(S16) - PT3 - Trading Places - wuma - 07-23-2019 If I could switch roles with any player on my team, I think I would probably switch with the punter. I've always been interested in punting, as I feel it can have a dramatic impact on the game and a good punt can put the offense in a tough position when they receive the ball. While I would enjoy the new position, I don't think I would be a very good punter if I'm being honest. I've spent no time training my kicking abilities, nor have I ever really punted before. Regardless, I'm pretty sure I'd be able to kick the ball pretty far. I don't even want to guess on how the accuracy would be, but for word count I should. I think the term is "couldn't hit the back side of a barn." Still, it'd be a neat thing to try. As far as a punter taking over my position, I think it's a bit out of their element. They'd be on the field a lot more, and they'd have to try and tackle receivers or backs. I know punters are usually on the smaller side, so I'm pretty sure it'd result in some bad defensive plays but hilarious clips. (202 words) (S16) - PT3 - Trading Places - nunccoepi - 07-23-2019 So, I'm asked if I could change places or roles or whatever with one other player on my team, who would be? Wow this one is easy, I would have to say that it would be @DeathOnReddit. First of all, I would be able to run my mouth constantly about accomplishments that I just feel ass-backwards into (although, admittedly this specific role has been more or less taken by @YoungTB, another Hawks teammate) because absolutely no one does it like him. And as much as it is annoying, you can't deny that he is one of the best to do it, and that this is still an important and valuable role to the community. Also, as last season demonstrates, he still somehow does actually luck into these types of accomplishments--like winning all these crazy awards at CB despite being only like 500tpe and not having update in 3 months. The man is a legend, what can I say. So that's like my 40% true answer. The other 60% of truth is just that I wouldn't want to trade roles with anyone else. I've loved playing TE since day 1 because it is a position that is in high demand and a great benefit to a team. Its actually fun to play and has allowed me to collect a handful of awards since no one else (DiMirio aside) has taken the position seriously until the last couple of seasons, really. (S16) - PT3 - Trading Places - Huskies311 - 07-23-2019 If I were to switch positions with anyone on the Hawks it would have to hands down be the kicker, ForThe Brand. I know being a kicker isn’t a glorious position but at the end of the day who needs fame? There’s nothing better than to slam a few brewskis everyday, barely practice, and show up for 5 plays a game max while earning a nice paycheck. Plus, I’d still be able to walk and talk proper sentences by the time I’m 40, which is a lot more than any running back will be able to say. I mean honestly, kicking just practically seems like a coin flip anyway regardless of how skilled the kicker is. Could just miss a kick and shrug it off to the circumstances. Outside of position swaps, if I could switch leadership roles I’d run the team for a day. Honestly, I would just ship the contracts of all of our players overseas to China for absurd amounts of money like soccer. I’d then buy the team since it’s value plummeted due to having zero players, and then resell the team to Qatar. After that I’d change my name, move to Belize like I’m John McAfee, and live like I’m Hugh Hefner for the rest of my life. (S16) - PT3 - Trading Places - idkman - 07-23-2019 Like a lot of people here, I'd probably trade places with my QB, Jordan McCann III. (If we switched positions, Jordan would be a WR, QB, and RB, which would be epic, but)Obviously, as you all know, I have a cannon arm at a whopping 15 Arm rating, and with dedicated training I could upgrade all the way to a 25. Jokes aside, if I could force my GM to make me the QB I would do it because I get the ball on every play (which means big dubs for any team in that situation) and I also get paid big bucks. Even if I can't throw the ball more than 15 feet, I could just run it every play and get touchdowns on every drive. They wouldn't expect a thing until about halfway into the game where they'd definitely expect it and probably put their entire defense on the line, but you'd need more than that to stop me with the ball every play.. Even if I couldn't throw the ball, I'd be a gigantic meme like Nathan Peterman or something, which means higher jersey/merch sales, which means, you guessed it, more $$$$! Also more publicity, which means you'd be more well-known, and really, some people in sports get more well-known for being bad than they could've ever been being a decent role-player. Even if that didn't work out I could still just keep running and throw in a screen play every once and a whrle. Boom, easy rings. First an Ultimini, then an Ultimus, maybe a few more. Speaking of Ultiminis, did you know Saba has an Ultimini? Cool, right? Bet you didn't know. Anyway, that's why I would want to switch positions with my Quarterback. (S16) - PT3 - Trading Places - Jonny2x - 07-23-2019 Sam is having a great season! Much better than even my highest expectations. However most of this is due to the position his team has put him in. He is currently leading the league in rushing because our quarterback is still developing and her pass attempts are being intentionally kept low. If Sam could switch places with Kazimir Oles, I think that would be ideal for the Butchers. Oles' TPE earnings would insta-max him at running back and instead of leading the league as Sam is, he would most likely be smashing the league. Based solely on Sam's numbers I would guess plugging Oles into the same situation would look something like 235 carries for 1250 yards and 12 TD's at this point in the season. The Butchers probably have 1 more win on the season as well. Sam had a terrible game against Baltimore, that was winnable. As far as Sam at wideout, it would not be an ideal fit but if we were swapping roles I could move some of Sam's strength into hands and he could hold his own at the position. I think the huge offensive bump Oles gives to the running game more than makes up for the loss in the passing game. The one negative to this switch would not be having Oles breakaway speed at the wide receiver position in case the Butchers got down early. I still think the swap picks up another win for the team and solidifies them as a Ultimus Championship contender. (S16) - PT3 - Trading Places - White Cornerback - 07-23-2019 Every player on your