(S16) - Ultimus Week - majesiu - 08-06-2019 PBE Affiliation (S16) - Ultimus Week - Duilio05 - 08-06-2019 Next Year This last season was Shady and mine’s first season as General Managers of San Antonio. We were able to make our locker room more active, getting players excited about the team and staying active through the season. We had the best runningback in the league, Ashley Owens. We had a really tough defense that put their heart into every drive. Despite having zero active players returning from the season before, We managed to eek out a 7 - 7 record. We’re not a losing team!! We suffered a playoff loss to TIjuana. In fact we lost all five games this season against Tijuana. That is not going to happen next year, it will be different. We have a veteran Quarterback returning to lead the team, and expect a few of our key defense players will remain with us as well. Making sure to draft only the best players from this next r/nfl class, We will be able to lead the San Antonio Marshals back to DSFL domination. With both Norfolk and Palm Beach returning as human teams, it means that the league will be even more difficult. However we are ready to get our team ready and excited for the season and win next season’s playoff game. SPotlight on Youth I will be spotlighting S15 player Brock Landers. Landers has been incredible for Arizona, He has allowed the team to open up both the passing and rushing attack for the teams offense. Despite having only the 15th most TPE for a wide receiver in the league, in fact several S15 wide receivers currently have more TPE, Lander produced the 8th most receiving yards in the league. This continues the trend he started his rookie season 8th most receiving yards in the league that year too. He has stepped up and become a vocal leader for the Arizona Outlaws pushing them all the way to an Ultimus victory. He will continue to have a bright future with the team, and be a great advocate to get Free Agent targets to sign with Arizona instead of somewhere else. It is truly amazing that only three season after switching from QB to WR he is now an Ultimus champion, and enters an esteemed group of S15 players that can say they have a ring. Congrats to Brock Landers for making this team a competitive opponent that can keep the rest of the NSFC in line when Baltimore doesn’t make it to the Ultimus. robbed It is rough sitting on the sidelines after just a season before I was hoisting the Ultimus Trophy with my teammates. This season was a treacherous slugfest that I think Baltimore ended up on the wrong side of luck. We took an early season loss in week 3 to Liberty at home despite being the overall better skilled team. We traded games with YKW and Butchers, and then lost again to Liberty which was followed up by a home loss to San Jose. WIth only a few games remaining we weren’t looking good as Liberty held the tiebreaker over us. We even beat eventual Ultimus Champions Arizona in Week 11 to keep our playoff hopes alive. We barely eeked a win out against New Orleans in Week 12 and had to face Orange County to finish the season while Philadelphia had a nice home game against Austin. It was like destiny insisted that we miss the playoffs. In almost every game we lost, we had above 50% win rate. At the end of the season, according to the TPE Tracker, we have the strongest Defense and the third strongest offense, yet we only had the fifth most points for and was third lowest for points allowed. In both categories we should have been better based on TPE. sit down with a star I interviewed @Rradum as the GM of Kansas City This is your 3rd(?) Season as KCC GM, what do you enjoy the most in the GM process? I enjoy the draft process the most and meeting new people. Always fun to have an active locker room that wants to win as much as you do. Despite losing in the playoffs, what stands out the most from this season? So you just had to rub it in huh? Just kidding. This biggest standout part about this season was the activity in our locker room. At least 7 or 8 people were consistently in our locker room chatting about the games, stats, and where they might be drafted. It’s been really great to have such a solid group of guys to work with. What feature of the KCC locker room is your favorite? Do you have a minibar like Dugan does at Tijuana? In the KCC locker room we have a nice lobby where people from all over can stop by and chat with the players and staff. Somehow that traitor Numbers is in there but it’s still fun nonetheless. How do you feel about the NSFL allowing a polar bear(Quenton Bode - terriblehippo) play in the league? I’m happy to see the league be inclusive for all beings. There’s also a Goomba in the league if I’m remembering correctly. Apparently DSFL GMs are better managers than Bowser. (S16) - Ultimus Week - IsaStarcrossed - 08-06-2019 I'm a rookie and this is my first attempt at anything like this. Be gentle please! Jokes aside let me know if anything is wrong with this and I'll edit it. Being new here, I had to rely heavily on the index to get this done because I'm not yet familiar with the teams and the players. Coming in at the end of the playoffs didn't help either, but I hope I made it satisfactory enough! Edit: Found out Falconi is in fact not a 'he'. Attempted to change all gender references to feemale! 