(S23) - PT1 - With a Little Help From My Friends - thevoicelesscreator - 06-21-2020 This year, for Mo Mamba and that Colorado Yeti, its all about running it back. Coach would always tell us to run it back to the line. This year, there’s a more metaphoric approach to it. We’re looking to run it back alright. All the way back to the Ultimus to get that back-to-back win to forever enshrine this team as a dynasty. But it won’t be easy. The Yellowknife Wraiths have made significant additions to the team in the offseason and will continue to be a serious threat to the Yeti. The dreaded Baltimore Hawks are also up and coming yet, which Chika coming into her sophomore season with a big chip on her shoulder. Philadelphia is also looking primed to do very well this season. The journey there will not be easy. But if anyone has the team to do it, it’s the Yeti. The defense continues to get better and better, and really look like potentially the best in the NSFL. They’ve made some serious addition to their offense through DSFL call ups, and Lim looks primed for a breakout season. Wolfie McDummy is also looking just as sharp as he did last year, and will continue to defy father time for another season. Mark my words, the Yeti have what it takes to go all the way yet again. (S23) - PT1 - With a Little Help From My Friends - Naosu - 06-21-2020 I don’t quite feel qualified to talk about how a football roster looks, but I’ll give an attempt. After being drafted to Sarasota, I took a look at the roster to try and get an understanding of the position the team is in. I thought we might be in a tough spot with no true QB, but Dexter Banks swapped to that from WR. That filled our biggest need and now we look to be in a good spot with rostered players. I think players are effective for a shorter period of time here than SHL or PBE, so our team’s ages might be slightly out of synch, but overall we have a large core from S22+23. As the older players fall off those spots can be filled with current send downs, free agents, or upcoming draftees. I don’t think we’re contenders in our current state but we have the chance to be in a couple seasons if the players stick around and we’re managed well. For this season I would hope for an improvement on last season. The biggest thing would be obtaining a positive win record, and finishing ahead of the Liberty. Accomplishing that should put Sarasota back in the playoffs but we would likely play either Colorado or Yellowknife in the wildcard. I wouldn’t expect us to get past that just yet, but it would be the cherry on top of an already good season if we can go that far. (S23) - PT1 - With a Little Help From My Friends - White Cornerback - 06-21-2020 Written Option: Everyone’s got hope for the upcoming season. Describe how your team is situated and how your teammates will be contributing this season. Are you hoping for playoff success, or simply to improve from the previous year? Are any of your teammates poised for breakout seasons or awards recognition? Lavelle Jr enters his 8th and possibly final season with the Austin Copperheads depending on how the season shakes out. I would imagine at this point in my career that anything less than atleast making it to the playoffs would be considered a gigantic failure. The team from last year hasn't changed much and neither really has the goals of the Copperheads. The core of the team is still S15-S17 guys who will all be in regression at the end of this season Including our star QB Easton Cole who still leads from the front. Austin look to build off last years gigantic turn around from 1-4-1 to a 7 game (8 game if you count the playoffs) winning streak before bowing out in the conference championship. Since the core of the team is players hitting or already in regression, the goal from here out is to challenge for another title before these players inevitably move on to retirement or to another team if they are replaced on the Copperheads. At this point the core is slowly being wittled down by the newer prospects and as the S20 guys continue to make their ways up the depth chart to the starlight spots. The goal for the copperheads now is not breakout seasons or individual accolades but rather winning our second title in franchise history. (S23) - PT1 - With a Little Help From My Friends - Dizzman - 06-21-2020 The Birddogs had an average season last year (8-8) which was not good enough to get them to the playoffs. To make matters worse, we lost 2 of our starting RBs, our starting QB and one heck of a DB. So what do we do this season? We double down on our running backs. We picked up RB Watts, who together with RB Murphy will form one heck of a one-two punch against any defense. We also still have WR Scabbia who can flat out make plays as well as our TE Rechs who is a great posession TE. Together, we have a good offensive team which can keep up with most teams. Will we need help from the defense? Of course. You cannot win a championship without it. So who will have