Anyway, the tryout went pretty well. A couple of coverage drills against Ted Ginn and Michael Thomas, and I really saw just how good Brees is. Putting the ball in the right places, making it hard for me to make a play. The receivers too, the quickness, the strength, the body control... everything. But I held my own. I think ultimately, it wasn't enough to convince everyone, though. It was suggested I'd be on the practice squad, and as much as I dreamed of playing for the Saints as a kid, I never dreamed of being on a practice squad. Besides, why would I leave the Hawks when we're primed to make a run at the championship here? Especially if it would be to be a backup for one of the worst secondaries in pro football. Grandma always told me to never sell myself short. I sure as hell ain't gonna start now.

Before coming the the National Simulation Football League, Josh Garden was primed to be an NFL wide receiver. He came out of Baylor and not much was known about him besides rumblings of a drug problem and the national media coverage of his top level talent and big play ability. The draft process came and went and Josh Garden got a tryout with the St. Louis Rams. While still doing warm ups and stretching at his first tryout practice, Garden was taken aside by a league representative and was issued a mandatory league drug test. Garden immediately failed and was removed from practice followed by being suspended before even getting to take a practice rep. After that things took a turn for the worst for Garden as he failed more tests and was subsequently suspended from almsot every other major or minor football league in North America, including the Arena Football League, the Canadian Football League, and the World Football League. He even got himself suspended for life from the Mexican Football League before he found his way to the National Simulation Football League. Garden seems to have turned himself around from that first ever NFL tryout he had and has shown the mental capacity to overcome his past hurdles.

As the General Manager of the Detroit Lions we were quite excited to hear what Chess would say about a potential summer tryout witht he Lions franchise... He, had another idea. "Wait a god damn second? We exist in the same universe as the NFL? Since when. This whole time I thought the canon was that the NSFL was the major football league. Jesus Christ guys, I thought the NFL folded like ten years ago. What a fucking trip, man." -That is the very eye-opening response we received from C.A. Chess' agent when we contacted him about a potential tryout for the Detroit Lions. I suppose after years of heavy drug usage Chess must've forgotten about the existence of the NFL, which seems strange to me as I'm certain he's had to have seen a game on TV or something over the past few years. But, I guess this is probably for the best because the NFL is much harder on players who use drugs and at least Ballerstorm isn't a douche like that prick Goodell. I guess its safe to say we won't be running into Chess at our Allen Park training facilities any time soon, oh well at least Golladay from Northern Illinois looks like he may be the real deal at wideout.

All the team say they hear I am a good offensive line man and they want me of guys like me in the team. So they say I give you a lot of dollars if you come to the team and you do your work for us. First I go to the patriots and they are the best team and I do good at the practice so they ask me to be on team but I want to go see other teams and see how different each are from the other. Then I go to the cowboys because they are bigĀ  name and have more money then other teams but it still is not my team so I got to a new team and its seattle seahawks my favorite team and I go and they need me the most and say they have 150 million dollars for me I am going to do deal but then I think of my fun time in the nsfl and I say I cant do it sorry. Then I come back to my friends in Arizona outlaws where is my favorite team in the us style football world. I then know I am outlaws for ever.

The New York Jets are tanking this season, but before the draft they brought in top prospect Avon Blocksdale. Blocksdale was solid at Penn State, but always had more potential than he had shown in college. But when the workouts came Avon was impressive. He looked amazing in the drills, had a very impressive wonderlic score, and had tape that looked solid.

Owner Woody Johnson brought Avon in for an interview and that is where shit hit the fan. Woody asked Avon how he would feel about playing in the NFL and specifically for the Jets. Avon lost his mind. Avon went on a tirade against Woody Johnson. Avon said "Any man who donates to Donald Trump is a fucking bum. I'll play for the Jets because they're gonna pay me, but you gonna take an ambassadorship for that man? He's the devil and I cannot believe you supported him."