1) Playoff Predictions The Ultimus finals has led to a match-up between two teams that are stylistically different. On one side you have a prolific air raid team led by QB A. Falconi of the Philadelphia Liberty and hiseroutstanding receiving threats across the board. On the other side, you have a ground and pound running game led by star RB S. Shady of the Arizona Outlaws and his elite offensive line. I feel like the Outlaws style matches up well against the Liberty. Philadelphia seems to have a weak interior filled with young players and average guys who struggle to plug holes. Their lone standout in the middle seems to be R. Harshaft, but he won't be able to stop this running game alone. Someone else will need to step up in the middle or Arizona's monstrous guards are going to have a field day, opening lanes you could drive buses through for Shady. That said, Falconi will also need to have a big day to get the win for Philadelphia. She's facing an above average pass rush and a secondary that has only a few holes. Falconi has enough weapons that she should be able to abuse Arizona's weaker side of the field, but this is an offense that is founded on the big play down the field. To give her receivers time to get open, Philadelphia's offensive line will have to dominate the line of scrimmage and potentially double team M. Spector who had a sack and a forced fumble a week ago. At the end of the day, I think Arizona takes this one. I think their strengths outweigh their weaknesses and it'll take a heroic effort by Falconi to give Philadelphia a chance at this one. I have the Outlaws winning 31-24. I feel like Arizona will rack up over 250 rushing yards by the end of the game, taking time and drives away from Falconi while wearing down Philadelphia's interior. It should be a slow and methodical approach by Arizona and Philadelphia will have their chances, but I don't think they'll have enough of them. 3) All about the QBs The Outlaws vs Liberty match-up has two highly touted quarterbacks competing against each other for a championship. You have Reese against Falconi and I think on paper the two match up very well as the cream of the crop in the NSFL. The two have entirely different supporting cast though, which makes the match-up harder to diagnose. Reese and the Outlaws focus much more on their elite run game, which stacks the box with defenders and gives Reese the opportunity to abuse the edges of the field. He doesn't have many elite options out there, but thanks to consistent single coverage he doesn't need them to be elite. He can pick and chose his targets off the play-action with his elite accuracy and put the ball where only they can catch it. Falconi and the Liberty on the other hand have a truly elite passing game. They have weapons all over the field with the likes of von Matt, Varga, and Brannigan. They are speedy and great down the field, allowing Falconi to show off her arm strength and really get down the field. This is an offense that relies on their elite QB to pick up chunk plays and move them quickly. Both QBs have a ton of potential and upside, but in a direct comparison I think I have to give the title to Falconi. Without Falconi, the Liberty's offense falls apart. They need her to make plays, they need her to be alert, and they need her to not turn the ball over to succeed. Reese has the advantage of a strong running game for a pressure relief valve if he has an off day or just isn't seeing openings in the secondary. Falconi has to be consistently elite for her team to succeed. 4) Head to Head Matchups In the championship game, you have an intrigue match-up between the Liberty and the Outlaws. You have L. Knight, the Outlaw's best cover man, matching up against J. von Matt, the prolific pass catcher from the Liberty. Knight has been a consistently good corner for the entirety of the season and is coming off of a rather elite game where he recorded 13 tackles and an INT. Knight's blazing speed make him uniquely fitted for covering a receiver of von Matt's caliber. He's great at making up distance and is rarely beat off the line. He may be one of the elite man to man corners in the game and this week he'll have a chance to prove it against one of the top pass catchers the NSFL has to offer. Von Matt has big play capabilities and is one of the fastest guys in the league. He has elite hands and agility, allowing him to make quick cuts in routes to create separation. He's going up against an intelligent player on the other side who may be able to read and predict him though. He comes off a game where he was able to flash his deep routes, averaging 22 yards a catch. In this game though, the longer the play develops, the more time von Matt's opposition will be able to predict his movements and possibly jump in for a clutch interception. Von Matt has the potential to runaway with this game. If he can get Knight to check up on a route or two, he could have a huge game and lead the Liberty to victory. Knight is a smart corner though and