(S23) - PT2 - Draft Day - Jiggly_333 - 06-28-2020

This last draft was probably the first time since S1 where I genuinely had no clue what was going on. Back in S1, I don't think anyone knew where they were getting drafted and I ended up in Orange County in a middle round because I panic PM'd grapehead about wanting to be drafted. It's fitting that this is also a running back. But since that first season I've either been a GM while being drafted or read through the powerpoint beforehand because I was an announcer. So this was different.

Probably the best part about the situation is that when I was creating Mai and putting together everything for my return, I was talking a lot with TB. We planned out our players and shit and while we didn't make it explicit to the rest of the league, we kinda hoped that we'd end up at the same team so we can fully infiltrate with our weeb shit. And then we got drafted by a team with a weeb as a GM. Some nice solidarity there.

I think that Fukushuu herself... Actually I don't know. There's a lot I don't know yet about this character. It's a work in progress, but a fun one. But she's probably happy about being on the Pacific coast. She feels connected to these waters.

My NSFL draft was pretty interesting. There was a whole lot of things going on at that time that really make it interesting to look back on. First of all, the draft class was absolutely massive. Over 200 players. This meant that even among the top of the class there was a lot of variability because chances are there was at least one other player who was similar to you. Some players did stand out though. Like Colt Mendoza. Steg was the surefire #1 pick, and also helped push the offensive line into the spotlight. This was a big class which also meant quite a few offensive linemen. Prior to this, some teams valued them, some didn't. Steg's articles running thousands of tests though showed how much value human offensive tackles could bring. These articles started building some hype all season before the draft, so teams had lots of time to start looking towards offensive linemen higher. This was especially important to me, as I am an offensive lineman. I had also written an article prior to the draft where I asked GMs where they would draft me if I was every position. In that, I did include OL (though I didn't make those results public in the article, I did for every other position). This meant I had a bit of knowledge that one GM would draft me in the 3rd round as an OL - I also knew from scouting which teams were more interested in me. I felt the middle of the 3rd round could be the spot, especially when Austin traded up. Three picks there from Austin, Colorado, and Baltimore I thought were strong possibilities for me. I did end up going to Baltimore. As it turns out, when responding to my questionnaire for the article, Baltimore wasn't even the team that said they'd take me in the 3rd round. I still don't know who did.

(S23) - PT2 - Draft Day - Kyle - 06-28-2020

I'm going to be talking about the greatesr draft there ever was or ever will be. This draft had over 39 players total and about 2 dozen actives. Truly unprecedented numbers the likes of which we will most likely never see again except for ever season until the end of sim leagues. May that day never come. What truly made this draft special was the players selected first and fourth overall in the draft. Thats right. Kyle Idlewyld and Randy Vuxta. The two most beloved players in the entire league without argument. The first of the two dominates in the trenches and has finished top 2 in his positional awards voting every year of his career and is leading defensive line in tackles so far in the current year. The second is the super star stud wide receiver (and also new GM) of the Philadelphia Liberty. He hasn't won anything or even got any votes for awards but hey, we love him anyway. Wide receivers also tend to take longer to reach peak performance than Lineman and theres still an optimistic bright future for the quick man at the edge. There were also plenty of great players but everyone and their mama knows that they don't come close to matching up with Idlewyld and Vuxta.

The S20 NSFL draft was one of the highest points of my career which is pretty sad considering it was almost five seasons ago. I was highlighted as a fringe first round pick, with a few mocks showing my name was not going to be called until the second night. Regardless of where I went, I knew I had to be there during that night to hang out with some of my fellow Tijuana brothers to see them selected. Kyle Idlewyld and Inspectah Deck where both first round talent guys, with Kyle being seen as a top three pick for a team to build around. For me, he had first overall written all over him to Austin, a team that desperately needed a pass rush. Because of this I was one of the few to not be surprised when his name was the first called of the evening. I got to shake his hand as he went onto the stage to grab his hat and shake the commissioner's hand. I sat back in my chair, knowing full well where I was going. I had spoken to my agent and it was basically a formality at this point as to where I would end up. I kept repeating the message I had gotten, "No lower then four." I had spoken to the GM of the Liberty and we both fell in love with each other. As picks 2 and 3 were called, I knew I was next and got ready to stand up. However, the clock continued to run. I would later find out a ton of teams were looking to trade up to the pick to select me as a part of their team, and I wonder how my life would have been different. Then, with five seconds left, the words flashed "PHI: THE PICK IS IN." The feeling of joy that overcame me as I climbed the stairs to receive my Philly jersey and join the other first round picks in the back room. Idlewyld's big grin when I walked through was the second best feeling of the night, right after holding my blue Philly jersey. If a redraft was to be conducted, I definitely believe I would have been taken a bit higher, maybe 2 but definitely gone at 3. Overall, the draft has made me hold myself to a higher expectation. Going at 4th the team invested in me and I do believe it has paid off as I am a GM for the liberty as we try to fight for our first playoff appearance since I have joined the team.

Simeon Works was on edge for the S22 draft. He didn't have the best showing in the DSFL stat-wise but he definitely showed a competitive edge and relentless pursuit for glory. He started draft morning by having his favorite breakfast - steak and eggs with hot sauce. Then he got a light workout in and headed over to the practice facility at his alma mater, the University of Alabama. He then got ready with his flashiest suit and bling and headed down to the draft arena. He met his family and girlfriend and took his seat. He waited round after round and didn't hear his name called. Many defensive ends went off the board before Simeon but he kept his head up. His fellow Royals teammate, Ryeu, was selected pretty high. Many other Royals went high in the draft as well. Simeon just tried to stay positive and his friends and family kept supporting him with words of encouragement. Finally, in the 7th round, the Chicago Butchers traded up to select Simeon Works with the 9th pick of the round. Simeon was just happy to have a shot and put in a bunch of work for his rookie season. He went on to set a franchise record for tackles for loss in season with 17.