a breakout season? I predict WR Scabbia will have one. Here is my theory. With the emphasis on the "thunder & lightning" run attack, defenses will probably cheat and put 8 men on the box, daring the offense to throw. This will be QB's Caliban's opportunity to go over their heads to Scabbia. My guess is that he will probably see a lot of single coverage with the defense so worried about the run. Will my prediction turn out right? We'll see as the season goes.... (S23) - PT1 - With a Little Help From My Friends - furiousPanda - 06-21-2020 After the successful inaugural season of the Sarasota Sailfish, we look to continue to build on top of the success. Making the playoffs in the first year of the franchise is great. Our team is situated to start competing for the Ultimus. At first, we have Banks position switching from wide receiver to quarterback. He'll look to breakout and prove everyone wrong. In addition, to the quarterback addition, we revamped our defense. We drafted two great players in the first round, Son Goku and Raphael d'Alcott. Also, we get Cuco Clemente back from the DSFL. These three players will help solidify a championship defense. The players who I can see breaking out are three. Frost, our running back is a beast in the backfield. He will be up for the offensive player of year award. Also, another players who will be up for an award is Raphael d'Alcott. He will be running for the Rookie of Year. He's a promising safety that will help terrorize the other teams. He is in the same position where Ragnor Rok had success last season. Lastly, Fawn Dillmiballs, will get the defense player of the year award. He was snubbed last season, and will only get better. He is a coverage beast, and will pull more pass deflections, interceptions and sacks. Time will tell but he will prove that this year is his year. Code: 232 words (S23) - PT1 - With a Little Help From My Friends - CLG Rampage - 06-21-2020 We're in a pretty good situation here in Yellowknife, all things considered. A bunch of young pieces like Skyline, Cho, Money and others continue to grow as guys like myself and Virtanen rapidly approach their peak. Guys like Cooter and Swift are aging badly but we have enough young pieces around them to help pick up the slack. As much as I'd love to say the transition from Cooter into Jack will be swift, that's certainly no guarantee and Season 23 is likely our last big shot at a title for a couple of seasons. That's how I see it, at least. I'm sure Fly and Shady have a bunch of contingencies in place in case things go badly, but you never know. But these next couple of seasons are gonna be rough for us. Swift and Cooter are likely to retire either this season or next, guys like Alexander and Krou are getting up there in age and while our young pieces are quite good, they still need a little bit of time in order to reach their full potential. I'm hoping I can really take off these next couple of seasons as well. With Jack coming in and a young receiving core, I'll need to step up to the plate so the team can succeed in the future. (220 Words) (S23) - PT1 - With a Little Help From My Friends - LGMForever - 06-21-2020 PBE PT Affiliation (S23) - PT1 - With a Little Help From My Friends - indonesianhusker - 06-21-2020 Coming off a 1-12 season, the rebuilding Chicago Butchers are looking to improve their record and take another step forward in becoming a contender. With a lot of holes filled by active players, the two drafts Bayley and Muford have been involved in so far can be graded as A+. The players from the last two draft classes have been super active and updating regularly so the whole team is quite balanced and on pace to peak at around the same time. It will be likely that this Butchers team can compete for a playoff spot in the next few seasons, especially with other teams’ core players regressing or retiring. Similar to last season, Chicago’s offense has been really struggling but it will get better as the season goes especially if receivers Raheem Okusi and Gryffin Oberwald keep updating every week. The Butchers also have a rookie quarterback under center in George O’Donnell so growing pains is definitely expected. Sean O’Leary and Julio Tirtawidjaja are still carrying the bulk of the offense but touchdowns have been hard to come by as the offense only scored a touchdown in 4 games played. The Butchers defense, nicknamed the Meatgrinders, have been quite under the radar given the struggles of their offensive counterpart. The defensive unit has been quite productive in generating turnovers and sacks, while also has been pretty good in stopping opponents at the goal line. But with how little the offense stays on the field, the defense has been gassed by the third quarter because they have to play a lot. Regardless, there’s a bright future for this time and with the players all bought in to improving this team to become an Ultimus contender, the league might see a competitive Butchers sooner rather than later.