Woody was very surprised and almost stormed out, but decided to ask Avon about his thoughts on the NFL. Avon went on another tirade. "The NFL is incredibly hypocritical. I could beat my wife and y'all wouldn't have a problem with me. I could whip my kids and still get a job. But god forbid I smoke pot, or protest police brutality, y'all would suspend me or black ball me. Fuck the NFL."

News of Avons disastrous interview quickly broke out, and reporters asked Avon what happened. "I'm going to the NSFL," said Blocksdale. "They're gonna pay me not just to play, but for articles that I write and participating in fantasy football. Plus they legalized TPE there and everything. I'm gonna dominate in that league."

As everyone knows, Ricky Maddox was a tight end before a defensive end.

After playing three successful seasons as a Georgia Bulldog, he received the opportunity to tryout for his favorite NFL team: The Jacksonville Jaguars.

The story coming into the season around this time is how they will improve at the position after trading away Julius Thomas to the Miami Dolphins. They still had rights to Jaguars veteran Marcedes Lewis but he wasn't getting younger any time soon. They needed young blood at the position and it seemed like a perfect fit at the time. Unfortunately a huge collision with one of the linebackers sidelined him for a few weeks, the concussion protocol becoming an overwhelming task to overcome for the young Tight End.

Despite a stellar start to camp, impressing former Head Coach Gus Bradley in a multitude of assets that comes to the Tight End position (including special teams), it wasn't enough for the Jags to pull the trigger on Maddox and give him the shot to take his game to the preseason, where he would have the chance to compete for a spot for the 53 man roster.

After the tryout, Ricky expressed his gratitude towards the coaching staff of the Jacksonville Jaguars, blessed at the opportunity to be a part of his favorite team.

"It really was a journey. Before I left the Jags facility, I made it well known that they were making a huge mistake for letting me go. Haha But it's all good, I'm still going to keep an eye out for whoever they put in place at the TE position. Three years later, they still haven't found the answer. Overall, I'm happy to even have a shot to make it to the NFL, but when that fell through, I began maling my name in the NSFL. This is my home now and I wouldn't change a thing."

(S3) - Weekend PT #3 - NFL Aspirations - Oles - 09-22-2017

When Oles answered the phone, it was a voice he never expected to here. John Harbaugh was calling, and they were offering Oles a tryout to join the Ravens. This was a dream come true for the young CB, as he grew up watching the Ravens, and a chance to play with his now favorite player Eric Weddle would have been a like a dream. When Oles got to the tryout, it was anything but a dream. As Oles was running a 40 for their scouts the worst thing imaginable happened. The day he dreamed of for so long ended as soon as it began, a devastating non-contact injury that could have ended the career of Oles, before it ever had a chance to begin. If you would have told Oles he would tear his ACL, MCL, and PCL all while running, something he does every day, you would have been laughed out of sight. Oles never thought something that devastating could happen just by running, and to happen on a day that was supposed to be the greatest day of his life, it just seemed like a nightmare. Who knows where Oles would be now if this injury never happens, but after rehabbing it, and finding his place with the Liberty, it seems more like a blessing than a curse.

During his time at Rice University, a lot of his team mates wanted to join the NFL. Some actually did. Scouts from many NFL teams came to watch pro days and games. Several of them took interest in Marc Spector.

First team that approached Spector was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Secondary has been a pressing need for this team for quite some time. Marc made it clear that he had his eyes set on the NSFL, though. This was enough to send the Tampa scout elsewhere.

Once word got out that Marc wasn't really interested in the NFL, most scouts passed on Spector. Still, 2 more came his way. The New York Jets were looking for a local kid and a cornerback, and Spector being from New Rochelle fit that bill. Marc tried to tell them he was not interested in the NFL but they asked "What if we drafted you anyway?" Marc paused and replied "I would rather go work for my father in his mail room for 12 dollars an hour than to have any official association with your terrible franchise. If you draft me I will do everything in my power to make your team, ownership and coaches to look as bad as possible. Don't you dare crush my dreams like that."

The only NFL team Spector would consider playing for would be the Pittsburgh Steelers, but they never looked his way.
