(S15) - PT4 - Gaming - Mooty99 - 06-04-2019 Word count 251 When I am not training or playing I always find video games a great escape, but unlike many of my fellow teammates I prefer different games to simple sports games like madden or fifa or big popular shooter games like pubg or battleground. For me the best games have always been strategy games. I have played many many strategy games in my time however I tend to prefer big complex grand strategy, and what is really a bigger strategy than crusader kings 2 by paradox games. I know for those who don't know the game it doesn't sound that grand but it really REALLY is. Crusader Kings 2 is a huge sandbox type game where you take control of a nobleman. You then try and advance your families power and land and when he dies you become your heir and so on and so on. Sounds simple right? Did I mention that you can be any landed nobleman from a simple count, powerful duke, mighty king or all powerful emperor trying to rule a single county to a vast kingdom full of your squabbling nobles hell bent on bettering themselves at each others and even your expense. You can start anytime from the 8 century to the 15th century and it covers the whole of Europe, North Africa am most of Asia. I love the scale of the game so for an hour or 2 a day I am no long Mako but King Alfred, Duke William or even Genghis Khan. Back in the day I used to always play Ring King, Mike Tysons Punch Out, Excite bike, and Zelda. Those were the early day favorites. Now my main games that I play are FTL (faster than light), Hearthstone, Torn, and NSFL. I’ll give a mini review of FTL. FTL: Faster Than Light is a space game where you have crewman on your ship of choice. Everyone has their specialty and their own battle station. The gist of it is you start on the left side of the map with many jump points on the map. Working your way from the left side of the map to the right side of the map, you can’t lollygag too much because you have the empire chasing you. (essentially a line that moves from the left side to the right side of the screen. Thus forcing you to hit the exit on the right side and move to the next zone. If the line overtakes you, you have to fight an empire ship which is strong, and once beaten you get nothing but to get away and stay out of their reach. Each jump point is a random experience usually a battle between your ship and the enemy or neutral ship. This is the meat of the game. Of the random experiences you can run into shops where merchants are selling anything from weapon, crew, upgrades, drones, etc.. that you can buy. There are many different types of fits for your ship and you can choose to destroy the enemy different ways from sending your crew to board their ship and kill their asses. Or you can set fires on their ship, you can damage their hull and then damage their oxygen systems and suffocate the crew to death. You can be a Ion ship and tear through their shields and shut down their weapons, you can be a straight up missile ship and or a rail gun ship and just blow them out of the water with pure offense. There are so many different strategies. All the while the enemy is doing the same to you, so you’re running around having crew put out fires, or repairing hull damage, or repairing sub systems. A huge part is you can pause it. Select your crew, send them where you want them to go, select which weapons/drones/missiles you want to fire and where they are targeting. It was a very well thought out and planned game. (425 words) (S15) - PT4 - Gaming - majesiu - 06-05-2019 PBE or this one CW (S15) - PT4 - Gaming - C9Van - 06-05-2019 Laszlo is a simple man. He truly enjoys most well made video games. However, his main passionate genre would easily be (Shockingly) fighting games. Dragon ball Z, Street Fighter, Smash, WWE and MMA fighting games. You name them, Laszlo probably has a respectable amount of hours on them. The list goes on but his favourite game would have to be Mortal Kombat series. Yes the Hungarian third person speaking brute is indeed a mortal kombat fan and has been most of his life. Loving each edition onwards. He loves to see the new finishers as they give him inspiration. Even the PG ones in Injustice 1 and 2 do as well. "Laszlo enjoy breaking human body. Laszlo love to know new exciting way he could hurt people with. Laszlo once use helmet to beat the shit out of annoying college fan after game. Laszlo get inspiration from Mortal Kombat." He is of the firm belief that video games don't create violent people. However, that doesn't mean it can't give inspiration to people who are good at hurting and dominating people. Laszlo usually plays as Johnny Cage. He is easy to play and he respects his confidence because he is that damn good. "Laszlo see a lot of himself in Mr. Cage. Excluding annoying thot of a daughter. Mr. Forty-Two hates that bitch." When she does have the chance she does play FIFA or Mario Kart with her girlfriend Dottie Morimura, but normally Rosie's looking for a solo experience in games. She's enjoyed games like Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice that have great meaning and story behind them. Stuff like that is really fun and enjoyable, not to mention absolutely beautiful to look at and experience. Stuff like Mass Effect: Andromeda, which so many people panned, it's still fun to just get lost within the character. If you can't do that, then the game isn't really worth it. On the other hand, she's still a sports fan, seeing as she grew up in a sports family. Her other big game that she plays is Football Manager. She likes to take on personal challenges like fixing up her local Chicago Fire, building up a Regional Team in England (usually Stockport County), and other things. Recently she found a database that adds women's players to the game and she's been having fun playing around in the French women's league. Still, nothing beats just calmly playing some sort of single-player sports game like NHL, 2k, or even the old Tiger Woods games. It's just nice to relax and listen to music or even watch Youtube videos alongside the game. (S15) - PT4 - Gaming - plantane - 06-05-2019 Xerxes Ridley's favorite games as a child were always the Metroid series. Once Ridley played his first one and learned that the antagonist shares his name, he immediately fell in love with the menacing looking beast. Even throughout college and into his adulthood, Ridley enjoys playing Metroid games when he has the time and mind power. However, after exhausting days at the training facility or tough games, Ridley often opts for games that are more relaxing or easier to play. In these cases, he enjoys to play the newest edition of Madden or Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Throughout his whole childhood, Ridley was devastated that his namesake was unplayable and portrayed as a monster. Naturally, in Ultimate, Ridley was immensely excited to hear that the dragon was added to the roster and it has become one of his favorite characters to play. Another perk of playing Madden or Ultimate in his free time is that he gets to play with fellow Pythons during their off time. He has had intense series with fellow Python Grievous on multiple occasions to celebrate huge victories in the league. In addition, Ridley is a firm believer that he can use video games to break the ice with rookies and help them feel more comfortable with him.
