Prior to his first NSFL season, Blackford Oakes spent his offseason doing what many young men after leaving college: absolutely nothing.

Well, that's not entirely true. During his time at Notre Dame, Oakes met a researcher named Dr. Hans Vogel Schifftheimer who is trying to revolutionize the way work outs, well, work. In agreeing to test drive the WorkMeOut 9000 Oakes spent the majority of his offseason lounging on his couch catching up on TV shows and playing video games while listening to short sentences repeated ad naseum. Oakes was concerned about how his speed would translate to the NSFL so he focused on the "Run. Fast. Good." program. His only real exercise was walking from the couch to the kitchen to grab a beer or a carton of goldfish.

Surely there's no way a person can actually get faster by laying down and listening to the same three words over and over but upon Oakes' arrival at Las Vegas Legion training camp there were many comments among observers that it was the fastest they'd ever seen the young safety. He is still early in his WorkMeOut 9000 training regiment but if the early signs are any indication, Oakes could play a long and successful career on the field while being a fat, lazy slob off it.

Kenny Omega in an unorthodox way was training for the DSFL through wrestling in New Japan, ROH and the PWG circuit. He was able to combine his speed training as well as his agility training through 20-30 minute matches during his tour for ROH before leaving the independents to focus on the combine. He was able to train with Gary Roberts and his friend and former Pro-boweller from the NFL LaDainian Tomlinson on adapting to big league play once again running scrimmages and plays that he would encounter in the DSFL and eventually the NSFL.

As in terms of Diet Kenny get off his Bulk Diet of Cracker Barrel, iHop and Sushi and onto a steady of Chicken, Fish, a Caesar Salad without bacon bits and fruits with meal plan constructed by Gary Roberts which has helped guys like Steven Stamkos of the Tampa Bay Lightning in the NHL strive for maximum success. Kenny likes his sleep gets about 8-10 hours of sleep and then training during the day and then some down time in the evening to play some Tekken and video game before going to sleep. The Combine went well as he was able to get just outside the top 10 in the DSFL Draft and is hoping to rise his NSFL Draft Stock as well.

Jimmy Cox spent his off-season grinding after a horrible ACL injury haulted his development but somehow allowed him to continue playing. He has already gained a massive 7 TPE in only 30 SECONDS which is a record for most amount of TPE gained in 30 seconds in NSFL history. While the Haters like @`Dermot` and @Bzerkap try to get him down, Jimmy Cox says nuh-uh to the haters. Nuh-uh indeed. That's why Jimmy Cox is the best in the business and anybody who tells him differently will be sacked 30 times a game until he learns his lesson. Jimmy Cox heard from his good friend @Gooney that he was now a member of the Las Vegas Legion, and while he knows that he will probably lose every game forever, it doesn't matter because he gets to play with the best people that the NSFL has to offer. While he has gained a massive amount of weight and is functionally obese, he will never stop grinding until his gears don't grind like they used to grind. You will be seeing Jimmy Cox DOMINATE the haters until the sun rises and then after that until the sun descends back into the womb of his mother, who is the mother of the sun, as well as the son, Jimmy Cox.

Mayran Jackson spent this past off-season donating his time to a charity that is near and dear to his hard. Jackson has been working with underprivileged youth who have lost one of their parents as a result of the military. It is a charity that has Aaron Rodgers on board as well and Jackson feels that as California men they have an obligation to help these kids as their lives were changed in some way from the military as well. Jackson takes kids on field trips to cool locations in the California area. This past off-season Jackson and his squad of leaders went to a rock museum with the kids and learnt all about the different types of rocks found at different levels in the earth's crust. One of the other field trips was a visit to some of the states political buildings to inspire the kids to speak up and have a voice when it comes to their future in politics. Another one of the field trips was sailing out on the Pacific Ocean which is something many of the kids had never done in their lives. Next off-season the squad has a goal to include even more kids and more leaders and go over state lines to Arizona and see some of the desert!

This offseason has been a tumultuous one for William Ridley. Being traded just after draft day to the Yellowknife Wraiths distrusted Ridley’s offseason workouts. Ridley’s attention soon turned to finding accomodation, meeting with the Wraiths head office, and settling in to Yellowknife. As we inch closer to training camp Ridley has got into the swing of Yellowknife and has established a program with the Yellowknife strength and conditioning team to improve his power. Knowing last season he could improve his takedown time on opposition players, Ridley has made it a priority to be able to take players to the ground faster than in his rookie season.

