(S8) - PT 5 - Rebuild - AW13 - 06-19-2018 While I do not know much of the state of the league, I do know that any team can live or die by the starting quarterback. There are a few teams carrying quarterbacks that are back from season 1 and 2 and need a rebuild of the quarterback position. With a few capable quarterbacks entering the league, most notably, South Dakota superstar turned Portland QB Joliet L. Christ looks to help a team avoid a full rebuild by continuing the success at the quarterback position for one of these teams. The Arizona Outlaws and QB King Bronko. This QB from season 1 is starting to hit the twilight in his career and appears to be running out of time in the desert. Bronko a WR turned QB is a quick QB but is considered more of a Gunslinger than a true Mobile QB threat. Will Arizona risk changing up the offense a bit by adding the young Christ in hopes for continued success at the position? The Philadelphia Liberty are losing their QB Oles to retirement after many years in the league. One of the higher TPE QBs, this young gunslinger have been a stable arm at the QB position for the Liberty. Again, will the Liberty look to go with a more traditional passer or take a shot at Christ? The Orange County Otters are also in a position to add a QB of the future and rebuild the position. Their current QB Mike BOss is a highly established passer but he started in the NSFL from the beginning in season one. Boss, a pocket passer, is completely different than the incoming Christ and they may elect to stick with a traditional pocket passer at the position if they don't want to change their offense too much. There are a few other teams that could use a rebuild at the QB position soon. Yellowknife with Akselsen, would be a solid spot as they already roll with a mobile QB. Baltimore as well with Blocksdale, a QB that came in in season 2 who will be falling off soon. WIth many QB positions established from the beginning, there will be many openings and many chances to rebuild the position. Most of these options will require a rebuilding of the offense a bit bringing Joliet L. Christ in. Which teams will stand pat with strategy and which teams will take a chance at the young mobile QB out of South Dakota? (S8) - PT 5 - Rebuild - iamslm22 - 06-19-2018 The NSFL is certainly in a very interesting position. The Philadelphia Liberty, defending champs, just did a full on fire sale. They traded away talent at basically every position, and their quarterback, Tyler Oles, announced that he is retiring at the end of the season. Because of that, it leaves open possibilities for other teams. The Yellowknife Wraiths are in prime position to take advantage and look favored to win the NSFC. The Baltimore Hawks are in a down year, but don't look like they are ready to rebuild. The Colorado Yeti are coming off a rebuild and look ready to bounce into play off contention sooner rather than later. The Arizona Outlaws and San Jose Sabercats are in the middle of rebuilds, and are both having rebuilding years, however San Jose has their QB of the future while Arizona needs to look for one. They'll have a good amount of picks in S9 and in S10 and with numerous QBs they'll certainly have a shot. It'll definitely be interesting to see where they go. The Orange County Otters are more reloading than rebuilding, picking up young players while still remaining in contention. In addition to that the New Orelans Second Line looks done with its rebuild, and looks to capitalize on adding top notch players that are in their prime, like Paul DiMirio and Benson Bayley. 227 (S8) - PT 5 - Rebuild - White Cornerback - 06-19-2018 Do you remember the last time Yellowknife tried to rebuild? They got to an Ultimus final again, but again they failed to win it. Such is the prophecy foretold by current, past and future GM Spike Crown and his band of merry misfits. Really we're in what S8 right now. While the Liberty have went the easier (harder/) route dependent on their trades to stockpile for the future after securing their first ever championship title. It's up in arms to see what exactly Yellowknife do. They have an aging QB in Akselsen, an aging WR core in Cook & Kennedy, an aging secondary containing Lavelle, Hardrool and the soon to be retired Carter. An aging LB and DL core containing Hendrix, Tuck, Maddox and Tweed. To be honest with you the entire team is a graveyard or another way to describe it would be to call it a boulevard of broken dreams. Regardless it looks like in the next 2/3 seasons whenever Yellowknife stop competing and by the time they have hopefully won the big game, they will have to commit to the rebuild sooner rather than later. Plus with the upcoming drafts said to be recreate heavy, Yellowknife could possibly snag a future franchise player if they're quick on the trigger. (S8) - PT 5 - Rebuild - Alfredo_Pasta - 06-19-2018 