(S17) - PT1 - Opening Day! - soppychico - 08-26-2019 ![]() ![]() ![]() My first season in the NSFL is about to start and I'm really pumped to see a bunch of blips move around a screen. I am slowly gaining an idea of what I'm supposed to be doing and its been really fun. I am not doubting that every team is full of awesome people, but I'm also not sure if I could have been drafted by a better team in the DSFL. The San Antonio Marshals is full of great dudes, especially at the top. Shadyshoelace and Duilio05 have made it a lot less confusing of a process for me. (because i'm dumb). But just like I'm excited to watch my Saints really soon, I'm really excited to follow our team and already have emotional attachment. lol. We're undefeated right now and I'm confident we'll be undefeated at the end. Steco Ocewilder has his eyes set on the Hall of Fame. Great things from small beginnings. #MarshalUp. As for the Saints, anything less than a trip to the Superbowl is going to be a disappointment! We've had two heartbreaking post-season exits in a row. 100% bias, but I think the Saints roster is the best with the talent and there's really a lot of depth. Sean Payton has said that Kamara is going to get about the same touches as last year, even with Ingram gone now. I think thats probably a smart plan, but really hope he gets more. I think Kamara is a top 3 running back. Hes so fast n light, hes a bruiser, and hes basically a wide receiver. And then theres Michael Thomas who just catches everything, you can't guard that man. The offensive line is good especially if the rookie center plays well. And the defensive line should be even better than last year. Drew Brees slowed down a lil at the end of last season but a slowed down Breesus is still an elite QB. I don't believe he has reached the cliff yet. I can't deny my love for Taysom Hill and Teddy Bridgewater. The roster gives me some confidence that we're built to win now and in the future. Sport betting is now legal in my state and its been a tiny tradition to spend a couple games at the casino with my brothers and pals. Gambling makes everything more fun! For college, I've been a lifelong Auburn Tigers fan. It kinda sucks having to deal with Alabama every year but it's always fun being the underdog. I follow college a lot less than the NFL so putting bias aside, I gotta say Auburn is probably going to win the National Championship this year. Put your bets in now, boys. (S17) - PT1 - Opening Day! - Rising Equinox - 08-26-2019 I would have to say that my favorite thing about the start of a new season is actually the unknown factor going into it. Just like any sport, people make predictions all the time, before the season, during the season, and after the season. It's just part of the game. But, it's really the unpredictable element that's really exciting. You might predict the Outlaws to win the ASFC and go all the way to the Ultimus, but they just so happen to lose that one completely random road game to the Copperheads. Now, the division is completely up in the air, and the Otters end up going all the way and winning the Ultimus. Anything could happen going into a new season, which is really exciting and also scary at the same time, because the sim will go out of its way to screw you over lol. I'm also really excited to see my improvement from last season compared to this one. I had an above average rookie season for a player in my position, in my opinion. I was actually one of the top defensive players in the league last season, and I want to see if I continue at that level of success, or if that one season was just an outlier that won't happen again. I'm also excited to see if the Otters can make it to the Ultimus this season. It was within reach of us last season, but it slipped right through our fingers. I think we have a good chance to make it this time! (S17) - PT1 - Opening Day! - ddrector - 08-26-2019 As a fan of the NFL opening week is always extremely exciting for many reasons. At that point there is hope at some level for every team. Many teams think they have a shot at the Superbowl. As a Panthers fan I definitely have felt like my team has a shot for the past few years. We play in a tough division, but I think the Panthers have the talent on both sides of the ball to compete with anyone. As long as Cam Newton is healthy that is. I'm excited because Ron Rivera has taken full control of the defense and it is completely revamped with new additions like Gerald McCoy and rookie Brian Burns. The sacks will hopefully flow in abundance. The other things that are exciting about the season starting all revolve around fantasy football for me. I've been playing for a long time, and it is always exciting to see how the players you drafted do opening game. As for college football, I'm an NC State fan. We are usually a decent team, but not an elite playoff contender. Clemson always beats us and we usually lose one or two other games usually at least one to a team we should definitely beat. This year we have a new QB, so that's scary but exciting. Hopefully we finally take down Clemson one of these years, but I doubt it'll happen in the Trevor Lawrence era. More importantly this is my first DSFL season as a player and it is extremely exciting. I can't wait to see how the Seawolves do in their opening two games tomorrow night. I'm excited to see how this defense performs as well as the Seawolves running game lead by the queen herself. I have no idea how my player will do personally. I've only really updated his speed, so hopefully that will be enough to break up some passes. (S17) - PT1 - Opening Day! - BroicSilence - 08-26-2019 I see all these posts full of optimism about opening day and I can't help but think of the most memorable opening day in my life, September 5th, 2013. My Ravens had just won another Super Bowl, giving Ed Reed the ring he needed to solidify his legacy and Ray the perfect opportunity to ride off into the sunset. Morale was high for Ravens fans all of the following summer. Sure Kruger and Ellerbe left in free agency but, like most defensive players who leave the Ravens, they would