(S13) - PT 3 - NSFL Appreciation Week - White Cornerback - 02-22-2019 WRITTEN: For many, the NSFL is their main or only Sim league and for some it is one of many leagues. In at least 200 words, write about your favorite things about the NSFL or favorite memories, people you have met, etc. I joined the league way back in June 2017 after seeing it advertised on reddit through either r/azcardinals or r/madden sometime in late May. At first I really thought it would be way to much work for me but days later I signed up. The rest is of course history as Lavelle finally looks to be heading into his final season before forced retirement kicks in, but that's the player. I've got many great moments, from early on being a waiver player on Yellowknife in an incredibly active LR and of course the season after with defacto GM @Bzerkap picking me up. From there we've lost alot of good guys but people like @SwagSloth made that Wraiths LR a great place to be. I remember finally winning an Ultimus in S8, after 8 seasons of disappointment. I remember watching the entire S2 Draft live on twitch until my boy Torque Lewith got picked (he plummeted and has gone IA but ilu). I remember watching all the live streams with Muford and requesting Juicy by Biggie on loop. I remember it all. I remember all the good shit talking times in HO with slm, dwyer, bayley, asylum and many more who passed through that role. I think far too often I forget just the brain drain that occurs and stress as a result of that role, despite being in it for over a year real time myself. I apologize to the members of HO who are no doubt by now sick of my "feedback" or suggestions and I in the future will try to step down from my involvement in the league after my players retire. I think I really need to learn to let go and understand that it's not my league anymore and that change will happen organically. I remember all the times when everything was going wrong with me in my head, my body and with everything else. I remember finding solace with @Ben when I explained my situation and he could comprehend what I was saying, albeit those paragraphs could've been sent altogether as opposed to 5000, single lines. I remember all the times this league brought me out of depression and other times gave me an escape that was temporary and not permanent and the latter choice came up far too often but thankfully I never followed through with it. I've likely missed loads of great moments but to me this league helped me in more ways than I'll ever be able to pay back either financially, verbally or through a mix. A lot of people will comment jokingly about how the league has taken over their life or became a big priority but for me the league didn't take my life, it saved it. (S13) - PT 3 - NSFL Appreciation Week - NamelessNate - 02-22-2019 The National Simulation Football League was not my first sim league, but it is a sim league I do find myself to enjoy. My first sim league was the Pro Baseball Experience that I just happen chanced on through a post on r/MLBtheShow that got deleted almost 10 minutes after it being posted. It was through the people I met in the Pro Baseball Experience that I learned there was a simulation league for my favorite sport, football! Football will always be my number one love when it comes to sports, although I never really got to play it because I thought I was undersized, and instead played baseball, I always felt that I knew and understood the strategy of football better. This league, although the engine has its rough edges, is purely about who's strategy is the best in order to win the game and that just fascinates me. But that's truly not the best part about this league, the best part is the people you meet along the way. The community here is truly amazing and I have made some friends that I would have otherwise never have met. That is why the National Simulation Football League is among the best, because even when you're having a shitty day, week, or month, there is a community out there that can surely help you overcome. I also dabble in SHL and EFL, but as my first league, I feel more connected here. It started out with me going to the Wraiths and, as I’ve said many times, I had no clue what I was doing; I was completely lost. But they took me in and really helped me out. Especially @Bzerkap and @NUCK. I also got to know a lot of great teammates like @White Cornerback, @CDub2, and several others. It was just a fantastic experience. Bzerkap also taught me a lot about GMing when he made me his co, which allowed me to become the new Arizona GM yesterday. Leaving YKW was tough. Eric Kennedy was a lifer and I wanted him to retire there, but I didn’t know what to do next. In truth, I have a habit of getting comfortable around people and not branching out. I could have stayed in YKW forever; the co-GM spot was still open, I believe, and we could have found ways to keep me around. Heck, if I didn’t position change from QB, YKW probably could have picked me up in the second round. But then I would only interact with one 8th of the league. So, I took the plunge and tried to get the drafted as early as possible. Arizona drafted me and I was psyched because they drafted me 3rd overall. I knew I was a top earner, but it still felt good to be picked so early. I was nervous going in as I only knew a few people, but the LR was super inviting and they treated me really well. I knew a few people like @DeathOnReddit, @run_CMC, and @Durden going in, but quickly got to know the rest of the locker room (who I’ll tag at the bottom, so many haha). I enjoyed it so much that, when kolbe retired, it made me want to make a commitment to the team because I knew they needed me. And, when Run had to step down (after a great run as GM with some unfortunate luck), I decided to become a GM again. I really enjoyed the role when I was a co, but personal matters forced me to step down. Thankfully, I’m now in a place where I can return to this type of role and really excited to continue to be part of this amazing squad. 419 Words Additional tags: @evryday @ItsJustBarry @jaskins811 @J.G.10 @karl @maxcrazy @Moosecop @Tomen (S13) - PT 3 - NSFL Appreciation Week - PDXBaller - 02-22-2019 The National Simulation Football League was my first sim league and it’s one of my favorite leagues ever. I have spent the most time in this league and have stayed the most consistent here. I have a lot of favorite memories and it’s hard to pinpoint a few. One of my favorite memories was taking over the Portland Pythons in S4 and rebranding them while winning the Ultimini. I helped the Pythons stay in a competitive space for quite some time while transitioning to being the Philadelphia Liberty General Manager. We had a few tough seasons, but one of my favorite memories here was winning the Ultimus against a really tough Otters team in season 7. I couldn’t believe it happened honestly and is still one of my most unexpected results, but we pulled it off in shocking fashion. I’ve met a ton of people through the league and there are too many to name and count. They are honestly all great people and I’ve built a lot of great relationships over my time here in the NSFL. I hope to make more memories in the future and I think the league will continue to prosper and give more memories as time goes on.
