(S1) - Weekend PT #5 - Top 50 - Stormblessed - 07-08-2017 Stormblessed has picked up the Outlaws (after he dropped them), put them on his back and almost single-handedly dragged them to the title game. That’s why he should be top 10. Forget top 50. Playing as the NSFL’s version of Tyreek Hill, there is no more fearsome weapon in the entire league. There’s an old saying when a corner lines up against a wide-out with a speed freak like Storm; “if he’s even, he’s leavin.’” What that means in one on one coverage, if Storm is running a nine route and if the corner is even with Storm, he’s gone. Unfortunately, the stat sheet was left with broken opportunities. Barely cracking 50 catches, that finished 13th in the league. He also led the league in drops by a country mile. His quarterback abandoned him to study “cocaine”. Despite these problems, Storm finished in sixth in receiving yards and led the league in yards per catch by almost a full two yards – no player was more respected by opposing corners, routinely allowing underneath routes in order to prevent a deep ball. He also finished second in touchdowns. He was also the most dynamic returner in the league. Only returning kicks and not punts due to coaching ineptitude, Storm ran back a 97 yard kickoff for a touchdown in the AFSC semi-final to polish off the game and send the Outlaws to the finals. Top 10. 234 words (S1) - Weekend PT #5 - Top 50 - Darnellthebeast - 07-08-2017 Of all the defensive players who wish to make the top 50 player list, Isaiah Rashad, one of the leaders of the outlaws defense, certainly has the best case. The defensive player of the year candidate leads the league in interceptions; the next highest player only has five. That's correct, Rashad has twice as many interceptions as the next top player. This shows Rashad is far and away the best defensive back in the league. Rashad also leads the league in passes defensed with 22; four more than the next highest. Even while knocking down nearly every pass thrown by the quarterback, Rashad still finds the time to make tackles; he is second in strong safeties with 59 tackles. In addition, Rashad also has a defensive touchdown on the year, showing he can do it all. Rashad's diverse ability in stopping both the run game along with the passing attack make Rashad one of the top players in the National Simulation Football League. It would be ridiculous for Isaiah to miss the top 50 players list when he belongs among the top players in the league. Rashad can help take responsibility for making the Outlaws have the most interceptions out of any team in the league. Words 206. (S1) - Weekend PT #5 - Top 50 - RainDelay - 07-08-2017 When it comes to the Top 50, it's pretty safe to say that SaberCats receiver Bailey Cook is a lock to be on the list. That is why I'm going to talk about someone who I think gets less recognition, but is just as deserving. That player is SaberCats linebacker A.C. Hackett. Hackett has a rather quiet presence around the boards, but he makes his presence known on the field. He had 93 tackles, which was good enough to be seventh in the league and 6 sacks in the NSFL's inaugural season. His tackling ability is the skill he prides himself most on, but that is not to say that other areas are lacking. His speed is another skill that Hackett can hang his hat on, and he looks to continue to increase all his abilities by putting in his due dilligence in the weight room and training facilities. Alexander Selich is most talked about because of his original talent, but if Hackett's dedication continues to beat out that of his counterpart, he will surely be THE linebacker in San Jose and an easy shoe-in for the Top 50 this year and maybe for the rest of his career, which is hopefully a long one. (S1) - Weekend PT #5 - Top 50 - :.Elite.: - 07-08-2017 I was going to try my hardest to reach out and discover a guy who may not be considered top 50 and give my best argument for him. However, I don't know the league very well as of right now, so that probably would not have been a productive use of my time. Instead I want to talk about Chris Orosz, quarterback of the Yellowknife Wraiths. Orosz did not post the best overall numbers among the quarterbacks in the league but he was one of the better ones going. Finishing second in yards with 2,858 and third in touchdowns with 14 he helped lead Yellowknife into the playoffs. He certainly had a lot of help with top wide received Josh Garden on his team but at the same time you could make the argument that he did well to utilize a great talent to it's fullest. The biggest key that jumps out about Orosz to me is his completion percentage. He completed 57.8% of his passes, good for third, in the most amount of pass attempts. That shows that he had good poise in the pocket and wasn't out there just throwing it willy nilly. He also had the highest quarterback rating at 77.6 among qualifying players. Do I think he is the most talented quarterback in the league? Not necessarily but I do think he had one of the better and most efficient seasons which should easily place him in the top 50 players of this league. Words: 248 (S1) - Weekend PT #5 - Top 50 - Bwestfield - 07-08-2017 Lincoln Jefferson is is very deserving of being in the top 50. There is no doubt about that. With Jefferson taking the lead with the Outlaws he was able to do some heavy damage to opposing secondaries. He is a big strong target for his quarterback and very difficult to cover. He has the speed and agility you would want from a top level performer and the strength and endurance to keep it going all game long. This is but an early career for him but you can expect to see it last. He may not be on the Outlaws next year but I have no doubt he will be able to mimic this year’s production again next year with the Liberty. Jefferson has the ability to line up in any position and run any route asked by his coach. He is one of the most versatile players in this league. I would imagine he could play at linebacker if he wanted. He landed 7th overall in yards just sitting 8 yards behind his counterpart Stormblessed. He also brought down 6 touchdowns which puts him at 4th among wideouts (Westfield, Garden, Stormblessed). This man better be ranked high as he was incredibly valuable to the team all year and now they are looking forward to a championship. He did great in the playoffs and we’ll see what he has to say in the championship game next week.Great job this year and good luck next