I'm here today writing about the trade deadline and how the some teams may or may not need to rebuild. Now I think what they did in Philadelphia was kind of smart. Majority of the league is getting old and is going to have to retire here soon. So they're getting ahead of the ball. The wriaths are all getting old. Same with orange county. Pretty soon it'll be the yeti and the second line on the top. With any luck Philadelphia will be able to complete just in time while the Wraiths are rebuilding and the same thing with the otters. Now who is going to start next? Well let's take a look at the Wraiths. They're doing a really good thing. Taking in new guys and then having their old guys fill in different holes and then keep drafting to fill in the old guys. They might not see a rebuild process at all. We will see here in a few season if this smart planning will pay off or not. Other teams like otters are trying to build for right now. Example acquiring wozy, an older guy, rather than getting a young guy and developing him. We shall see how it works out. Word count: 206 (S8) - PT 5 - Rebuild - PigSnout - 06-19-2018 The Yeti went through a long rebuild process but seem to be coming out of it now. After Season 2, the Yeti saw quarterback Logan Noble suspended along with some other players requesting trades and they started a full scale fire sale as they realized they were not in position to contend in a very tough NSFC. They decided to build up some future assets to build a younger team that would be ready to contend within a few years. They hit some road bumps as the Season 4 draft ended up being the weakest in NSFL history and some of the picks they traded for in that draft were unusable and they started to build around quarterback Nick Pierno who never really worked out at the NSFL level as he stopped training just around the point that he was starting to turn a corner. The rebuild ended up taking longer than expected as they had to build instead around a new quarterback by drafting Ryan Applehort and they traded some older players like Boss Tweed for players who would be able to help during their contention window. But over the course of those rough seasons, the Yeti have gotten some high draft picks and have added a lot of young talent to the roster. The Yeti are starting to show a lot of promise now as they are still in the playoff race this year entering the final weeks of the season and they are in a win now mode trading for some more experienced players to help push them over the edge to contention. It's been a long rebuild, but the Yeti now have a roster with a lot of talented young players after building through the draft for a while and they look poised to be top contenders in a couple years as these players develop. Quote:309 Words (S8) - PT 5 - Rebuild - daBenchwarmer - 06-19-2018 Numerous teams around the NSFL now have to be looking for their quarterbacks of the future, particularly the Yellowknife Wraiths and the Orange County Otters, both of which have some of the most veteran quarterbacks in the league with Matt Akelsen and Mike Boss respectively. While neither teams should commit to a full on rebuild due to this, both of these teams are expected to make significant moves at the quarterback position just so they have a back-up plan for when their current starters begin to regress and slow down. A solid back-up plan, typically a young quarterback who is able to step in seamlessly into the NSFL, is the key recipe for the ability to consistently compete for the Ultimus Trophy. So what should these teams do then? The obvious answer is to start rebuilding at the quarterback position by acquiring some of the younger talents available in the NSFL and DSFL, either via trading, drafting or signing these youthful talents. Some of these talents are available in the upcoming S9 NSFL Entry Draft, with the mobile Andreas Metaxas and the pocket passer Gus TT. Showbiz both options for either the Otters or the Wraiths. Either way, whatever these teams may choose, the demand to rebuild right now at the QB position isn't too pressing, but it should be something they should keep their eyes on. (S8) - PT 5 - Rebuild - GoonerBear - 06-19-2018 With apologies to the team I will name names for, the San Jose SaberCats need to start their rebuild now if they have not already. With only a handful of active players, some of whom are more recently created, they are behind the curve as their competition improves at more positions by the week. The SaberCats need to take stock, get what they can without trading away their actively improving players and try to convert that to activity. Most of this will likely come through the draft, especially with some good bets on having a season to filter out the one-season wonders in the DSFL. This may involve trading away more valuable inactive players, though the curve will catch up to them