if he spend time in the film room learning von Matt's routes, he has the speed and the ability to keep this monster in check. This should be one of the more fascinating match-ups in the final game of the season and could very well be the one that decides the Ultimus champion and potential finals MVP. 19) The Big Fellas The more I look at the game of the Outlaws vs the Liberty, the more I think about the trenches and how they will impact this game. In a game that features a high powered passing game and a near elite running game, the defensive line will be more important than ever. When you look at Arizona you see a strong core with DE Marchand, DT Morris, and DE Spector and some pass rushing depth at DE. Going up against a QB like Falconi, the pass rush will be essential. They'll need their guys flying off the edge to rush Flaconi into decisions. Their opposition feasts off of big plays, always looking for those 20 yard chunks. It will be on this defensive line to not give Falconi that chance. The big guys are even more important for the Liberty. You have a big, elite offensive line with one of the better backs in the NSFL on the other side. The Outlaws feast when their run game gets going and the only thing between Shady and a big day in the championship game is this defensive line. They have a pair of good edge rushers in Philadelphia, but their interior is lack luster. Neither of the DTs on their roster really inspires fear in the opposing line. Philadelphia will need someone to step up in that line or Arizona's guards are going to have a fun day. I fully believe that Arizona's defensive line are going to have a bigger day and more overall impact. Their ability to get after the passer and force turnovers will be instrumental in a close game. That said if someone steps up, Philadelphia's line has to potential to be more impactful. The Outlaws rely on their running game and if they are forced to be one dimensional, it could change the entire outlook of this game. (S16) - Ultimus Week - pazuzu - 08-06-2019 SHL PT 1) Playoff Predictions/Review This season was very surprising for the Philadelphia Liberty. I expected us to do well, but was surprised at everything that happened. In the playoffs we came in as a wildcard team, ended up beating both the top two seeds in the NSFC; Yellowknife Wraiths in the first round, and the Chicago Butchers in Conference finals. In our first game we just beat the Wraiths 35-34. In this game I did pretty decent with 8 receptions for 48 yards and a touchdown. But our difference maker was easily Falconi who threw for just under 400 yards, and 3 touchdowns. With just over 6 minutes left in the game Nacho Varga scored the go-ahead touchdown and we were able to hold on the lead to advance. In the conference finals we were away in Chicago playing against one of the best teams in the NSFL, and we gave them everything we got. In this game I was the second leading receiver, scoring another touchdown on 7 receptions and racking up 83 yards. At halftime we were losing 20-16, but at the end of the third quarter we were a different team. Scoring 21 unanswered points to take the lead and faceoff against the Arizona Outlaws in the Ultimus Finals. Unfortunately, that is where our run stopped, but it was a well fought and extremely close game losing 34-30. 8) Strategies I do not think there are many changes the Philadelphia Liberty need, to make another appearance in for the Ultimus. However, one of the changes that they are going to address will be the retirement of my player, Zapp Brannigan. I never thought Brannigan to be too good, besides having the tightest end of course. I do not think they would have a problem finding someone to fill Zapp’s shoes, he did not have a lot of TPE so even a lower TPE tight end can make up the difference in a few seasons. Besides that, Philadelphia needs some help in the running game. Last season, the Liberty did not have a single running back finish in the top ten for rushing yards. Both Jones and Hank did finish 11th and 12th respectively, but there needs to be more of a balance to their game. If the Liberty rely too much on Falconi it can be too predictable. Recently, Philadelphia did sign Marquise Brown which should definitely help in that department, open up the passing game, and allow Vander Jones to rest a bit more too. Philadelphia is already looking threatening this season and to win a championship, and the draft just ended. They would probably be my favorites to win the Ultimus, they made some really smart moves to put them in contention. And now it is up to the sim. 9) Enemies Not many people know this but I think this is the perfect time to discuss my departure from San Jose. I usually keep these sorts of issues to myself but it has been eating me up for far too long. Joliet Christ, was the reason I left. At first, it was little things like not slapping my ass after a nice catch or touchdown, and then he refused to acknowledge how tight my ass was. That was my last straw and why I left San Jose and just want to see them lose in the most embarrassing way. Now seeing them in the playoffs again makes my blood boil. Luckily, I thought to