Danny Grithead's favorite pet growing up was a huge rock that he found in his yard when he was just 5 years old. While other kids around his neighborhood got to have dogs at home as companions, Grithead's father was a strict disciplinarian who prevented Grithead from developing compassionate feelings for other living things, human or animal. As such, Grithead was forced to create his own emotional attachments to nonliving things like rocks or pebbles in his yard. This one rock, shaped very similar to a football, naturally became his favorite rock of them all. It reminded him of the very thing he loved most, a football, and most importantly it was a rock solid and gritty, indestructible form of a football! Grithead carried this big rock along with him everyday in his backpack to the farm fields, as he did not attend school. He always tucked it tightly and carefully under his arm, making sure that the rock was secure in his hands. Grithead attributes his great carrying ability to his many moments taking care of the valuable rock.

Let me tell you about a very special snake from the New Orleans Second Line locker room. Poopy face tomato nose joined the second line a long time ago and was a huge part of turning the team from a perennial loser to the power house it is today.
We shared many laughs and office memes etc. together as a team.
But this snake had aspirations. Aspirations of leading a team as our lord and saviour bovo did. And when the opening for a job as gm at the Orange County Otters opened up he left his friends and joined the rival team in California.
When this betrayal happened the nola locker room was understandably hurt, regardless we knew this was best for poopy and we recognised why he had to leave. Even though we wished him the best we still had a special role for the snek.
For a long long time anything that PFTN said in the nola discord he would have 5-8 :snake: reacts to each and every one of his messages. We did it because we loved him but also because he had joined the baddies and we had to show him the consequences of his actions.
It was often compared to when you like a girl in primary school and don't know how to show it so you're mean to her bc you can't express yourself.
Even though the snek reacts have stopped for the time being, the scars of poopy's betrayal to NOLA are still there. One day he will return to his best frens in the second line and all will be right in the world again.

There is one team pet that everyone in New Orleans knows and tolerates. His name is Snekface Mctootface, or Snek for short. He goes by @speculadora in the forums, and he is a known snek. There is nothing wrong with being a known snek, and he gets fed all the rats and all the other goodies whenever someone on New Orleans remembers to feed him. He is my favorite pet because he is always there, just a simple tag away. He keeps the conversation going and is always someone you can just talk to and don’t expect a good response from. Good ol’ snek in the New Orleans Locker Room. Without him, who knows what would have happened for New Orleans this season, and the season before they may not have made the playoffs. He has become a mascot of sorts for the New Orleans crew and they have decided to keep him around for as long as he lives. I love Him.

My most favorite pet that I've ever had was named Bear. I had him growing up from the time I was born until I was about 12, so I had him basically my whole life. As you could probably guess having the name Bear, he was most likely a bigger dog, which he was, he was a big black Newfoundland and was just the best pupper. I remember long summer days where He would lay in the grass under the shade of this big cherry blossom tree and I would lay in the grass with him and use his body as my pillow. He was the most gentle and caring dog too and always wanted to make you feel better. Unfortunately with it being my first pet, I also got to watch him age. I got to see the effects of his hip dysplasia where he couldn't even lift his leg to pee. I was fortunate to not see him when he died though. I was later told that my dad found him dead on the porch and somehow picked up that massive 150+ pound pup and burried him on the property. Easily the saddest day of my life.

While all the cool kids had cats and dogs, Adriana grew up with no animals because she and her mother were allergic. When she was 8, her dad tried to be nice and got her a pet gerbil, whom she named Romolo. Romolo lived a good, prosperous life, beloved by his owner. He was a pretty boring pet, not gonna lie, spending all his time eating, sleeping and chilling in his cage. When anyone tried to get him out of the cage, the little dude would try to run for freedom or whatever gerbils dream of. Romolo only lived two years, as is often the case with gerbils. His morbid obesity probably didn't help his health either but as mentioned before, he was a spoiled little creature. He was given a proper funeral and buried next to Adriana's grandfather in the Cimitero della Misericordia, in her hometown of Siena. Adriana was a bit traumatized by his passing so she never got another pet after his death.

One of Eli Kamaka’s favorite pets growing up was a pet turtle named Kahuna. He was a box turtle with dark grey and yellow spots and small pink eyes that seemed to protrude out of his head like he was always stunned by the world. Kahuna and Eli were inseparable from the time Eli was age 7. Kahuna lived outside in a large 50 gallon tote, but Eli would take him around the house and play with him while taking regular beach trips. Kahuna loved to swim and hang out in his tote, but was very found of a kiddie pool that Eli got Kahuna for his 15th birthday. That turtle loved to swim in the kidde pool and would soak in it for the entire day basically. His favorite foods were broccoli, lettuce, and eggs! Kahuna would eat eggs for days if you let him. To this day, Eli still takes care of Kahuna and has a regular pet sitter for when he’s on the road.

One of Boss Tweed's favorite pets was George, a pet goldfish he had growing up. He won George one day at the carnival by winning a game where he had to bounce a ping pong ball into a fish bowl. While a goldfish doesn't involve as much interaction as other pets, it was still a fun one to have. Tweed got to build a home for his new pet by buying a tank for him and putting some gravel at the bottom and picking out some props to add some character to it. This was the first time that Tweed really had a pet where he got to take care of it on his own. He would feed George a couple times each day and would clean out his tank every other week. It was pretty simple caring for his fish, but it was a fun experience for Tweed to have a pet that he could call his own and could get to care for and take care off.

I don’t have too much experience with pets. With a family who spent half their time in one country and half their time in another, adding pets into the mix would have been more of a hassle and probably not terribly fair to the animal in question. I didn’t grow up coming home from school to a li’l doggo excitedly jumping in my lap or a cat summarily ignoring me. I didn’t even have a fish to balefully blink at me from its glass prison. Nope, my upbringing was as pet free as it was girlfriend free.

Even today, I travel too much to have a pet. Sure, I could hire someone to take care of one for me, but what would be the point? I would barely see it, and its primary caretaker would be the person I hired. That’s who it would bond with and be raised by. Nah, instead I consider all the world’s creatures my pets. I love them, I stand up for their rights, and I don’t eat them. I’d say I’m a pretty good pet caretaker.

LeClair grew up with his family owning a few cats with many more living in various houses around the neighbourhood so it’s no surprise he has a major affinity towards the feline balls of fur. His favourite among the lot is a white-black tuxedo cat named Boots. As he describes his favourite cat:

“Boots was always special among the cats in the neighbourhood. His fur coat always has a shine to it, which is a sign of being a happy kitty. He knows he’s beautiful and acts like it, walking around the gardens like he owns the place. This has led to more than a few meowing contests between a few of the residents. However, Boots never came back home with any injuries. He’s a tough cat without having to fight it and undoubtedly the king of the area. But inside he’s a lot more like a big kitten, always looking for attention and someone to play with. Very sociable cats are the best!”
