With the so called experts and every football analyst in the country predicting the Baltimore Hawks at the bottom of the barrel in this NSFL. Then the Hawks dominate with a 4-0 preseason performance that has the every sports media outlet doing a 180 and lauding praise on the Hawks. It's only natural for the Hawks to be a little skeptical of the media as the first regular season of NSFL competition prepares to kick off You see the Hawks refused to listen to the farcical claims that their secondary was the weakest in the league. The performance by the group has been phenomenal and the pundits are truly eating crow.. Make that 'Hawk'. Yes, cornerbacks Antoine Delacour, Matthew Peterson and safeties Matt Smith and Devin Speed along with the utility wrench that is nickleback Sunday Showcase have jelled quickly together and this secondary is the top rated unit at the close of the four game undefeated Hawks preseason. The Hawks also refused to hear that their quarterback Scrub Kyubee was at most a journeyman simply holding the title of starter until one of the more popular names was available thru waivers or via a trade. Kyubee performance throughout the preseason was that of a true franchise player and the inability of the football media to recognize that speaks volumes of the kind of stealth weapon Kyubee has been and what the "experts" truly know about Baltimore's NSFL franchise . The Hawks understand the undefeated 4-0 preseason gets them no closer to the prize. Preseason is just that and the Hawks like all teams in this league have experimented and tested. The difference being the Hawks have done it well. But the preseason has disproven the "experts" and considering the level of skepticism and disrespect that surrounded the team immediately following the draft, the Hawks are soaring into the regular season. The dangers ahead are ...Will the team lose focus with the ease of the preseason success? Many a preseason 'Contender' has been revealed to be a 'Pretender' when the long regular season grind takes its toll. Will the Offensive line hold up and provide better protection thru the course of the season ? Scrub was sacked 12 times in preseason and that is a dangerous indication of a potential problem.....Will the lack of depth behind Kyubee necessitate a trade for a backup should the O line fail to keep Kyubee upright? ...Will waiver claim WR Ryan Lecavalier overtake highly touted Cooper Christmas? Remember the hype "Christmas = Touchdown" Well Christmas's lack of production this preseason is rumored to be an apparent inability to connect with his quarterback and Kyubee's reliance on targeting security blanket TE. Gabe Tenzini. Will this continue and allow Lecavalier an opportunity to become the second reciever for the Hawks ? [/div] Now that the Orange County Otters have completed preseason, we are on the brink of the NSFL inaugural season opener! Everyone in the locker room is very excited about the season opener and have been practicing and training to get that all important win to start off the season on a good note. The Otters and Bradley Westfield were very optimistic about their playoffs chances this season after their 2-2 preseason debut. The preseason record shows 50% but the information that they gathered on their players, schemes, and playbook is invaluable. Now that everything in place to succeed for the Otters they look to get their best foot forward with a win. Westfield said in an interview “I had to leave my family back at home in Buffalo while I traveled to the team’s training facilities. Right now my focus is playoffs and getting the team there. I love what I see from the team already and hope we can take it all the way!” In another interview with an old coach of Westfield’s Tim Nora he said “Playoffs? Don’t talk about — playoffs? You kidding me? Playoffs? I just hope we can win a game!” So we have both sides of the story, cautiously optimistic and overly optimistic. We will see… but until then, I’m otter here. (Pun intended.) Code: 219 words (S1) - Weekend PT #2 - Media Frenzy - Law - 06-10-2017 Code: 210 words BUST Alert! The Colorado Yeti had a pretty rough season, and it was topped off by the poor play of the offence. Starting quarterback Logan Nobel looked like a college quarterback, his accuracy was off, and his confidence looked like it was at an all time low. For a team that was rumoured to be a pass first offence, they have a lot of work to do heading into the season. Another poor performance in this preseason came from wide receiver DJ Law, who was selected 10th overall in the draft. DJ Law who was expected to be a deep threat, did not catch a ball for more then 21 yards, and did not have a game with more then 80 yards. To add to the poor play of DJ Law, he also did not add a single touchdown throughout the four games the Yeti's played. The Colorado defence also looked average throughout preseason, however this can be attributed to the amount of time the defence was spent to be on the field. With the offences poor play, the defence often found themselves back on the field. Moving into the regular season the Yeti's offence must improve, or else it is going to hurt the team on both sides off the ball. (S1) - Weekend PT #2 - Media Frenzy - DollarAndADream - 06-10-2017 NSFL.com Have you ever heard of Scrub Kyubee? Well, the club scene in Baltimore has ever since he got drafted there. Over this past weekend, Scrub was spotted at multiple venues over in the downtown Baltimore districts. Was this a team's night out? Nobody can be sure, because most of the time Scrub Kyubee was by himself, trying to hit it off with the Baltimore ladies. Multiple sources have claimed to have heard Scrub Kyubee going off about how he is number one. Likely paraphrased, but he has been quoted with yelling things like, "I AM THE FUTURE OF BALTIMORE!", and "KYUBEE IS NOW YOUR HERO FROM HERE ON OUT!". Coming out of the draft, people surely knew who Scrub Kyubee was, at least, if you were into football. But much of that Baltimore population during his nights out had no idea who it was that was yelling for all to hear. As far as the city of Baltimore is concerned, the city might have a future star on their hands, or as the name says, a future Scrub. They will definitely know his name over the next few years, but he is getting ahead of himself with his all high and mighty ego. We caught up with Scrub Kyubee prior to this morning's Hawks practice, and this is what he stated: "I was drunk as fuck, so my bad. I know I have pressure on me, but I guess the alcohol got the best of me. Also the coke. Lots and lots of cocaine. My