team has a role. If you could switch places with one member of your team, who would you switch with? It can be a position swap, or depth chart adjustment, or even leadership role change. What would you do different in their role? How would you do and how would they do in your role? If I had the ability to switch places with any member of my team, I of course would choose to switch places with our QB Easton Cole @Jkortesi. Cole has been absolute cheeks so far this season and has let the Austin Copperheads to a pathetic 0-8 record. Cole has been abysmal this season posting a pathetic 6/16 TD/INT record with a measly 1,605 passing yards with a completion percentage of just 52% which is the worst in the league. Why would I change? Because I don't know if you've realised by Lavelle Jr. comes from a long lineage of incredible quality american football players. His father, Lavelle Sr. actually had a brief stint as a quarterback in the fixture known as the Jbear memorial game. Lavelle actually lit it up that game and despite throwing literally no touchdowns and having I think a fumble and three interceptions, he still won the game because he managed to get a rushing touchdown and actually win the game in a heroic manner. I believe that with Lavelle at the helm of the Austin offense, he would be slinging bombs and fucking moms while leading Austin to the S16 playoffs with an impressive 5-8 record. Austin would of course take the league by storm, Jaylen Storm. (S16) - PT3 - Trading Places - terriblehippo - 07-23-2019 Code: Ready to be graded (260 words) It's a little-known fact, but when Quenton Bode first started playing football, he actually played running back. This was mostly due to the fact that he was much larger than any of his opponents (and any of his teammates, for that matter), which made him much harder to stop. It wasn't until college that he elected to switch to linebacker. Bode thoroughly enjoys playing linebacker, but that doesn't mean that there aren't times when he wonders what his life would be like if he had stayed at his original position. If Bode could switch roles with any of his teammates, he'd like to to switch with his old friend Forrest Gump (@TomHanks) and try his hand at running back again. The NSFL is very different from high school football in Alaska, so Bode isn't under the illusion that he could dominate like he did back in the day. Still, he's curious about just how effective he could be on offense. He also thinks that playing offense in the NSFL, even for a brief period of time, would give him more insight into that side of the ball, and he could take that knowledge and use it to become a better defender. Bode is perfectly happy playing linebacker: he feels like that position is his true calling, and so it's unlikely that we'll ever see him on the offensive side of the ball. But it's an interesting thought experiment (mostly because the switch would make Gump a linebacker, and honestly who wouldn't enjoy watching that?). (S16) - PT3 - Trading Places - Jiggly_333 - 07-23-2019 I'm choosing to do this PT, not because I wanna do this PT, but because the PBE doesn't have a real PT this week and the SMJHL is in championship week. So this means that I gotta do this one. I'm pretty sure Rose Jenkins is very happy to be a QB. I mean, she specifically became a QB against the wishes of her father Leroy who wanted her to be a kicker. As a kicker, I think that she'd probably be doing better, but be a lot unhappier. She puts a lot of work into the gym and while kickers are very important, I think that Rosie realized that she wouldn't really ever feel like she's improving. When she finally came up from the DSFL, she saw the change for her. In fact, there might not be enough room for her to be a kicker in the league. However, I think that she'd be into being a George Blanda type kicker/quarterback. Send her out there every down on offense and the defense doesn't know what to expect. Is she in really deep shotgun formation or is she punting it away? So instead of "trading places" with the punter/kicker, I think that Rosie would just steal his job and combine it with her own. (S16) - PT3 - Trading Places - woelkers - 07-23-2019 When Bubba Thumper first stepped foot on the gridiron, he was assigned to the fullback position; despite somewhat lackluster performance in that role, Thumper learned the importance of the running game, and this is why he chose to focus on stuffing the run at defensive tackle. So, if Thumper had to trade places with another member of his team, he would likely slide into a spot on the offensive line; however, for the sake of this exercise, we'll swap him with tight end Timmy Hoss. Obviously, Thumper doesn't have phenomenal hands, nor does he have a great understanding of blocking technique, but there's little doubt that he is strong, and his speed has been improving, so being the hard worker he is, Thumper could theoretically develop into a leader on the line of scrimmage, possibly even an all-around guy at tight end. As for Hoss, he may struggle a little with tackling, but he absolutely has the strength and speed to compete on the defensive line, although it's tough to say he could ever be Thumper's equal at defensive tackle. Realistically, all of this is a pipe dream; Thumper belongs at defensive tackle, and Hoss should remain at tight end. But, imagining the possibilities is fun, no doubt. (S16) - PT3 - Trading Places - Duilio05 - 07-24-2019 I would swap positions with Earl Maddox. I played through high school on both the offense and defense as a safety and wide receiver. Having the opportunity to play wide receiver again would be a blast. Just the process of actually running routes and attempting to get open rather than playing. It is strange how similar catching a ball on offense is to making an interception, but results in completely different emotions. Catching a pass as a wide receiver is almost like a trust fall exercise. I’m trusting the Quarterback to throw the ball in a way that i can catch it, and I fulfill his trust by catching; and then immediately having to brace for impact as the defender tackles me. On the defense side of the ball I have to react to the actions of the wide receiver and make the quarterback not throw in my area or make sure the wide receiver doesn’t catch it. Yet every so often things go wrong and I, the defender, am able to catch the ball instead of the wide receiver. In that moment is a weird feeling that I failed to execute proper defense, but the outcome still benefits my team. I don’t think Maddox would want to switch, and Fatih and I are the best safety combo in the league. |
