(S18) - PT1 - Defense wins Championships! - Rising Equinox - 10-14-2019 As a linebacker, I've been waiting for a PT just like this, so I could have to chance to talk about myself ??? and my teammates of course. One huge thing about the Otters defense, that I find very interesting, is that it seems like people underestimate how good our defense really is. This may or may not surprise you, but the Otters actually have the second most defensive TPE in the league on their roster, behind only the Wraiths. The Otters have actually had an amazing defensive minded strategy the past few seasons, picking up several big name players through the draft and free agency. This defensive roster is full of talent, young and old. The Otters defense actually has exactly 41 sacks in each of the past three seasons. This is a team that can get after the QB, and they can and have done it consistently for several seasons, and there's no reason for that not to continue. Also, if you look at the Otters defensive turnovers, dating back to the huge S15 draft season, the Otters have been forcing more and more turnovers each and every season. This defense, lead by players such as Lanzer Grievous, Thorian Skarsgard, David Ginsberg, AJ Lattimer, newly acquired free agent Jaylen Storm, Dan Schneider and several more veterans and up-and-coming young talents, makes this one of the most dangerous defenses in the NSFL. The 1st thing to look at is its age. It is super young and with the exception of 1 player (who is also a max TPE earner) is not going to regress for a long time. If we are able to keep this young active defence together in a couple of years it is going to terrorise people, this is especially true of the back field who are a little young at the moment but I have full belief that they will become awesome. One part of the defence is awesome already and that is the D line. I predict now that our D line will pick up the most sacks of any D line in the league. It is an hour by Wizardry and Kuusela (the fact Kuusela did not get d-lineman of the year despite being the league sack leader was robbery). They have now been joined by trade superstar Ennis and draft pick JCB to make a line that opposing quarterback with have nightmares about. Lastly I can't not mention our linebackers, Edmond had an amazing rookie season and Bakshi is a rock, both these guys will take new boy Gaines under there wings to make a mega line backing team! WC 212 (S18) - PT1 - Defense wins Championships! - BroicSilence - 10-15-2019 I could go on and on about the defense of the team that drafted me. Orange County has the second most defensive TPE and is likely going to outperform every other defense except for perhaps Yellowknife. They have huge names and were able to patch holes with high-earning rookies. There isn’t much not to like. So instead of adding another voice to the Otter hype, I will discuss the defense I will actually be playing for this season. Due to the Otters already being stacked at linebacker for the season, I am being sent down to play for the first team that drafted me - the illustrious Norfolk SeaWolves. Those that follow the DSFL might know that the Norfolk defense was the worst in the league last season by both yardage and scoring. Despite this, there was still a good amount of talent for a DSFL team. This included two-time number one pick Bjorn Ironside and massive draft bargain David Rector. However, those two players are gone. In fact, everyone is gone. Everyone except me: Marlo Smart. Can a single linebacker capped at 250 TPE elevate a team full of inactive defensive players and one rookie who might be active? Probably not. But this linebacker happens to be the reigning DSFL Linebacker of the Year, Defensive Rookie of the Year, and tackle leader. In fact last season that linebacker had the third most tackles in a single DSFL in history. So while I may not exactly be able to anchor a DSFL-best defense, I will be doing my part to tackle as many players as possible. And, if nothing else, it will be really interesting to see how it goes. (S18) - PT1 - Defense wins Championships! - goodvsevil1275 - 10-15-2019 Let me tell you, I don't want to talk defense at all. For me, the best defense is a dropped pass. With the Pythons, we have one very good player and one very bad player. Kacey Dream, our shiny new corner back, is back to being active and will shine as our top corner this season as he develops. Replacing Mervin Leonard won't be an easy task but Dream is already on the right track by buying equipment and dumping his TPE into speed. He's being smart with his build which will be important for our team success. On the other hand, Saba and Huskies have no idea what they're doing. These dudes had the whole draft in front of them and drafted some loser named Willie B. Hardagain. I tell ya what, this guy has been an absolute cancer in the locker room. I can't believe he is my middle line backer. I almost want to be traded because of this pick. I thought the Pythons were trying to win and then they picked this bum who can't even finish his Ultimus Week point tasks. At any rate, the Pythons D should be average at worst. We don't have a defensive line so we're gonna roll out like 8 corner backs every play. It should be very exciting. No matter how you spin it, a loss is a loss, but take to examine the loss under a microscope, shows the final score to be much more interesting than initially viewed. What really was the key of this game? Splash plays. San Jose had a total 154 more yards than the Yellowknife Wraiths, more passing, more rushing yards, and roughly 13 more minutes in time of possession. But we aren’t here to talk about offense. San Jose’s sleeper defense will prove to be a problem for opposing teams moving forward. Their two rookie safeties did not appear to make it on the field, these two are bringing speed to the defensive side. As the season progresses and these two are thrown into different defensive looks, we will be seeing more passes deflected and balls intercepted. What is this going to do to remedy the first week mishap? SaberCat Splash plays. Rookies Wozniak and Grimnir will add a new dimension to an already strong backfield. Expect to see these new guns thrown in as nickel backers and dime backers throughout the season. Make sure not to forget that these two already have the ability to take over for the current starting corners. |
