Sean O'Leary loves Christmas. Easily his favorite time of the year. Now it isn't because of the gifts, but the atmosphere that it brings. Sean O'Leary loves the cold as his parents are originally from Minnesota, but he was born and raised in California. So the heat here can really bother him. But when he gets to go back to Minnesota to see his family for Christmas, it is perfect. Snow and the jolly cheer of everyone. Some hot beverage (hot chocolate or apple cider), wrapped up in a blanket and watching something on tv or reading a book. All the fun of relaxing and being with family. Lots and lots of food. There is something so calming for him during this holiday.

It also helps being a professional football player where the pay isn't too bad. He never tries to buy super expensive gifts to flaunt his money, but rather buy things everyone in his family needs and an extra gift that is for fun. That way the reason and importance of giving during Christmas stays true to what it is supposed to be. Gift giving in his house hold has always been a part of Christmas, but never the main attraction. It's about family and sharing the Joy's of life together.

The holiday season, the so-called most wonderful time of the year, where everyone exchanges gifts and the little ones get toys or some coal for being a naughty person during that year. Leaf takes his celebrations to the next level, and oh boy, he does a ton of crazy stuff this time of year. First, he literally makes kids think Santa is real by flying one of his leaf-cola Jets, disguised as Santa and his reindeer flying through the air, complete with Ho Ho ho’s and Christmas Carols sound effects. To make things bizarre, he actually runs a dog sled up to his former city of Yellowknife and his face disguised of that of BigRed, and a Santa outfit to deliver the children their toys, to bring joy through the city, until that fake Santa attacks Cooter, revealing the imposter who tried to make the town feel sorry for trading him to a team that’s climbing up the ladder despite only being in the first step of a rebuild. The last think he does and perhaps his most bizarre move, is that he holds a Sushi/Seafood dinner at the chopping block completed with music for all, with all the proceeds and the money going to children’s hospital’s where they’d pay leaf to do stupid stuff for charity.

Baby Yoda is excited for Christmas. He gets to drink Hot Chocolate and eat frosted cookies. He also enjoys spending the season with family and friends. It is hard for many of his family to travel from Dagobah and they don't have wi-fi there, so he can't talk to them, but they do send letters wishing him and his relatives in the USA a happy holidays. In Dagobah, they don't have Christmas, but they do celebrate a holiday that loosely translates to "Life Day". The Yodas have acclimated to life in the USA and celebrate both Christmas and Life Day as a way to honor their heritage and embrace their new life in the USA.

Christmas is also a time of giving and receiving gifts. Yoda loves receiving gifts, of course, but he also loves giving them. His new DSFL contract has allowed him to buy gifts for all of his family and also send gifts back to his family in Dagobah, which he hopes will arrive in time for Life Day... or perhaps at least arrive at all. The postal system in Dagobah is not known for its accuracy. Regardless, it has been a very happy holiday so far and Yoda is thankful for his new job as a Portland Python.

Immanuel Blackstone didn't grow up celebrating Christmas as he was raised as (and continues to be) a devout Muslim. Blackstone has always been steeped in the cultural celebration of Christmas in the United States, however, as his parents and older brothers immigrated from Palestine the year before he was born. There is no Christmas celebration in Islam, however the Blackstone family, like others in his hometown, took advantage of the opportunities that the season provided including recognition of appreciation for others, blessings through gift giving (supported by many attractive deals), and valuable time spent away from work and with friends and family. Because of this Blackstone has always had a fond appreciation for the Christmas and overall holiday season -- he looks forward to the transformative effect the season has on others. Now that he is grown, his time with the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers was the first time that he has been away from family for the holiday season (other than a little but in college due to his football schedule there). He must stay in Myrtle Beach this year for Christmas because of his new training schedule, so he'll spend time with teammates who celebrate Christmas. He is looking forward to growing more in appreciation of the holiday.

What is Mako's plan for Christmas I hear you ask? Well let me tell you. Well Mako has a rather large family and loves to head back to England to spend time with them all. Unfortunately for Mako he does not get much time away from his sporting commitments as well as the many sponsorship endorsements that take up his and not to mention the charitable causes that he supports (although he doesn't like to talk about that, as it is vulgar to self promote ones good deeds). With all this in mind he mistake the most of his limited time with his family over Christmas. Because of this and the large size of his family Mako has started a new Mendonca tradition over the Christmas period. Come Christmas week when Mako is free of his commitments for a whole 7 days, rather than running round his various families houses he rents out a giant country house in the Somerset countryside, this is a 20 bedroom manor with pool, games room, not forgetting chef and butler on site, so all his family to stay here with him over Christmas so they can make the most of spending the time together and properly relax.

I am going to make a return trip to the East Bay Area and celebrate Christmas with some close family and friends. The last few seasons, I fly in the day before Christmas Eve and stay with my parents. I will usually spend the first night in a hotel and spend Christmas Eve in my old room. My brother will also fly in and spend Christmas Eve in his old room. Family will come from all around and we have bit of a party with some games and such on Christmas Eve. After 9pm, we send the kids off to one of the upstairs rooms and turn on a holiday movie for them. After the kids are occupied, the adults will bust out some egg nog and alcohol for some adult beverages. I will usually bring a few prizes to give out during our family, drunken, holiday trivia games. After that, most of the family will filter out to their respective hotels, and the rest will cozy up in spare rooms and on couches at my parents place. All of the dads will then don Santa hats and we will place the presents of the kids who stayed, under the Christmas tree before we, ourselves, retire for the night.

The next day, we all wake up bright and early and open the gifts for all of the kids in attendance. Once the rest of the family gets back over the house, we continue to open presents until every one has been opened. Following the presents, we pour a few more adult beverages and start in on holiday brunch/lunch. The adults will watch some basketball games while the kids test out all of the presents they received. It is a great time and I love spending the time with my family. No matter where I am, I always make sure I able to get back to Oakland for Christmas.

The family, oh sorry my teammates, together celebrated Christmas. The evening started with a trip a ways up north with teammates and family to deal with stress in the snow with sledding, snowmen and possibly a snowball fight. Well the last bit was unplanned until Inspectah Deck or Victor Moreno, they both blame the other, tossed the initial snowball at RB Jed York. I personally believe it was a throw from Aaron Blocksdale aiming for our HC, but due to his inaccuracy he missed (love ya Avon ????). This lead to an all out war, every man for himself. Rookie vs rookie. Offense vs defense. After a ceasefire was called, the team headed into the log cabin and prepared a winters feast. The team recounted Christmases past and looked forward to the upcoming playoffs. We laughed. We cried. And finally we ate and drank like kings. As the evening came to a close, the team boarded the bus ready to push for home field advantage and later playoffs.
