We don't necessarily target players. We draft best player available most of the time. At this spot three of the four decision makers had Enchant as the highest guy on the board, one had Ruckus as the highest with Enchant just behind him. So while we all think Gore was a great talent and that YKW made a great pick here, yes he would have fallen to #9. I know that's not what you want to hear, but honestly it doesn't matter that much. Y'all had a good draft and like your players, and OCO had the same.

Interesting. I actually like hearing that, oddly enough. We gambled wrong, but it's nice not to wonder. Regardless, #7-10 was a great set of guys. This was such a stacked draft. McPoyal has been absolutely fantastic since the moment he stepped into our LR. And I know Elvin will be in good hands with you guys.

I haven't had a chance to thank you for your efforts either! Really appreciated the work you put in to help inform us and also promote your players. Maybe it will start to become a regular thing for DSFL GMs to do before draft night.

Also great writeup as always @SwagSloth

Very nice

Tbh I was kinda surprised myself to see the trade made to draft me but I'm gonna do what I can to make it a win for us regardless of how it looks now

Absolutely, PDX is setting the bar. And much thanks!

Tremendous article.

I may completely steal the idea though.

KCK actually did a GM draft breakdown for the DSFL a few seasons back, which was where I got the idea. I didn't reveal as much as he did, but it was an interesting draft for us and I thought giving some insight to the picks would make for a good read.

I'd be curious to see it from another angle, though, so I definitely encourage you to do that.

One of my favorite articles to write.

I'm a GM in the SMJHL, and after every draft I write a similar piece about the draft process that I went through. The draft scouting, my personal rankings, trade talks that did (and didn't) come to fruition, and then I go through my picks and how i felt during the draft too. (Did we get sniped? Did we gamble and get our guy?)

It's always a big crowd pleaser for the "peek behind the curtain" article, and this is no different. Good work.