myself, that I would not have to watch San Jose play against Arizona since we had a game. I recorded on my DVR for later. After our game I was ecstatic and saw on ESPN in the locker room the San Jose got spanked, losing 41-21. I ran home as fast as I could, so I could watch Christ’s miserable face after the game was over. I did not want to miss a single second, it was like watching my favorite movie for the first time. That is what you get Joliet for not saying my ass was tight, just admit it now. My favorite part was when Arizona intercepted Christ and returned it for a touchdown… so satisfying. <3 you AW ![]() (S16) - Ultimus Week - Opera_Phantom - 08-06-2019 1) Playoff Predictions, Reviews: The conference finals brought us two games where the teams with the worst record got through to the Ultimus Trophy game. In the NSFC conference final, Adriana Falconi led the Philadelphia Liberty to a hard-fought high scoring 47-34 win over the Chicago Butchers, while in the ASFC, the Arizona Outlaws thrashed the Orange County Otters 31-3, with Seer Zephyrous having a good day and getting offensive player of the game, courtesy of his 2 TD’s. This means that (in my obvious lack of knowledge about the game), we will have a team that relies on the passing game vs a run heavy team. The key to the game will be Liberty’s various WR, that have been doing wonders in the playoffs. Combine that with the “Falconi Power”, and there’s a recipe for a title. On the other side, the Outlaws will probably rely on their RB’s and immense OL to deal with the opponent, but I believe this game will be won in the air. I predict another high scoring game, with Falconi throwing for 4 TD’s, leading the Liberty to the Ultimus Trophy, beating the Butchers 41-31, after trailing in the first half. It will be a Final game well worthy of its name. 3) All about the QBs Adriana Falconi vs Andrew Reese, a matchup that probably no one thought it would happen on this year’s final game. Coming from pretty similar seasons attempt and completion wise, Adriana managed to lead the league with 36 TD’s, passing for 500 yards more, vs Reese’s 20 TD’s. But these stats come at a price for the Liberty QB, as she threw 15 INT, putting her on the league’s top 3 in this stat. Adriana’s good days are awesome, but when see needs to take risks, she’s way more prone to error than Reese, as the Outlaws can rely more on the running game if the passing game hits a wall. Will this mean that Reese will play it safe this Wednesday, trying to avoid sacks and the occasional INT? I don’t think so, I believe he’ll try to shine and lead his team to victory, but he’ll face some problems, especially in the second half, leading him to use his RB’s more and more. But Adriana, being one of the S16 league MVPs will deal with the pressure of the big game better, and will lead the team to the win. But, to be fair, we have to consider that, even though he will lose the Ultimus Cup, Reese will show that his team can trust him to be the captain of the ship. (S16) - Ultimus Week - Beebob - 08-06-2019 1) Playoff Predictions, Reviews: Written: Give a short write up of one or multiple playoff matches. If completed before the airing of the sims have predictions, after if it is a review of the game. With the Ultimus being tomorrow, Season 16 will come to a close with two underdogs (a second and third seed respectively) battling it out for the Ultimus. Starting with the second seed, the Arizona Outlaws. The Outlaws certainly have the advantage defensively, having held quite possibly the strongest passing attack in the league, to just 3 points. Though on the flipside the Outlaws offense has been lacking, though the increasing prevalence of Seer Zephyrous in the running game seems to have ignited a spark within the once average Arizona offense. Moving on to the 3rd seed, the Philadelphia Liberty. The Liberty are very different from the defense-heavy Outlaws, having one of the best offense's in the league that seen a new growth like the Outlaws due to Vander Jone's presence in the passing game catching over 75 yards in each of the last 4 games including playoffs. And while defensively the front 7 of the Liberty is not the greatest, the Liberty have a great secondary with very aggressive corners and safety's. Though I may be a bit biased I see Philadelphia taking the win over Arizona 14-13 . As while the defense of Arizona is very strong, I don't see them preventing the passing attack of Falconi and Co. 3) All about the QBs Written: Write 200 words on one of the QB matchups in this year's playoffs. What are you most excited to see (Or excited to have seen), who will play better (Or who played better), etc. The season finale of Season 16 brings together two similar quarterbacks with very different surrounding rosters, Falconi v Reese. Starting with Adriana Falconi, who has put up near MVP numbers finishing the Season with 36 TDs and 3,693 yards but her 15 Ints ended up killing her MVP chances. Too has her surrounding roster been near elite with Zapp Brannigan in his final year being partnered with Jordon von Matt and Nacho Varga. Though the person I believe will be most impactful in Falconi's receiving core is also the person with the most non-QB Touchdown. I believe it will truly come down to if the Arizona defense can manage to stop the Vander Jones passing attack. On the other side Andrew Reese had put of moderate numbers with 20 TD and 3173 yards though these numbers match the playstyle of Arizona being very run-heavy, controlling the clock in process and waiting for the opponent to make a mistake to then to capitalize. And while Reese may not have a elite receiving core like Falconi, he can still manage with short passes. As said before this will be an close and likely defensive showdown but I believe it comes down to if the Outlaws can stop Jones. 