If we find that more users favor real colleges compared to fictional ones, then we definitely will go with it. Also second the use of Gators. Defering draft class - .Laser - 10-11-2019 If you're wanting to have a true college feel, that would likely require the league to go to a 4-season college career with an option to enter after junior year and an option to redshirt. That's never gonna happen, imo. Maybe further down the line with the addition of the S21 and S24 classes we would have enough players, but as of right now I just don't see a way to put this into effect without turning the league on it's head. I personally enjoy the idea of a 3-4 season college career but I don't think it's feasible with the number of players in the league unless we change several other rules, such as retirement and recreate limitations, just to name two. I think the idea behind this has always been to have it similar to the NBA where you only need to spend 1 year in the lower league. We aren't going to be able to recreate college football completely, but give it enough flavor where people have the choice of going the full college route. Defering draft class - TeyonSchavari - 10-11-2019 I'm also against the use of real colleges - I feel like having a college before joining this league really helps to add a unique background to each player. Having our own team branding makes this league feel like its own thing separate from reality and thats one of the things I love about it. I understand not everyone would be offended if their favorite school isn't there, but some would and I would rather not have only 6-8 schools to choose from based on an arbitrary HO decision (especially since most of em love Nebraska, yuck), and if we rotate through different schools to appease people it would be pointless to have any team history. Along with this, it wouldn't even really be a 'college' experience, its still just a minor league and making it seem like college would be disingenuous to what it actually is. Lesser point, but I also have no idea if we can even legally use branding of these schools without their consent. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk Defering draft class - ScorpXCracker - 10-11-2019 getting rid of the dsfl team names would be horrible. Make it Tijauna Luchadores University like that. Defering draft class - 37thchamber - 10-11-2019 Not sure I see the benefit here tbh. For the player, they get fewer NSFL seasons and regress at the same time as they would have anyway. For admin purposes, it complicates things like tracking what season a player regresses in (which has knock on effects elsewhere). And if a player wanted to play DSFL for longer, they can just ask to be sent back down anyway... Am I missing something? No, this is even worse. Defering draft class - RainDelay - 10-11-2019 Also if we’re trying so hard to move away from using real team logos, why do we have the Connecticut Defenders as a DSFL team? |