bad. Also I might have hired a few escorts that night as well. Maybe I shouldn't have said that. Nobody is going to read this article right? Actually, don't publish that." Well, Scrub, we sure did publish it. (S1) - Weekend PT #2 - Media Frenzy - Bengals1Fan - 06-10-2017 Vick Bowers Jr. starts off strong Published Sat June 10th - 8:20 PM The NSFL's official preseason was completed this last week while coaches and players continued to prepare for the Inagural Season. One player who had a strong showing, was 5th round selection Vick Bowers Jr. had a strong showing in the San Jose Sabercats opening 4 exhibition games. Bowers Jr. was the 3rd running back off the board in the NSFL opening draft but has outplayed the other backs in the league that were selected before him in the preseason. Part of this can be allocated to Bowers strong earning potential in Training Camp Events and Practice leading up to the season, but the other part is all based on the Sabercats strong offensive line. The Sabercats captain Ben Longshaw plays on the line, and he helps lead the charge for Bowers Jr on the front line. The Sabercats are looking to get off on the right foot in the NSFL, and at 2-2 for the preseason, the Cats have a strong outlook heading into the regular season considering that they finished the preseason on a two game winning streak. Bowers Jr. and the Sabercats open the season on Monday, and Bowers Jr. will look to start opening up the holes with the help of his offensive line and take some of the pressure off of Jameis Christ and the passing game for the Sabercats. 224 Words (S1) - Weekend PT #2 - Media Frenzy - TheWoZy - 06-10-2017 [div align=\\\"center\\\"]Bojo kicksit: They should rename the team to my name[/div] It wasn’t an impressive start for the Colorado Yeti. They finished the preseason with a 1-3 record. The preseason helped them to know what they should work on. First off, their passing game was terrible. In the first game, they only got one field goal but they were leading in time of possession and total yards. But they had 3 turnovers during the game, 2 from an interception and 1 by a fumble. The yeti needs to find a way to make QB Logan Noble shine. 6 of his pass were defended from 5 different defensemen. They also had a yard per pass of 4.3 which is not great for a 26 on 46 pass completed. The offensive line needs a rework as they allowed 4 sacks. However, their running game wasn’t terrible. They had a 4.8 yards/rush which was better than their passing. Two of their running backs, Tiernan and O’Connell, almost had a rushing yard of 100. But the only problem with them is they never had a rushing TD during the preseason. In the end, to prove that their offense were just terrible, the Yeti had scored 7 field goal which equal 21 points and they scored 3 touchdowns which also equal 21 points. But 3 of those points are from the XP so Bojo Kicksit scored 24 points while the offense scored only 18. If they can continuing like this, the fans shouldn’t expect a playoff berth for this season! Just in time for the regular season, the NSLF Network will provide GMs, players, and fans with the latest in NSFL news. ![]() How it Works Every Monday night (9pm EST) the NSFLN will post a list of approximately 10 headlines that aspiring writers can claim. The posting will list the headline, bonus amount, minimum word count, and deadline. Once an article is claimed, the writer that claims it gets to be the sole writer to write the article. The writer has no guidelines for the story other than the headline and minimum word count. As long as they meet the criteria and deadline they get the full bonus. If they miss their initial deadline, their bonus will be halved. If they are still unable to produce an article after another period equal to the initial deadline, they will no longer be eligible for a bonus. Why Should You Write These Articles That sweet, sweet cash. The majority of these articles will have a minimum word count less than 500 words and a bonus payout that would net the writer at least $1,000,000. These articles will also provide more variety to the types of articles currently in NSFL Media. So as a NSFLN writer, you get paid above average and get to tell a story that hasn’t been told. How Can You Be Involved There are two main ways for players to be involved. The first is to be a NSFLN writer, claim a story you see posted and write the article. The second way is what we hope will make the league even more exciting. If have a storyline in mind for your player, but don’t have the time or desire to write it, send me a private message with the storyline. We will work with you to develop the story and it will be posted as one of our headlines for another writer to claim. This can get your player in the headlines, without you having to write a single word. Example of How Posting Will Look “Interview with NFSL Referee Ted Mochuli” - Bonus $750,000 - min 500 words - deadline 5 days “The Draxel and Stormblessed Connection” (preseason passing and receiving leaders) - Bonus of $600,000, additional $500,000 bonus if interview with Draxel and Stormblessed - min 500 words - deadline 7 days “NSFL Pancake Leader Analysis” - Bonus of $700,000 - min 350 words - deadline 5 days TL;DR To recap, every Monday night we post headlines we want to see stories about. Writers claim the headline and write their story. Once the story is posted, the writer receives a substantial bonus payment in addition to their regular payment for article length. If you want an article or series of articles written about your player, PM me. ![]() (S1) - Weekend PT #2 - Media Frenzy - CaptainCats - 06-10-2017 Dirk Cutter Playing With a Chip on His Shoulder Entering S1 "With the third pick in the NSFL draft the Colorado Yeti select... Philipe Carter." Dirk Cutter was in disbelief, truly believing he was the best DB available in the draft. 19 more picks would go by (including two more DBs in Mayran Jackson and Stanislaw Maddox) before Cutter would hear his name. "Of course I'd like to play in Yellowknife, let's bring a championship there." With that Cutter confirmed that he would look to prove five other GMs wrong playing with the Wraiths. So far he has shown that his confidence was not unfounded, in 4 preason games he led the league with 3 INTs bringing one back to the house. His ball-hawking does lead to being burnt occasionly as receivers matched up against him averaged 5/80.8 and 0.5 TD (though both TDs were scored by Damian West). Whether or not the big talking CB can continue to back it up with his play will be a story to follow throughout the season. |
