RNG it. Everyone gets a random value between 5 and 20, with it weighted around 10. That's when regression hits. No one knows except HO making it a surprise for all.

would add to aspect of realism, just saying.

Different regressions per position would be more realistic, but it would also require longer positions to start with lower stats and/or gain TPE slower. If we're really aiming for realism, though, speed/agility should regress faster than other attributes. Positions that don't rely on speed/agility like Oline, Dline, QB, or K tend to last longer in the NFL because players slow down as they age. Granted, some QBs rely on speed, but they either retire earlier or change their style as they age.

Thee random regression can have very bad side effects of someone's techies baking career gets derailed early. That's how you lose actual frustrated players

If anything I think if we were to change regression to be positional I would do the opposite of trying to make it similar to actual football careers. When positions like quarterback are the most scarce and the hardest to break into for new guys we should actually make them regress earlier than positions that have more room for starters. If we have quarterbacks or kickers or whatever who have 15 season careers that sucks for people who really want to play that.

But I'm honestly for everyone regressing the same, and relatively aggressively too. I see no reason for any career to last longer than 10 seasons.

Because people want to break records held by NFL players.