Ridley has also spent a significant amount of time getting to know his Wraiths teammates. He had made no secret of his desires to be a leader in the locker room and on the field, and this first step is getting to know his new teammates and seeing where he fits in with the team. Ridley is very excited to start offseason activies with the Wraiths, get padded up in training camp and voluntary minicamps, and various other activities held by his teammates, and can’t wait to hit someone when preseason begins in earnest in a few weeks.

Charlie did a lot to prepare this offseason. The first was to watch tape of all of his plays and take extensive notes on what he did right and what he could improve on. He also sent a few ideas to several of his offensive teammates based on things he'd noticed. He watched extensive tape of opposing linebackers, corners, and safeties. He even took time to watch tape on one of his own corners and linebackers, all things considered.

When he wasn't watching tape, he was doing cardio. Despite all the work he'd put in to get ready for the NSFL, he still didn't feel fast enough and he still didn't feel like he was as good as wanted to be late in games. In addition to that came the rigorous receiving tree obstacle course he'd had built in his new Phoenix home. It was modeled off the ones they used at Combines, except he'd added extra obstacles, made the defensive structures and placement tougher, and even had a few accessories built that could mimic conditions of snow, wind, rain, and mud.

The last thing he did in the off season was to make sure he took part of a day every week to go out and about in the area he now called home for most of the year. Whether it was going out on the town at night, speaking at various groups and organizations, or just hanging out with his family, Charlie Law was a fixture in Phoenix. People posted photos of him, videos he helped with, phone messages he recorded, and much more.

In what is likely not surprising given his changing of positions, Avon Blocksdale spent the entire off season working on becoming the best quarterback he could be. Despite being division rivals Blocksdale and Wraiths QB Matt Akselsen (@Bzerkap) worked out together after they both decided to switch positions to prolong their career. The workouts with the two of them were fascinating to watch and it was very interesting to see them become drastically different quarterbacks. They each had a very particular style. Blocksdale became a much more traditional quarterback. He was a pocket passer through and through with excellent accuracy and intelligence, but not all that much movement in the pocket. Akselsen on the other hand looks like the NSFL version of prime Michael Vick. I mean the dude can move. Akselsen doesn't quite have the accuracy that Blocksdale has, but his speed and agility are far superior to Blocksdale that many are saying he's going to be the best QB in the ASFC. With two second year players in the division (Rove and Pierno), it appears that Blocksdale and Akselsen will have the inside track at pro bowl spots in the QB position. They are good friends, and the offseason was good to them, but once they get on the field expect both to do their best to destroy the other one's team.

After training his speed for the last few offseasons, Boss Tweed focused on becoming more well rounded this offseason. His primary areas of focus were on improving his hands, endurance, and agility. After making big impact on the ground last season, Tweed is looking to become a greater receiving threat this year to expand his impact and give young quarterback Nicholas Pierno a reliable target to throw to as the Yeti have on of the league's weaker receiving groups. Tweed spent many days with a JUGS machine working on catching balls over and over again and he has refined his catching motion so he should be a more consistent receiving threat next season with less drops. He also worked with various trainers on different obstacle courses to improve his agility and make his cuts more fluid. Defenders are going to have a harder time tackling Tweed next year as he has become much more evasive than he was last season. Finally, while training in those activities, he gave himself as little rest as possible. He trained all day, every day during the off season with few breaks in between. While this philosophy may sound torturous, it had a purpose. Tweed built up his endurance by working so hard so that he will be able to deal with the heavy workload he is expecting this season. Tweed's speed training over the last two offseasons led to major improvements in his performance, we will see if his more all around focus to training this year will lead to similar results.

Marc spent his offseason in Tasmania, searching for a set of ruins that was off-handedly mentioned by Aboriginal researcher and explorer, Rhys Jones. He was able to find them and documented the entire process for the National Discovery Channel in an exclusive television event. In a very uncharacteristic and public setting, Marc was able to explore the depths of the ruins, discovering multiple Aboriginal relics and tomes. He displayed his intelligence and deciphered all the tomes and explained what each relic was used for. Most of them were tools or documents of history. At one point in his expedition he turned off the camera to "take a rest" and his cameramen claimed he did not rest at all but disappeared for about 45 minutes and returned with some glowing stone that he never showcased in the NDC Special. How did this help prepare him for the NSFL? Well, intelligence is a key part of being a solid defender and sharpening his intelligence and increasing his hands, by handling rare artifacts, he should be able to increase his interceptions. What? That makes no sense? Maybe not to you... but it makes perfect sense to him. What is that stone? Nothing. Stop asking stupid questions.
