(S23) - PT3 - Dream Team - Baron1898 - 07-05-2020 If I’m put in charge of an expansion team, the first thing I’d do would be to get a new co-GM and then give them all the power because I suck at GMing. But branding? That’s a whole new ball game. As much as I’d love to give Boston an NSFL team, I’m also in favor of the idea of giving more “weird” locations teams like Honolulu or Yellowknife. So my actual proposal would literally be to bring football back to San Antonio. It doesn’t have to be the Marshals because that would be a bit weird in the NSFL, but San Antonio deserves its team back, and in my mind the military branding makes a lot of sense given San Antonio’s history as both a center of the Texas Revolution (specifically the Alamo) and its importance to the military post-WW2. Thus, I think that the San Antonio Revolutionaries or the Texians, the latter being the name of the fighters of the Republic of Texas during its conflict with Mexico, would be fitting names. Additionally, the team could incorporate the dark blue, red, and white of the Republic flag for the team colors; surprisingly, this color combination has yet to be used in the NSFL, since the Liberty use a lighter blue and tan scheme. In my mind, this would be a perfect way to incorporate the history of the city and bring San Antonio back in a respectful manner. (S23) - PT3 - Dream Team - indonesianhusker - 07-05-2020 My expansion franchise will be located in a place I hold dearly in my heart, Nebraska. The team will be located in Omaha, the biggest city in the state and also host the College World Series, so they are used to hosting travelling away fans. The team will be named the Omaha Cattlemen, named after the farmers and ranchers spread across the state, providing the United States and world with quality beef. The team will of course be sponsored by Omaha Beef. So why Nebraska? People might be turned off by the small population but there’s more to that than just the people in the state. Everyone knows how rabid and hardcore Nebraskans are for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, selling out every game for 370 games in a row. Imagine the support for a professional football team, the team will get an instant hardcore fanbase. Additionally, the team can also attract fans in the Midwest market, especially from Minnesota and Kansas City, where previously the closest NSFL teams to them are in Chicago and Colorado. The Omaha Cattlemen will also have a natural rivalry with the Colorado Yeti, as there is already a long history of rivalry between the two states’ college football teams. There is definitely a lack of Midwestern teams in the NSFL right now, where many people live and breathe football and spend their weekends from Friday to Sunday watching and celebrating football. That is why the Omaha Cattlemen would be the perfect franchise for the expansion. (S23) - PT3 - Dream Team - ADwyer87 - 07-05-2020 OK so obviously we already gt our precious Honolulu Hahalua, so instead of talking about that I will give some other ideas I have for teams. One is my out there city desire. Going to Europe doesnt make sense outside of London, most places that are out of the country that would make sense are just Canada and Mexico, no other places make sense. Except for maybe one place, and that is Australia! One place I would love to see a team is in Sydney. I know its basic but its a pretty awesome spot I think. If we really want to go somewhere else, the one other place we could maybe go outside continental North America is an island team. I think we could go with a Havana or San Juan team, since my idea of the St. Kitts and Nevis Brown Pelicans probably wont go through After that, all I have as an idea is a northwestern team. When you look at our distribution, we have a fair amount of middle america teams, some northeast area teams, and a shit ton of southwest teams. If we want to diversify, adding a Vancouver team I think would be great and create an instant rival to Yellowknife (S23) - PT3 - Dream Team - supertardis101 - 07-06-2020 PBE PT (S23) - PT3 - Dream Team - Mysa - 07-06-2020 In general, the NSFL has opened its borders to an extremely wide-ranging variety of cities. Generally speaking, save for maybe parts of the Midwest (where the NSFL has Kansas City and Minnesota), most major geographic regions are covered. As a result, either a midwestern team or far north-east team would be the most sensible location for a new team – especially because its best representation currently appears to be Philadelphia. A New York, Boston, Buffalo, or Pittsburgh team would make the most sense to include, although the third of these options would not reach a large audience. I also cannot, in good conscience, include Pittsburgh as a lifelong Baltimore Ravens fan, so that one’s out too. Generally, I don’t care for New York sports, so for me the choice really ends up being Boston, which makes for a nice foil for the Butchers, Liberty, and Hawks. I’d prefer to stay away from imagery in the NFL – and the Patriots are a bit too on-the-nose as an American sports team. And I would want a team that straddles the line between the brutality of the Butchers and the classical American iconography of the Liberty – indeed, a picture of Lady Justice meting out punishment to other teams is intriguing, but again too on-the-nose for the United States (and probably too controversial for my tastes). Maybe something like the Boston Pioneers would be a little more palatable? |
