(S5) - Weekend PT #5 = Turkey Day - run_CMC - 11-25-2017 This past Thursday was the first Thanksgiving Dean Jackson has spent away from his home and family. He’d been home just two weeks earlier, and even with his big rookie contract, he couldn’t justify another trip so soon at the crazy ticket prices of the holiday season. So naturally, Jackson decided to stay home and stuff his face with food while watching Netflix movies. He’s never been a big fan of turkey, so instead he enjoyed a large thanksgiving ham. Alongside it, a huge array of side dishes: loaded mashed potatoes (his favorite), corn, cornbread, green bean casserole, macaroni and cheese, cranberry sauce, and broccoli. At this point, Dean collapsed on his sofa because like many Americans on this day, he forgot portion control. When he finally awoke, he gave his fish a thanksgiving treat in the form of cucumber slices before lying down in bed for some much needed sleep. As a defensive tackle, Kamaka has to keep up on his eating and what better way to do that then on a holiday focused on eating lots of great food! This year, Kamaka stayed on the mainland and celebrated Thanksgiving by going over to Micah Hendrix’s (@HalfEatenOnionBagel) house for some good old fashioned Thanksgiving Turkey with all the fixings. As you can imagine, both players are no slouches when it comes to eating and they definitely had their fill of turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, green beans and all the pumpkin pie they could eat. After dinner, Kamaka and the Hendrix family sat around to digest dinner and played some NSFL 2018 on Hendrix’s big screen and then everyone went outside to throw the football around and enjoy the crisp November evening. Kamaka definitely missed his family, but hanging with the Hendrix’s was a great way to spend Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving was this Thursday - Write about how your player celebrated Turkey Day, what all did he have to eat or maybe who he was with. On Thankgiving day Arizona Outlaws wide receiver Josh Garden was doing the same thing he always does on Thanksgiving Day. He was sitting on the couch watching the NFL, studying other receivers while enjoying back to back to back games on the holiday. First, Josh Garden watched the Minnesota Vikings face off against the Detroit Lions. He remembered watching Lions legendary wide receiver Calvin Johnson every year on this day but now he was gone and there were different faces to see. He watched Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs on the Vikings. Paying close attention to the nuances of Diggs route running and Thielen's ability to adjust his route mid break. He watched Golden Tate do amazing things after the catch and Marvin Jones Jr. go up for jump balls. Next he got to watch Keenan Allen and Tyrell Williams for the Chargers go up against Dez Bryant and Cole Beasley for the Cowboys. He compared the way Allen runs his routes to what he had already seen earlier from Diggs, and watched Tyrell Williams use his big body and athletic ability to make plays on the ball. When Dallas was on offense he saw Dez Bryant use his size and physicality while watching Cole Beasley read linebackers and safeties during option routes and underneath work. By the time the Giants and Redskins faced off, Garden was asleep on the couch, full of turkey. 200+ words (S5) - Weekend PT #5 = Turkey Day - JuOSu - 11-25-2017 Thanksgiving is a holiday for the family. You go home and spend time with family. There is way too much food, you turn on the NFL and talk about politics. Julian, as well as his two siblings from the NSFL, all went home to their parents. They spent the morning helping in the kitchen and preparing the food. Julian is a big fan of the turkey and the potatoes. Watching the NFL is always fun too, especially now that the O'Sullivans all play in the NSFL, the rival league. Seeing the players perform there, it makes you wonder if Julian could play in the NFL one day too. Once everyone has eaten, everyone feels way too full and wants to just relax and maybe take a nap. But around that time is when the political discussions start. Mostly the O'Sullivans are liberal but there are still always topics of discussion around. After that, everyone either naps or leaves again. For Julian, he still watched the NFL in the living room with his siblings and relaxed on the couch. A bit of a nap is always nice on a day off. Soon he would be back in the Orange County to prepare for his next few games to push for the playoffs. It was nice to be home. Happy thanksgiving. It turns out you can do pretty well when you're the only professional athlete in the family. The family decided it was time for a change after Tweed rushed for 500 