4) Head to Head Matchups Written: Write about two offensive and defensive players that will go against each other in the playoffs or who have faced off in the playoffs, can be DL/QB, WR/CB, RB/LB or whatever matchup you see fit. Vander Jones Vs. Arizona Secondary As mentioned before Vander Jones success in the passing game will be necessary for Philadelphia in order to take home the Ultimus. Looking back at the past two playoffs games victory hinged on the success of Jones. First, Philadelphia at Yellowknife: Jones was spectacular against Yellowknife gaining 164 yards in 9 catches over the air including a long 51 bomb to put Philadelphia in scoring position not to mention even picking up two rushing touchdowns as well. Second, Philadelphia at Chicago: In the Championship game of the playoff Jones slowed down a bit but still put up an impressive 113 yards in 7 catches his longest catch being an 43 yard catch and run to put Philadelphia in position for an key field goal. Looking at Arizona's secondary consisting of players like cornerback Knight and Safety Barnes it will be very difficult for Jones to find a hole to use as evidenced by the last time these two teams met as Jones was 85 yards in 7 catches which is still impressive but nowhere near the past two weeks especially considering he had no catches for 30+ yards which is key for getting into scoring position. In conclusion, Philadelphia needs those 30-50 yard passes from any receiver, only that it's most likely that Jones will be the key receiver racking these catches in. (S16) - Ultimus Week - youngcricket - 08-06-2019 1) Here is my prediction for the championship game, and it is pretty bold. The Arizona Outlaws defeat the Philadelphia Liberty and win the Ultimus. I know nobody thinks its that bold, but I firmly believe that it is bold because right now the Liberty are in the midst of a very rare task. They have won two road games in a row against two very good teams to end up in the position that they are now in. It is an impressive feat and even though I don't usually pay attention to what happens, I haven't ever seen this happen before. Good thing we let so many teams make the playoffs. I believe the Outlaws will win because of our stout defense. We have arguably the best linebacker in the league in Raymond Vans and I am right there beside him to clean up any mess that he can't. We just held the incredible Orange County Otters' offense to three point in the conference championship. This will bode well for us going into the championship game. Our offense was also able to put up 31 point on their defense as well so I feel confident that we will keep rolling and do our thing. Or maybe not lol. 3) QB matchup ok here is the thing there is only one game left and I have to choose between Falconi and Reese. I wanted to say that Reese was the better quarterback, but right now it is Falconi. I'm not proud to say that and it hurts, but you also have to look at what each quarterback is going against when it comes to this championship game. I believe that Reese will be facing a worse defense than Falconi will. I believe the Arizona Outlaws' defense is much better than the Philadelphia Liberty's defense. I also think Reese has younger weapons which leads to him having to bear a bit more of the load for the Outlaws, but they have been stepping up recently which has allowed his play to skyrocket. I think that Reese has the advantage because of this and the fact that Brock Landers is just a bonafide beast. I honestly don't pay attention that much during the season so I don't know if he's even played well, bu I assume that he is hte best receiver on the team and ready to will the team to a win. I don't see anybody that can stop the Outlaws so I will say that Reese will be the better QB. 5) For the S15 class I will talk about my friend and my teammate Brock Landers. I don't care what anybody says about the pick or how it should've been used on another player, Landers has turned into a bonafide superstar on the outside. He just had a season where he surpassed 1000 yards and don't forget that it was only his second season. He was also able to frequently able to find the endzone for the outlaws. Everything about this guy screams superstar and clutch performance coming. Being in the locker room with him, I am able to see how much he cares about our team being in prime position to win and him grinding his butt off to get us there. I'm pretty ure we took Landers number one overall, which appears