The San Jose Sabercat Darren Smallwood has come to a striking conclusion. He is cursed. Throughout his tenure as a member of two teams, Smallwood has been nothing short of a decent player on a team doomed for failure. Before the Wraiths jettisoned him the team got two wins. Upon getting Cook, their fates turned around and they had one the strongest runs allowing them to get the tiebreaker over the Yeti. Despite the fact that Smallwood was traded to the Sabercats with the view towards the future, the curse followed him The team is on the cusp of their second season above .500 and it will continue the trend of having a better record than seventy five percent of the National Simulation Football Conference and still failing to break the mold that is Arizona Outlaws and Orange County Otters. If we jump to the other sim leagues, the Providence Crabs are struggling too. There’s no doubt about the one common thread, the agent tlk742. There’s no hope for the running back who may or may not break the rushing TD record beyond personal glory and the team that he has called home may be smarter to jettison the cursed individual than hope for success.

This season was a lot of fun playing for the Portland Pythons. I have to be honest, I did not expect my player and my team to be this damn good. Starting from the year, we drafted a lot of great draftees and steals everywhere and people were questionable about the picks this team has made. And they finish 1st in the DSFL to take the crown once again just like last season.

For my player, I have been in battles with Arbin Asipi on who is the best QB and by the end of the season, the winner is obviously me. But look at the stats. 80.8 rating, 9 interceptions which is pretty low looking at others interceptions, 14 touchdowns, 60.5 pass percentage, 2810 yards thrown, and 270/446 in passing which is lit. So great year and great season for Austin Roenick and it was better than I thought it would be. It was a lot of fun like I said.

Asipi is obviously the superior qb

With some up and downs this season Andreas Waiters had a debatably the best season from a defensive end this season posting up: 42 Tackles (Tied for 1st DE) 9 TFL (Tied for 6th DE) 7 Sacks (1st for DE) along with a forced and recovered fumble. This was all possible due to the support of his teammates and consistent help from his GM. But, the most important part of the season for Waiters was his debut. All the confidence in the world was given to him for the season when he posted this message and then proceeded to back it up with 10 Tck 3 TFL and 2 Sacks. His feistiness carried through the rest of the season giving him a argument for DROY. If you haven't already, go peep a couple minutes of his play. He has improved significantly from his last year in the DSFL and looks like a threat from this Arizona team chasing the playoffs.

One of the marking event of the season for the Last Vegas Legion and Wallace Stone was his switch from Quarterback to Linebacker. In his first season in the National Simulation Football League as a Linebacker, Wallace Stone made a strong impression in the league. Despite being on one of the worst, if not THE worst, team of the league, he managed to finish as one of the best defensive player in the American Simulation Football Conference. He managed to finish the season with one hundred and thirteen tackles. On all his attempt at tackles, he only missed eight of them during the whole season. He had three interceptions during the seasons and scored one touchdown. He performed three tackles for loss (TFL). Wallace Stone sacked at least seven times in the season the quarterbacks of the other team. He had one forced fumble (FF) during the fourteen games of the season. Another good statistic for Wallace Stone is his eight passes deflection (PD). Overall, his stats are not the best in all category during this season, but for an athlete with his current ceiling, it’s an exploit to be that high in the standing.

You might think that sitting out and not training would be a surefire way to lose your job in professional sports but sometimes a manager will see something in a player. Marcus Kane had not been seen much in the weight room the past few seasons but the Yellowknife Wraiths saw fit to keep him on the roster and even give him a starting role most nights. Kane has put up decent numbers over the course of his career thus far but nothing spectacular.

One fateful night the Wraiths general manager finally broke through to Kane and got him to start working out with the other players on the team. The results have not been as noticeable as you might think but Marcus was only 6 sacks back from the league lead before last nights games and if he continues to work out and hone his body we could see him challenge for the title next season.

It's hard to pin down one pivotal moment for the Otters as they make their way to their 5th playoff berth this season. If I had to choose one pivotal moment that helped to define, or redefine, this season it would be the discovery that Jordan Yates can run some crisp routes. The first 3 or so games of the season the Otters were off to a mediocre start, tied with the Sabercats and Outlaws for the division lead. And with a big game coming up for week 4 they needed something big to help get back to championship form. That big thing came in the form of the $15m man, Jordan Yates.

The Otters decided to line him up out wide in 3 WR sets and see what he could do, already known for his elite speed and above average hands how bad could it be? Well it turned out to be electric. With Phelps moving into the slot to show off his possession skills having Yates and Westfield as deep threats on the outside suddenly opened up the field and Mike Boss started throwing strikes. The yards after the catch in Orange County were second to none this season, and Jordan Yates was the spark that ignited that inferno. He will most likely end up finishing the season with the most all-purpose touchdowns and be very close to the highest in scrimmage yards, and should be a lock for the pro-bowl.

Season 5 has been a fantastic season, and without a doubt his best to date, for Alexandre LeClair and it all began in the off-season when he requested to be traded from the Legion. The Baltimore Hawks jumped onto the occasion and gave LeClair plenty of space as well as opportunities for him to make an impact. With a season that shattered all his personal benchmarks, LeClair solidifies himself as an impact player in the NSFL.

Without a doubt, the trade will be the most eventful thing that happened this season for him. Going from a bottom feeder team to a playoffs contender has given LeClair newfound motivation to improve himself. The funniest part that people might not know is that LeClair had a player option in the past off-season and had completely forgotten about it.

Looking back at how much he’s accomplished, I would say that there has been absolutely no regrets in changing scenery and the motivation renewal that came with it has definitely helped him improve during the season.

When you go 2-12, is there really one point that “breaks” a season? My first foray into the NSFL was nothing short of abysmal. The Yeti had some serious growing pains, and I knew that going in when the took me #1 overall. I had a goal of 4 wins for the team, and we fell short. Granted, we had some really nice shots at some upsets. I guess the biggest “break” we had was the “almost win” against Orange County. Week 2 against OCO was exciting. We were down 20-7 and then the game just changed. We got with in 20-17 and we had the ball with two minutes to go thanks to an interception that left us at first and 10 from the OCO 38 yard line. Then, we had three straight drops to get us to 4th and 10. Instead of attempting a game tying FG, the sim decided we should rush the ball. We gained one yard and turned it over on downs. We ALMOST recovered a fumble three plays later, but we didn’t. We got the ball back, had a 25 yard gain, and the clock inexplicably ran out and we didn’t use our timeouts at all. That was my first introduction to the bullshit that is the sim we use too. We had a few close ones along the way this season, but we could only beat the even more terrible than us Legion. The season was almost broken from the beginning. But we definitely grew closer as a team inside that locker room. (260)

The season making point for the Arizona Outlaws had to have been when we beat the San Jose Sabercats 30-22 AWAY. This was huge because before this there were questions on whether or not we would be able to make playoffs, after the multi scandal that saw us lose many important members of our team. And many said that the Sabercats would be better than us, and able to make playoffs for the first time in their organizations history. But it didnt happen. We were able to go to their stadium early in the season, and make ourselves known. The big play that changed everything was Allen Davis, our starting safety at the time, going out on offense and catching a touchdown from King Bronko that put us ahead by 8 points. Before that point we were only up by 1, and it seemed like the Sabercats would stop us and score. But then we got that TD, and its like the life was sucked out of them.
