*Minimum Contracts: What to do? - Beaver - 03-08-2018 I like this but let's not change anything until I hit 800 TPE and sign a 10 year $4m/yr contract, ok? We wouldn't want to be too hasty. *Minimum Contracts: What to do? - 7hawk77 - 03-08-2018 This is a great idea. I've basically signed the minimum contract ever since I've joined and it's because I want my team to be as competitive as possible. Money doesn't really matter to me. If I needed more money, writing 600 words a week isn't challenging for me, and I know that my team will be more competitive for it. Also, at the time my team was doing fairly poorly compared to the rest of the league. I think if we implement this, it will fix the salaries for the elite players. This could have the effect of dispersing elite talent among different teams since no one team could budget for all of them and create better team parity among the league. Great suggestion! *Minimum Contracts: What to do? - 37thchamber - 03-08-2018 (03-08-2018, 11:29 PM)timeconsumer Wrote:Maybe if we made it so that only contract money could be used to skip PTs we'd be onto something. However that makes the bankers have to track separate monies which is a whole other animal.I don't understand this. This is what was said when I suggested something like this before, but it doesn't hold up. We already track media money separately (for example), we already track what money is spent on. So as far as I'm concerned, there wouldn't need to be much change made to the formulas, and there wouldn't be much extra work (if any really) for bankers. *Minimum Contracts: What to do? - timeconsumer - 03-08-2018 (03-08-2018, 08:23 PM)37thchamber Wrote:I don't understand this. No. But it does lead to confusion. Can they spend contract money on either training and also on skipping PTs? But they can't spend media money on skipping PTs? Do they specificy which account training or equipment comes out of at the time or purchase? Or do we always default to taking it out of the media account? Rather by making them two different currencies (my token idea) and having one currency tied to what your contract is you don't end up with two separate accounts where one is used for everything and one for everything except one thing. Instead they are used for exclusively different things. *Minimum Contracts: What to do? - nunccoepi - 03-08-2018 (03-08-2018, 05:29 PM)timeconsumer Wrote:To be fair I also get paid a significantly higher amount of money than your average player because of my simmer's salary. I like this, especially if we combine it with OP's suggestion. That would increase the desire for contract money while also forcing teams to pay more for better players. *Minimum Contracts: What to do? - CDub2 - 03-08-2018 I do like the proposed system. I just think a lot could be solved if people just demanded the money they deserve. Just because you have a full bank account from your league job doesn't mean you should take a 500k contract. It gives your team an unfair advantage in cap space and there's not really much realism in it. It just throws the whole cap system out the window when we start paying people what they want/need and not what they deserve. A starting QB should earn more than pretty much everyone on offense, not the league minimum because he's already rich, you know? Let's get selfish. *Minimum Contracts: What to do? - dropbear - 03-08-2018 I'm all for this :fan: *Minimum Contracts: What to do? - nunccoepi - 03-08-2018 (03-08-2018, 10:13 PM)CDub2 Wrote:I do like the proposed system. Just throwing it out there *Minimum Contracts: What to do? - AdamS - 03-08-2018 I think this is more on the right track then previous attempts have been. I'd sltil like to see more was we can inventivise players going to bad teams with have lots of cap space, but this is possibly a good step. *Minimum Contracts: What to do? - timeconsumer - 03-08-2018 (03-08-2018, 11:13 PM)CDub2 Wrote:I do like the proposed system. The Otters have at least 4 players in their front office who handle scouting, strategy, and all sorts of other tasks that other teams would only have a GM do. These might be considered normal players because they aren't technically GMs, but they are by all accounts heavily invested in their team. Which is more in their best interest, charging more money for a contract to earn more TPE or taking a cheap contract to help the team that they put time and effort into managing find success? The lines are blurred in situations like this and to them being selfish is actually putting their team first, because they are already dedicating free time to make the team better, why not make your job easier and give your team more cap? |