year! (S1) - Weekend PT #5 - Top 50 - adam2552 - 07-08-2017 One player that definitely deserves to be in the top 50 is Arizona Outlaws defensive back Isaiah Rashad. The safety that has been lining up at cornerback this season has dominated opponents and been a leader on the defense. Rashad leads all other players with 10 interceptions, the next highest player only has 5 interceptions. Fans that have followed the Outlaws know that Rashad shows up on the biggest stages too. In his four regular season games versus the rival Orange County Otters, Rashad intercepted seven passes and defended an additional seven passes. When the Outlaws defeated the Otters in the playoffs, Rashad was still a force defensively, recording five tackles and defending three passes. When compared to other defensive backs he stacks as one of the best. Among DBs, he is 11th in tackles with 59. As previously mentioned he has twice as many interceptions than any other player. He has also broken up more pass plays than any other player with 22, the next highest is 18. In a league where passing the ball successfully is such an important facet, defending the pass becomes just as important. There is not a better defender against the pass in this league than Isaiah Rashad, and that is why he is a top 50 player. (S1) - Weekend PT #5 - Top 50 - Muford - 07-08-2017 One player people keep sleeping on for the Top 50 of the NSFL has to be Alex Hansen. As a safety for the Yellowknife Wraiths, he has been a core member of that defensive unit. Mr. Hansen through the 14 games of the season has averaged 5.2 tackles a game at safety, totaling 74. He also has a forced fumble, three sacks, one interception, and one pass deflection. The “Big” stats were lacking for Hansen but that doesn’t take away from his overall play. He alone leads ALL safeties in tackles. That is a huge feat, meaning as a last line of defense he’s there to get the stops when it matters. A lot of people just look past the safety position, because of how it’s believed that cornerbacks are more important. Safeties are the Quarterback of the defense, they read the offense and help to make the plays when it’s needed to get the stops needed. Alex Hansen is one of the few safeties that actually line up in the middle of the field, and you don’t see that as often as you would like to anymore. If anything, Mr. Hansen should be top 50, for the work he continually puts in under the radar, he might not be the most popular name, or loudest, but he does what he needs to do on the field. (227 words) (S1) - Weekend PT #5 - Top 50 - Apache_Chief - 07-08-2017 Why should Franklin Harris be in the Top 50 Players? Well, why the hell not? 'Lunchtime' is named that for his ability to eat up interior line pressure and allow the rest of the defense to get home. While he was in Baltimore, he opened up the path for the league leader in tackles, Kurt Hendrix. When he made his way over to the Otters, he helped create the most dangerous D-Line in the league next to other potential and very-likely top 50 players J. J. Reigns, Adamle Tomlinson and Romeo Devitt. But to top off the pitch for Harris' addition to the top 50, he wasn't just in a support role, he got work done on his own as well. He attained a modest 12 sacks throughout his rookie season, as well as 56 tackles. Those are not chump numbers. Those are top 50 numbers. While Harris might not be a chart topper on this list, to leave him off would be a mistake. Hopefully voters see this pitch as well as see his recent success in the pro-eating circuit and find Harris a spot on the list. (All Voters will also receive a signed 'Lunchtime' Apron from Harris' new line of cook-wear.) (S1) - Weekend PT #5 - Top 50 - DELIRIVM - 07-08-2017 I could talk about Jonathon Saint, but everyone knows Saint is one of the top 10 players in the entire league. He's one nasty motherfucker and nobody needs to explain. But I will talk a bit about my own player and his partner in crime, Wyatt Fulton. Fulton has been considered a middle of the pack linebacker by many this season despite being part of the best duo of linebackers in the entire NSFL. While Saint set the pace for the Colorado Yeti defense with his linebacker leading sack totals, Fulton played his wingman and filled in as the swiss army knife of the Yeti backer corps. Fulton was a monster in pass defense for the Yeti this season and has not only picked off a pass but lead all linebackers in pass deflections. Adding on top of that a very solid tackles total at 76 over the regular season. He also was third in Linebacker sacks - only behind teammate Saint and Ernston of the Outlaws. Saint and Fulton teamed up for more sacks than nearly every other linebacking group (3 to 4 players each) combined. Their ability to generate pressure on the quarterback was unmatched from their position in the NSFL and they look to be a deadly duo as the years pass. Saint and Fulton are the class of pressure linebackers. While not having the tackle totals of some other linebackers, they generate far more pressure and allow the defensive line and safeties to play a much more physical game. Wyatt Fulton must be considered among the top linebackers in the entire league and should be considered a top 50 talent. While his teammate Saint is one of the best in the league. Fulton is among the best at his position. (288 Words) (S1) - Weekend PT #5 - Top 50 - Saliva^ - 07-08-2017 While I'm pretty sure that Clee Hardrool is the obvious #1 player in the whole league, I think that Alexander Selich should be in the TOP 50 as well, despite of his laziness on the practice field. First of all, we can't ignore his 128 tackles, good for second in the league. That's already enough to put him on this list, but also he has another solid stats, like 3 tackles for loss, 1 forced fumble, 7 sacks, 1 interceptions and 6 passes deflected. These are good numbers enough to have him as more than just a TOP 50 player. Maybe he'll even be able to make the TOP 20 as his defensive game helped the struggling Sabercats team to not suck even more. I'm not saying that San Jose had bad defenders as some of them also had some decent numbers, but Selich was doing what the linebacker is supposed to do - not allowing opponents to make a long rushes. So say what you want about Selich's commitment to this game, but his stats are showing to us he's a TOP 50 player at least. I don't know how he's going to perform in the next season, but for now he's one of the best defenders in the NSFL league. |