to have been an incredible move for the franchise. He has since moved into a leadership role on the team while continuing to perform at a high level on the field. I knew he would be good, but I didn't really expect him to be this good this quickly. He has done an extraordinary job of getting the team rallied and his draft class to keep on updating. I think he will heavily impact the championship game. 6) Here is why it is our time, we have already made it this far. We have one game left and it is against the Philadelphia Liberty and I believe that we are going to win that game. We have had a very special season after being in the absolute gutter as of two seasons ago. We had some pieces taken from us in the expansion draft. I didn't think this would be our season even as recently as the beginning of the post season, but I do know that we have some type of chance based on what we have done so far. I am very pleased with our perforamnce. We have had some really oddly good performances this season. Second season WR Brock Landers had an incredible season. Raymond Vans kind of came out of nowhere and absolute balled out. We are a really good team that are in the playoffs and making big plays at the right time. I just think it is not a coincidence that we have gone on a run like this with the type of performances we have had. Maybe I'm a dreamer or maybe we will win. But I think we will be the champs. (S16) - Ultimus Week - JKortesi81 - 08-07-2019 First Task - SHL PT *fixed due to @Bigred1580 's lies and misdirections Task 1 – Playoff Prediction In what has to be the most unlikely Ultimus matchup to date, the Philadelphia Liberty are taking on the Arizona Outlaws. I don’t think many people had this prediction down on paper, but here we stand, as the contenders like Orange County and Chicago are sitting on the sidelines. So the real question now is, who will win? Well, the Outlaws and Liberty faced off once this season, and Arizona took home a 37-24 victory. In that game, Falconi threw two bad interceptions and the Outlaws pounced on the opportunities. Granted, Arizona did have home field advantage in that game. Overall, I foresee a different outcome this time around. Over the course of the season, Arizona and Philadelphia both had pretty even defenses. Arizona only allowed 273 points, whereas Philly allowed 306. However, the Liberty did have to play harder teams within the divsions. Where the real difference is, is on the offense. The Outlaws could only muster 297 total points this season, only outpacing the dismal Yeti and the even worse Copperheads. The Liberty racked up 397 points, good for third in the league. Quite frankly, I don’t think Arizona is going to be able to score enough to keep up with Philadelphia this time around, and the Liberty should be walking out of the season with another Ultimus victory. (221) Task 3: The obvious answer to the “What QB matchup in the playoffs am I most excited to see?” question is definitely the Ultimus matchup between Philadelphia Liberty QB Adriani Falconi and Arizona Outlaws QB Andrew Reese. Both QBs are a bit of unlikely entrants into the Ultimus, and how they got here is pretty impressive. Reese just helped Arizona beat the favored Orange County Otters and Falconi helped the Liberty defeat not only the 10-3 Yellowknife Wraiths but also the 10-3 Chicago Butchers. Philadelphia feels like a team of destiny, and Falconi is a big reason why. In their lone matchup in the regular season, Arizona won 37-24. Falconi had an off game that day, throwing 2 interceptions along with her two touchdowns. She got to 290 yards on the day, but had an awful 64.2 rating. Reese, meanwhile, may have only had 185 yards that day, but he threw for 4 touchdowns and had an 118.1 rating. This game feels like an anomaly however, as during the season Falconi threw for 500 more yards, 16 more touchdowns, and had a 15 point higher rating than Reese did. So it begs the question for the Ultimus: Does Reese just have Falconi’s number, or did Arizona just get lucky? It’s incredibly intriguing to find out, and that’s why this is the best QB matchup of this year’s playoffs. (228) Task 7 – Next Year Okay, I get it. The Austin Copperheads were the laughing stock of the league this season. We went 0 for 13. It was awful, I agree. But, we knew that was what was going to happen. We didn’t sugar coat it for anyone. Our plan was never to be Ultimus contenders right away. What we have right now is a dedicated, bad ass core of people in the locker room who are doing everything they can to get each and every bit of TPE they can get their hands on. And now, we sit with not only our first overall pick, but we also have the 8th and 11th picks in the draft. We can even get a good player with pick 21 and maybe at 25! We’re going to be active in free agency as well. What we want are good locker room people who can eat up TPE with us, and grow with us. We’ll all be hitting our peaks together at this point, and once that happens, we’ll be a dominant force in the NSFL. No, it won’t be next year. But we’ll get some wins this next season, and the season after that. And if this playoffs have shown us anything, all