When I told my friends what I wanted to do, they were skeptical. A lot of them didn't believe in me. But, I'm a professional athlete. I've persevered in the face of the greatest obstacles. I believed in myself. I rented out a luxury suite at the Hilton in Cypress. It was fabulous. Without telling the other, I invited each of the leadership groups from Israel, the West Bank and Gaza for a nice lunch at my suite. I go way back with them from an old poker tournament circle we all used to play in, so they were all eager to catch up with me. The Hamas guys got there first, and they were straight-up gangsta'. We jammed to some old Tupac and they broke out some dope hash. When Abbas got there, they were a little on edge, but that boss hash kept them nice and calm. When Bibi walked in, though, shit was tense. Everyone started yelling and was ready to leave, but I yelled, "Hey! You are being really uncool right now." That settled things down. Once I had everyone settled in, I looked at them and said, "Listen, what you are fighting over is some super important holy-ass shit and a lot of people really want it. You need to share that shit, it's not cool what you are all doing." I could tell they were all ashamed. They all agreed they would stop having the Arab-Israeli conflict and they would be good and share the Holy Land. They all sent me fruit baskets to thank me. After being drafted by the Orange County Otters with the sixth pick in the first round, he had assumed he would be opening up the season as part of the Fanta Curtain. However, due to some budgetary limitations, it worked out that Thorian would be returning to the Tijuana Luchadores for his second season of DSFL football. You would think that he'd be disappointed to not be playing NSFL football this season, but he's actually very excited to be back in Tijuana. Not only does he have a real shot at setting some team and DSFL records this season, but most importantly, he has another shot at the coveted Ultimini trophy. After losing to the record setting Portland Pythons in last season's championship game, Thorian is more than ready to make another run at being a DSFL champion. As far as the rest of his Tijuana teammates go, this season is going to present a chance to play with an almost entirely brand new roster. Some of his teammates from last season will be returning, such as quarterbacks Andreas Metaxas and Daniel Amon, safety Jonathan Towers, and tight end Ronnie Williams. While he will miss those teammates that were ultimately called up to their NSFL team, he is looking forward to helping lead this new team of Luchadores to the promised land. (S12) - PT 1 - Back to Football - AdamS - 12-12-2018 Dick Wizardry is NOT used to the cold in Yellowknife. He's trying of course, but it's rough going. In fact he's never watched this much film before, as he spends as much time as possible in the team headquarters working. There's not a ton else to do in the city after all. Practice has been getting going nicely though. Dick being Dick, he's trying to just be the best at everything, working with the return teams, the receivers, the running backs, and studying film with Ryan Applehort as well. His teammates are learning that underneath the loud, brash, opinionated exterior is a loud, brash, opinionated person who works really hard. And plays really hard. They're also learning that Dick is the guy who keeps posting the negative things other teams and pundits say about the Wraiths onto walls in the locker room, meeting room, lunch room, and even in the stall of a bathroom. He's been in the ear of multiple teammates letting them know exactly what's been said about them. And as the off-season and practice and team meetings have gone on, you can see the other players responding. You can see the team growing a chip on it's shoulder as it continually gets reminded that nobody thinks it will be any good. Dick Wizardry can't bring heat to Yellowknife's chilly climate, but he can bring it to the Wraiths' locker room. For the first time since the S2 off season, Trey Willie moved cities and switched teams. So instead on sitting back and relaxing after another pro bowl season performance, I was meeting with realtors and working on getting all my stuff moved across the country. The main thing I realized is how much stuff I’ve acquired since signing my first NSFL contract over 9 seasons ago. While I am finally getting settled into my new town, there is still a lot of work to do. Now that I am out west, I am starting to explore my new surroundings. Taking the 202 out east to route 60, I make my way out to superstition mountain range. Story has it that back in the late 19th century, the lost Dutchman found a found a literal gold mine. He kept this a secret until he was on his death bed. At that point, he shared the location with one other person. Since then, everyone has been trying to find this mine but with no success. I guess with this long off season, I have more spare time to try my luck in these mountains. (S12) - PT 1 - Back to Football - Titan127 - 12-12-2018 Zach Skinner's offseason was spent, in the early stages at least, training at independent facilities as he contemplated free agency, but he eventually chose to re-sign on a three year deal with the team that drafted him, the Yellowknife Wraiths. While he was considering taking a look at a couple of other perennial contenders after Yellowknife's slump over the past few seasons, he decided that, with a new front office, the Wraiths just might have a turn around that had evaded them in the past. With that out of the way, Skinner spent most of his time at his home in Tennessee, away from the team and with his family, including his girlfriend, whom he proposed to during the offseason as well. It was a long time coming, as the pair had been together for three years, but Skinner didn't let it distract him from his training, as his ultimate goal is to secure a second NSFL championship before retiring. In order to do that, he knows that he needs to improve his game, and he has managed to become, he believes, a better football player through the course of this offseason. That said, Skinner has now returned to his home in Yellowknife, and is preparing himself along with a revamped Wraiths squad in order to show that they can, in fact, turn this thing around. (S12) - PT 1 - Back to Football - PaytonM34 - 12-12-2018 oh man you guys dont even want to hear about brian mill's offseason it was a disaster more of a disaster then you can even imagine like imagine the biggest disaster you could think of, forget about it cuz thats only like half the disaster that this offseason was because the first day after winning the ultimus brian mills missed his plane back to tijuana to go visit the luchadores as they were going to be playing in the dsfl ultimini and guess what he didn't even make it to the game which obviously was why they ended up losing to the snake pythons like how are the pythons still good i dont even know but anyways the rest of the offseason was thrown out of whack right from day one because brian was only able to watch film on the past season like 3 whole times and god damn his joints are getting to the best of him it feels like next season theres going to be some spontaneous drop in talent for whatever reason thats what all players entering their 7th season go through it must be some kind of crazy football phenomenon overall but you know what just kidding it was actually a decent offseason. 208 words (S12) - PT 1 - Back to Football - Mack - 12-12-2018 This was a very busy off season for me as I was drafted by the San Jose SaberCats! Prior to the draft I was working with my old kicking coach each day working on increasing my accuracy from longer ranges. Once I got drafted by San Jose it was a huge wave of changes. They had many coaching staff and trainers reach out to me and and set me up on a new training program that involves a massive diet change. They want me eating very specific foods and amounts. It's been a big adjustment for me but it's nice to have so many smart football minds around me in San Jose to help me grow. I invited my family out to San Jose and they loved every minute of it. I have never been here before and I feel so lucky to have been drafted here. It's an amazing city and I love the ocean so being so close is a dream come true. I met some of the team and went out on a couple dinners with some of the guys but there will be more getting to know them as the year goes on. Right now I am just so pumped to get back to kicking shit though because that's what I do. |
