Where my HO at? - kckolbe - 08-10-2018

It's easy to make fun of Jiggly, kick him when he's down, etc...but I'm kinda with him on this. He's been doing the job (even if unofficial, there's no denying he did it) and applied for the actual position. To be honest, I think even asking him to apply was a class-less move. The job should be his unless someone convinces HO he or she can do it better.

The fact that he had to apply and then was shot down but couldn't even be told he was shot down until he had to bring it here is a problem.

@Jiggly_333 Maybe you should just apply for HO.

Please no. I already ruined a team, I don't need to ruin a league.

not sure i understand the logic there. We gave jiggly part time work, not a full time position. not sure how asking someone to apply for an official position they dont have is classless, but you are entitled to your own opinion.

Also, he didnt have to bring it in here, my PMs were wide open, and if memory serves right he only asked once in general chat since this whole thing happened, while our selection process was still not decided so i couldnt give him an answer. Hell, our selection process STILL isnt decided, so Jiggly's application is still in. But yknow, its whatever

Calling it part time work may be accurate, but also misleading. He's done a fair few of them, after all, not like he was some one-time substitute. I would say he had the position in an interim capacity at the minimum.

So he applied for a job he was already doing, and the applications were later closed, and he asked about it already in chat and presumably was not answered. I think he did more than enough on his end.

Also, you say now it is still possible, but earlier they were overwhelmingly negative. So I assume HO doesn't want him and no one else volunteered?

Interim isnt official though.

Applications were closed before he even asked i believe, since it was HENDRIX who posted them and he's been gone a while. He applied for a job he was no longer doing, asked about it in chat when the decision was not final, i asked then in HO and, like i said, there was a mostly negative reception to the idea. I didnt tell him then because it was not an official "we voted and jiggly wont be hired", it was a preliminary feel out because we need more than just one slot to be filled to make an awards committee full. I will be the first to say that HO has dragged their toes for too long on this issue, me included, but still, i would always appreciate a PM on the matter before someone decides to thunderdome us, i could have told them all this privately if he did.

And it is still possible, nothing official has happened yet. I also said that after he helped out with DSFL awards, that some HO started warming up to the idea of having him on board. Thats the main reason I havent said anything to Jiggly, because his application is still in. If we had chosen someone, I would have told him, but we havent, so i didnt. Others have volunteered, but again, its all only been on a volunteer/interim basis, like sapp and like jiggly before him.

For what it's worth @Jiggly_333, I appreciate the time and effort you put into your awards shows.

With that said, I couldn't bear to join in them. This forum is not the right medium for painfully eking out the awards over several hours, having to refresh the page and dig through endless gifs just to see who won. It takes the focus off the winners, which is the antithesis of what an awards show should be.

I wanted to say this because I think there are people who are too kind to say so. And that doesn't mean I intended this as an insult; I just wanted to say that I didn't personally enjoy the format, though I'm sure there are some who did.

Trust me, that's why we don't do on-forum PBPs anymore. In fact, I am in favor of a switch to a podcast version. My problem is more that as someone who's done it so many times in the past, I feel like I should be a bit more involved in the creative process for making it better.

Don't worry, I think this application is much more impressive, especially since you specified it was podcast based.

Yeah there definitely needs to be a live version, similar to our drafts. I don't see any reason why you couldn't be involved if it was a group effort, the way there are analysts (usually GMs coz it's relevant) on the drafts.