you need is a chance and you can make the Ultimus. We’ll be competing for that in S19 and beyond. (226) (S16) - Ultimus Week - Lowlycrib - 08-07-2019 15. Jeffrey Murphy, who is the running back for the Ultimas winning Arizone Outlaws put on a show for all to see on the biggest stage. His explosive day included eight catches for 120 yards with three touchdowns as well. These touchdowns were able to put the Outlaws over the hump and to secure the victory. Jeffrey Murphy put the team on his back and the team rewarded his effort by carrying him off the field into the locker rooms where Murphy was allowed to drink champagne from the trophy first. One can imagine that during all the championship parades throughout Arizona that he will be front and centre. After all the team parties and media commitments that come with winning a championship one can imagine that Jeffrey Murphy will try to relax and prepare for next season. Although Disneyland appears like the obvious choice it has become overplayed. A possible choice for Murphy to truly celebrate this Ultimas and MVP award would be in the amusement park Wild West City to truly celebrate like an Outlaw. Lastly, if Jeffrey Murphy wants to build upon on this widely successful season he must not party too hard and forget about training because an Ultimas hangover is possible but who truly cares since they won it all. (214 words) 9. Although many league members would be expecting me to write a rant about Brayden Ennis in this write-up i just can't do it. Tyron Brackenridge's true number one enemy would be Takeda Okura because of the positional similarity and the trash talk that has come from Okura. Another factor that plays into this rivalry would be the fact that Tyrom had also been a member of the Marshals, which Okura was drafted to in the DSFL draft. Although Takeda has Tyron beat in speed barely that is about it because the rest of the important attributes belong to Tyron. Takeda was able to get more tackles due to his speed during the season Tyron garnered more sacks, picks, and pass defenses. My prediction for his stats in playoffs before checking the index would be four tackles and no other important stats. After reviewing it appears i was clearly far off as he got eight tackles and a sack in a losing effort to Tijuana. Tyron on the other hand only had five tackles and a sack in a losing effort to Portland. If both of these players can remain active it will be interesting who can stake a claim to the best safety from the season seventeen draft, which will only motivate Tyron Brackenridge even more (216 words) 4. The Kansas City Coyotes vs the Portland Pythons was slated to be an exciting game after their previous bouts in the regular season. The end result was 23-13 for the Portland Pythons as they went on to win the game. Portland was the obvious favorite in this matchup as their team is much faster than the Coyotes and that showed all throughout the match. The real standout for the Pythons was their quarterback Armstrong and for the Coyotes turned out the be their runningback Quick. Armstrong stats came primarily for the sheer volume he had with 44 attempts for 235 yards with an interception and a touchdown. Quick on the otherhand shared the workload with both of the Coyotes runningbacks getting over 100 yards but Quick had some crucial runs throughout the game. The most exciting play of the game was a 58 yard TD run by Octavius Godspeed to tie the game at 13-13 before going into the 4th quarter. Waiver wire pickup Charlie Day performed well for the Coyotes by nailing 2 field goals and an extra point. Defensively Tyron Brackenridge was a stand out with his 5 tackles and a sack. Although the game was tight throughout the 10 points scored in the 4th was the back breaker for the Coyotes as a field goal by Kicky Bobby and a short TD capped off the exciting night. (230 words) 3. The NSFC matchup turned out to be the best matchup between two high end quarterbacks. The underdog Liberty faced the overwhelming favorites that were the Butchers. Falconi that has been there and done it before was ip against the up and coming rookie Jenkins that had proven himself thus far throughout the regular season. One could not have predicted such an offensive performance but these two titans provided lots of offense in one of the most exciting games of the Season sixteen playoffs. Although the Butchers appeared to have control of the game through the first half Falconi rallied the troops and engineered three touchdown drives to help carry the Liberty to a victory. Looking at the statistical aspects between the two it is clear that Falconi remained composed and that the pressure got to Jenkins. Falconi's night included 332 yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 interception, and an overall passer rating of 98. Jenkins on the other hand was slightly less impressive with 233 yards, 3 touchdowns, 3 interceptions, and a passer rating of 79. Had Jenkins not thrown those interceptions this game could've been tighter and a match for the ages with two quarterbacks have a stellar game but for Jenkins to only be a rookie and have this much success one can