certainly suck on their new teams. Yes, Ed and Ray were gone too but they were so old they hadn't actually produced much on the field compared to some of our other players. And fine, Boldin wasn't on the team anymore but at least we traded him for...a sixth round pick?! Uh oh. Wearing my black Torrey Smith jersey and armed with a six pack of beer, I was beyond excited for the first game of the season. And we got destroyed. Utterly. Peyton threw six touchdowns. In the second quarter Jacoby Jones, our hero of the playoffs, was injured while calling for a fair catch on the punt. Some Ravens special teamer ran into him. It was one of those moments that perfectly illustrated the emotions I was experiencing at that time. So opening day isn't about optimism or dread for me. It's about the simple joy of cracking open a beer and enjoying the sport I have been craving for several long months. And, whether that means a championship or a complete disaster, well that's just the way she goes. I am very excited since it's my first experience with any kind of thing like this and learning the process so far been a blast! Everything has been subpar from creating a character to adjusting the TPE and finally 2 more days and I get to see this experience in action as the first DSFL game is finally on it's way! It will be a great experience to see my player on the feild in that purple color surrounded by the coyotes amazing draft class. Finally we get to be in action and surely I think the first showing of them coyotes will be great both offense and defense filled with amazing talent and active players! Win or Lose I think these games will be great to watch so far I only watched the prospect bowl but with everyone's adjusted TPE I think it will be a little more exciting plus I finally got my speed up to 80 so I cant wait to see how that looks. Hoping for some big boy tackles out there from Net and Co. Anyways just excited to see DSFL games in general hoping everybody has a good showing and hope the s18 rookies class can shine! (S17) - PT1 - Opening Day! - Modern_Duke - 08-26-2019 The start of the NSFL season is pretty exciting for me, even though I'm not in the big leagues yet. If you haven't heard, fantasy football is a big deal nowadays. I am a huge football fan, but I haven't played fantasy football in years. The problem for me is that is that, oddly enough, fantasy football is too real. Since you're playing with real players, you're rooting for real consequences. This is a problem for me, because as odd as it may seem, I would rather watch a meaningless game (let's say a Jaguars-Titans Thursday Night game) with no particular rooting interest than be worried about how many yards Derrick Henry can pile up. It adds stress to a fun thing. But anyway I'm not here to trash fantasy football. What I'm trying to get at is that I think the NSFL has been scratching an itch that fantasy football does for others. Something tangentially related to football that isn't related to living and dying with my beloved Jets every Sunday. In a more general sense, starting any new season (real, fake, football or any other sport) is always exciting. It's cliche, but everyone is 0-0 and can dream of winning it all, no matter how unlikely that is in reality. On a completely unrelated note: Go Jets. (S17) - PT1 - Opening Day! - Leafs4ever - 08-26-2019 I love the lead up to the beginning of a new football season. Since football has the longest off-season out of the big 4 sports, the wait and anticipation drag on. After an especially long off-season because of expansion, this wait has been brutal, but we're finally ready to get rolling. My favourite thing about the season starting is getting back into the locker room every day with my teammates. The off-season is a great way to see your family and friends, but being back with your teammates is something I always treasure. I also love the beginning of football season because that's probably the only time you really feel healthy and fresh. The off-season is great to rest and rehab any injuries you have and you never feel better than when it finishes up. You feel like you can do anything on the field and just want to get out there and show your stuff. As for opening day, this season it's against our rivals Orange County. That just lights an even bigger fire under you, starting the season with a heated matchup like that. You always want to start the season off strong, but being able to do that and make your rival start off with a loss is even more excitement. Football is finally back and I'm ready! (221 words) (S17) - PT1 - Opening Day! - goodfortunecoffee - 08-26-2019 Ahhh opening day! The beginning of a new season, everyone oh and oh. Everyone tied for first place. It's a beautiful time. You think you know how the season is gonna play out, but week 1 always throws those curveballs that change the entire landscape. Could be a devastating season-ending injury to a star player, could be a breakout performance from an otherwise unknown player. Fuzzy was a Cardinals fan back in the day. So that means opening day was a Sunday, not a Thursday as it is now. Seeing as how it is technically 2032 and Fuzzy was born in 2010 or something, 6 years or so after the first TNF opening game, this makes absolutely no sense. But really that doesn't matter. Fuzzy still remembers when his Cardinals play the Bengals opening week, garnered a double-digit lead, only to lose in overtime because of Leeland McElroy fumble lost. What hurt the most was that the ground clearly caused the fumble upon watching the replay, but guess what kids? Replay didn't exist back then, so Fuzzy just sat there dumbfounded, befuddled and quite pee ode about the whole thing. But he's since moved on, put it past him. Things are better now. Fuzzy used to spend the night before the opening Sunday up late play NFL QB Club and drinking sugary kool-aid and eagerly playing every week 1 game to predict what the final result would be. He'd only get maybe 6.5 games in or so before he would pass out from exhaustion and dream of one day playing in an opening week game and being that breakout player. |