if they try sitting on them. An active core is key to contention, and if you don't have it now, you need to get one and you need to make sure you get a net gain in activity instead of just exchanging one-for-one or dumping your current active core elsewhere and gamble on a wholesale rebuild through the draft. It is a bit depressing seeing a team like them with good guys in it who could win if they had more. It's a bit disheartening they had to trade away Benson Bayley to put some stock into the future. Hopefully, they will not need to ship out anyone else currently active with the team to reach that end goal. (241) (S8) - PT 5 - Rebuild - Leafs4ever - 06-20-2018 Without knowing a whole lot about the state of the NSFL teams, I'm going to venture out there and say the Baltimore Hawks need to think about a rebuild of some kind. Right now, they've seen a division rival in Philadelphia tear it down almost to the bones and yet they're still ahead of the Hawks in the standings. There's still some games left, but right now Baltimore is sitting dead last in their division. Their main players are all getting older, including their star quarterback and running back. They are still effective players, but unfortunately the rest of the team isn't really helping them out. By the time the rest of the team catches up, Blocksdale and Taylor will be shells of their former selves. As harsh as it may seem, the Hawks should look to sell some pieces and get some draft capital. With those picks, they need to get their future franchise quarterback and their future franchise running back. You just can't win without those two positions being your best. With the trade deadline passing this season, Baltimore will need to make their moves in the off-season and get ready to draft their new stars. There a couple of big name prospects at both positions in this upcoming NSFL draft, including quarterback Kevin Fitzpatrick and running back Marquise Brown. If Baltimore can nab something from this draft, those players will grow with the rest of their young roster and hopefully fight for contention in the next 2 or 3 seasons. (253 words) (S8) - PT 5 - Rebuild - BWIII - 06-20-2018 it's pretty obvious to basically anyone knowledgeable about the NSFL and even those that aren't that the Philadelphia Liberty are in a massive need of a rebuild and have taken huge steps in the right direction in doing so. Not only will Philadelphia be in a rebuild on their roster though, but they have gone through a rebuild in management as well as both their general manager and co-general manager both stepped down. Before stepping away form the team though, both did make a fair number of deals to help bring in a handful of draft picks that will help aide the new management team in their rebuilding efforts. So now with new management let's look at what the Liberty actually have to work with. After all the trades they were able to make at the deadline they now have something like 9 additional picks in the first 4 rounds of the next two drafts. I know that's a lot of numbers to take in and getting that deep into drafts doesn't sound like a great idea, but really when you look at the amount of talent that is coming through the DSFL right now and the potential that will be coming through, I think this actually sets them up really well, as long as they're able to scout well and pick the right people. We all know that picking the wrong people can set back any team, especially one that is starting a massive rebuild, so they will definitely need to do a lot o leg work in the scouting as soon as possible. (S8) - PT 5 - Rebuild - Beaver - 06-20-2018 Ah yes there's only one rebuild in the history of the NSFL that really matters and that would be the one that was incited by the dastardly Connor Tanner who forced ~TOTALLY ACTIVE AND CONTRIBUTING MEMBERS OF THE LEAGUE~ into retiring against their will which is totally a dick move you know but it gave Las Vegas a ton of expiring assets that in the skilled, capable, supple, and smooth hands of Bovo - hands that have never known manual labor and whose very touch can send shockwaves through your body - were able to be turned into an incredible core of active and awesome players that are now the very best team in the NSFL ever since they got rid of the anchor whose name was something like Broxlon Jayton or something silly like that which was the move that really freed them up to reach their full potential and also sucking up San Jose and Philadelphia like Kirby and acquiring their powers didn't hurt either and now the Second Line are ready to spank the Otters and seize home field advantage in the playoffs which would be really great and when we win the Ultimus back to back to back to back this season and the next 3 seasons the Connor Tanner Rebuild will be heralded as the way forward for any team that wants to go from doormat to dynasty.