expect great things in the future (219 words) (S16) - Ultimus Week - Mooty99 - 08-07-2019 5) Spotlight on Youth (S15 edition) The player that I would like to put a spotlight on is Lucas Knight who is already the top cornerback on the Arizona Outlaws' roster despite being a season 15 rookie. One of the reasons that I am focusing on Knight is due to how amazing dominant he was in the ASFC Championship game. Arizona were facing the top offensive team in the Orange County Otters and were considered to be heavy underdogs. Orange County have a terrific offensive triplet team in quarterback Showbiz and his 2 wide receivers Sunnycursed and Valentine (I should know considering that Showbiz and Valentine have REALLY helped my fantasy team this year). The Arizona defense led largely by Knight managed to hold the offensive behemoth that is Orange County to just a field goal. Knight played out his skin in this match he got an important interception of Showbiz in the 3rd quarter, had 2 pass break ups and recorded a massive 13 tackles (the most in the match). Considering the veteran players he was facing (with each of the Orange County Triplets having a combined TPE of over 3000) this was an amazing result. If Knight is able to continue this amazing play against the exceptional veterans Von Matt and Falconi of the Philadelphia Liberty then he will put his team in a great position to lift the Ultimus on Friday night. (WC 229) 7) Next year Now this year was certainly not the year for one of the league's newest teams in the Austin Copperheads, but us in the locker room were very much aware of this fact. We lost all 13 matches but there is a glimmer of hope, the lose again the Colorado Yeti's in week 11 meant that we cemented our place at the bottom and gained the number 1 overall draft pick. Our GMs did a great job wheeling and dealing picks last year meaning that we picked up 4 very good active players in Cole, Mendonca, Lason and Lavell. When you consider that we have the 1st, 8th, 11th, 21st and 25th pick this year as well we will continue to massively improve our very young and active team. With all this in mind we will improve next year, but probably not enough to win the Ultimus, it will be season 18 that you will need to watch out for the Austin Copperheads. By this point our offensive and defense will be fast on their way to becoming superstars, and it is not just season 18 that you will have to watch for us, from that point on with our very young team we will be looking to dominate at least the next 5 seasons. So while people this year have joked about the winless Copperheads, let them joke, the aging teams will wither and struggle and we will, like a snake you might say! (WC 244) 8) Strategies As I have already discussed when looking at the Copperheads next year we are playing the long game. We have a very young team, that hurt us this year but it means that we are only going to get stronger. As a team we have nearly the most active players, our oldest active player is Dick Wizardry who is a season 12 player and the rest of active players from season 14 to 16 and a boat load of draft picks to play with this season to boot. The Copperheads are playing the long game and it is all going to plan so far. As far as strategies the most important thing for us to fill in the holes in our defense. This is already helped with Dick Wizardry set to move to defensive tackle next season however we still have the need for more players. Currently we have 1 active defensive tackle, defensive end, linebacker, safety and cornerback so our first job will be to double this bringing in another player to pair with our existing ones at each of these positions (lucky for us this years draft class in deep and defensive!) Other than defence a second running back in the offensive to complement Mendonca and the team will be set for years to come. (WC 217) 20) Let’s get Wild!(card) My prediction to win it all was the Yellowknife Wraiths however their season has not been in any way as dominant as impact and then they went and lost to the Philadelphia Liberty. I then put my backing to the Chicago Butchers who stormed into the off season on top and undefeated at home, until they were roundly beaten by Philadelphia as well. With both these results in mind and that U predicted Philadelphia to come 4th in their group at the start of the season I can only now back Philadelphia to keep defining my predictions and win it all at the Ultimus tonight. Philadelphia has a number of aging but talented players so their window for getting that sparkly Ultimus ring is closing rapidly, tight end Branigan is retiring at the end of the season and the lethal pair of Von Matt and Falconi have only got one or 2 more seasons left before they too will end up heading for the door. These 3 offensive players along with Jones, Varga and Hank mean that Philadelphia has a nice looking offense that should be able to vary their players enough to keep the Arizona defence guess about what is coming next. Philadelphia also has a really mean looking secondary with Garrent, D'Attoria and Emoji who should be able to keep the Arizona passing game in check. (WC 228) |
