Joseph Petrongolo had the privilege to be drafted three times, once in the DSFL, once as a rookie in the ISFL, and once in an expansion draft, as the Berlin Fire Salamanders' first pick in the draft second overall. When I first learned that Arizona didn't protect me when the league expanded, I was honestly shocked. I was pretty sure that I'd be taken in the draft, but I didn't think I'd be taken so early, at second overall. Although this draft wasn't nearly as exciting as m first two drafts, when I was still a rookie in the league, it is the one that has shaped my career the most. I was sad to leave the team that drafted me, and mostly leave Saba, my first friend in the league. But then I joined the Fire Salamanders locker room and I felt at home. I joined the war room, and now this season we look to be pretty good through the first quarter of the regular season. The funny part is, Arizona is also supposed to be pretty good this season, and it's very possible that they are our opponent in the Ultimus game if we make it there. Hopefully we can continue the string of good luck this season and channel it into a deep playoff push.

If Dante King is anything, it's confident. Since he was little, he's always been convinced that he's the best there is - maybe it's arrogance, maybe it's a defense mechanism since he's so small, or maybe it's just plain true - and the leadup to the DSFL draft was no different. After a successful pair of games at the end of last season with the Norfolk Seawolves as a waiver addition, Dante felt like his stock was sky high. "Look, I know who I am and what I can bring to a team. I've had some great conversations with general managers, and now all I can do is hope they recognize that too." The countdown started for the first overall pick: Norfolk selects running back Jay Cue Jr. Dante's heart sank. He and Cue had both gotten experience with Norfolk, but it seemed that only one would make the cut to rejoin the team next season. Oh well, at least he'll be able to provide some value to another team picking in the first round. But as the picks ticked away, including another running back Rejoignez LOrdreSombre, Dante's nerves turned into frustration and eventually into anger. He knew some teams might be turned off by his plans to debut in the ISFL as soon as possible, but he's still too talented to fall this far. When his name was finally called with the first pick in the second round - Norfolk's second selection - Dante breathed a sigh of relief. If he couldn't be a top pick, at least he gets to stay in his current location, with teammates he's already grown to love and a scheme he's familiar with. Now, there's just one mission - prove to all the teams that passed on him that they made a mistake they'll never live down.

What seems like a long long time ago was the S22 NSFL draft. Man I am getting old, so old I’ve lived in two generations of this simulation league lol. I was so excited after what felt like an eternity of a dsfl career. I thought about all the possibilities and different color variations I would get to see my virtual dot in. I was not the greatest earner in the early parts of my career but definitely turned it up near the draft. As a result I did not expect to be taken anywhere near the top picks. And especially if you consider how stacked the defensive tackle class was at the time. Players like Phat Boi and Cuco Clemente were beasts and it was obvious teams were licking their chops waiting to draft them in the 1st. That didn’t scare me though, if anything it made me more excited. Some of the teams I wanted to go to included Orange County, Philadelphia, and another team that I can’t remember. When the draft stream started up I was not paying too much attention. Then all of a sudden I heard Big Edd get called at pick 22. Man was I shocked. Getting taking in the 2nd round of an isfl draft is cool but 2nd round in a Reddit class is even more impressive. The otters took me as the 3rd highest DT.

I was picked in the first round by Yellowknife and I couldn't be happier! The team is consistently good which is only a bonus, the team operates like a family which I appreciate so much. They are a helpful team and if I have any questions they answer them and provide me with some of the best advice I've received. I feel extremely lucky to of gone from Portland to Yellowknife as I believe both are similar environments and both have players and management I love interacting with. Everyone is driven to win but are also very chill and laid back. I expected in this draft to fall a tad bit lower than where I ended up as I didn't know if CB was a position of need for any of the top teams or not. Also looking at the mock drafts I was hardly on anyone's radar so I didn't expect to go in round one like I did. When I was selected so high I was as excited as I could be for this league! Now that I reached the ISFL I realize that I am super lucky to of gone where I did and I wouldn't change a thing if I could.

I love the draft. It's a magical experience, and shoutout to the entire team who makes it happen, especially the graphics. I was part of S28 and I was ultimately drafted #7 overall to the San Jose Sabercats. Within the Tijuana locker room, we were chatting about where I could potentially go. I was pretty vocal about being called up immediately, so my guess was that I either go to SJS/COL in the 1st round, mayyybe SAR, but otherwise BAL/AUS if I were to somehow fall to the 2nd round. I guessed SJS because they had just lost my TIJ teammate Rich Triplet, so only had 4 DBs on the roster. As a new user, when you're getting scouted, you talk to more than a dozen people and the conversations are generally samey, asking very similar questions about your player goals and so on, and with no easy way to keep track of the conversations because I have the habit of closing my DMs, I couldn't really gauge how I come off to people. I was just hoping that they had read a bit of my media and stuff and understood who they are drafting.
Really though, the draft is great. With everyone in the various Discord servers congratulating you when you get drafted, it really does emulate getting drafted in the NFL, albeit on a really small scale of course, but the feeling is there. I heard all 1st round picks get a Dotts card at some point, so my only draft goal was to go first round, "and I'm here man! It means every-fucking-thing to me! Fine me later, man! This mean everything to me!" My only sadness is not being able to experience the draft for the next 10 seasons or so at least, or maybe even longer, and my next recreate will likely not be a max earner, so the draft won't be as magical not going so high, either, but I'm glad to have experienced the draft the way I did in both the DSFL and ISFL as a brand new user.