yards and 5 touchdowns after a few drives. It seemed that the only fair conclusion was to make Tweed play at quarterback instead of running back. However, he decided to play as a mobile quarterback and still ran most plays so it did not make much of a difference in balancing the score. Instead, they restarted the game with Tweed at quarterback and forced him to pass every play. This made the game a lot more close and competitive. Tweed's team went on to win 35-28 on the final drive of the game. Everybody had a fun time and then afterwards they went in for dessert. Tweed's mother had made an extra large pumpkin pie just for the occasion. Everybody enjoyed the pie and talked about the key plays from the big football game. This was just one part of what was overall a great Thanksgiving for Boss Tweed. After a nice break, Tweed is ready to get back to the field to try to help the Yeti win some more games. Quote:214 Words (S5) - Weekend PT #5 = Turkey Day - bagwell - 11-25-2017 Norman Bagwell spent Thanksgiving with his friends and family in Buffalo this year. He missed out on the NSFL draft and so he wasn’t able to be drafted because of his injury. He got injured while playing his senior year in Alabama this season and has been recovering from a torn ACL. This was the first biggest injury Bagwell had so he needed a lot of time to recover. Bagwell spent time with his friends and family for a big Thanksgiving meal. All of his 7 brothers were in town and so they had a great time catching up and eating turkey prepared by their mom. They had a lot of turkey, potatoes, mac and cheese, and gravy of course. After eating, Bagwell and his brothers drank some whiskey and hung out while watching some professional football on ESPN. He’s super excited for the next season and is hoping to play in the NSFL soon. (S5) - Weekend PT #5 = Turkey Day - HalfEatenOnionBagel - 11-25-2017 What better way to spend Thanksgiving then at home stuffing your face with delicious food and just enjoying some quality time with good friends and family? This year Micah Hendrix and his wife Tori hosted Thanksgiving at their home in Philadelphia. Tons of family came in for the holiday including Micah's parents, his grandmother and his siblings and their families. They also had a special guest come over for Thanksgiving this year: Micah's teammate and great friend Eli Kamaka! (@PDXBaller). The food was amazing, and as usual, there was so much of it, too. I'm talking beans, greens, potatoes, tomatoes, lamb, rams, pork maw, chicken, turkeys, you name it. Between all the food and drink and some backyard football, everybody was ready to crash, just play some video games and watch the NFL games. It truly was a wonderful Thanksgiving and as always reminded everyone of the people in their lives that they were truly thankful for. Sturgill, Clifford, and Reginald all sat around the table together and discussed their various career paths. Sturgill of course, is a pitcher in the newly formed PBE for the New York Voyagers. Clifford, the man we all know and love, is the quarterback for the Philadelphia Liberty, in his second year. As is the custom, instead of watching the football games on television, the whole family all participated in a touch football tournament, with Clifford and Sturgill in charge of the two finalists. You may expect that Clifford’s team won, but it was actually Sturgill’s team that took the chip this year. Sturgill actually had a chance to play college football, but chose to play baseball instead. As always, it was a successful Rove Thanksgiving, so successful in fact, that many think they may ask them to film a reality Television show about it. (S5) - Weekend PT #5 = Turkey Day - JKortesi81 - 11-26-2017 For Thanksgiving, Carlito Crush was delighted as his mother and father surprised him in Portland for a visit during the holiday. Carlito invited his fellow Python rookies over, and while they all turned him down to celebrate with their own families, just having his mother and father there was enough. His mother made the traditional turkey with a lot of fixings. Sausage stuffing, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, corn, and enough gravy to fill a swimming pool. But that’s not all! Mama Crush is dessert expert, and her talents were on full display! She made an apple pie with Pillsbury cinnamon rolls as the crust. We had a cherry pie as well! She also made an oreo pie, which was a BIG hit. But best of all, she made a “Tres Leches”, which is a Dominican three-milk cake. It really made Carlito feel like he was at home. He’s missed his mother’s cooking. While that sounds like a lot of food, the Crush men are monsters, and cleared most of the table. It was a great Turkey Day for Carlito. (180) |
