(S20) - Ultimus Week - StamkosFan - 02-17-2020 SHL PT Code: 6) Expansion Code: 8) Scouting Report Code: 9) Brotherly Love I have a soft spot for the Yellowknife Wraiths, they are the team that I spent the majority of my career with with my old player. They always believed in me, making the move to trade for me when I was young and unproven, and keeping me around even through some tough decisions in an expansion draft where they had to leave someone off the list. They were generous and accommodating to my wishes, giving me a wonderful contract, and I hope that they have nothing but success. If there is a team that deserves to win, it's Yellowknife. They are the sort of team that every player hopes to wind up on and that anyone would be willing to spend their whole career with. They've always been well run too, with smart management that makes astute decisions. They draft incredibly well, with scouting that takes into consideration every angle on a player, and they instantly make that player feel right at home. The locker room is buzzing, one of the more lively and energetic chats that a player could be involved with. I just love everything about them and I truly wish them all the best; if things turn out right, I may end up with them again with my new player. (S20) - Ultimus Week - TrickyTroy2 - 02-17-2020 1. I predict that the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers will demolish Minnesota in the DSFL Championship! With our great defense lead by speedy Rapid Eagle, their star players dont stand a chance. Larry Longshot on the end just waiting for a runnung back to test me and my block shedding abilities, the running back will be down before you know it. The offense isnt nothing to shrug about either. We just dropped forty three points in the conference championship and made it look very easy. The explosiveness of our offense is mind blowing and the hands that our receivers have are to die for. Not only are our on the field abilities going to win us the game, but our activity in the clubhouse will keep our spirits up and keep us hype for when we demolish Minnesota. Our GM Aurora and Frostbite put in work since day one to make sure the team was as stacked as it could possibly be. Making some late round steals and some great pickups all around the draft was just the start of this championship run! It will all come down to one game and one game only, but I trly have no dount that we will prevail in the matchup and be named Champions! Once we do, we will be going to Disney World! 4. I'd say my bigged rival would have to be Juniped Catfish. We are on the same team in another fake league and we always put ourselves up for the test. Despite him being a running back as I am a Defensive end, we really cannot relate too much. We played football in my back yard a lot over many summers when we were in high school, but when he left to go to North Carolina State University, I couldnt stand the kid. He knew that college was the one college that he had an offer from that I despised and we cut off communication from each other the day he signed papers to go there. It meant that much to me that he went there and that he would choose college over our friendship. Well, now that we are in the big leagues, I hate him even more for being on Norfolk. Even though he had no choice on where to go, he is still on an opponents team that we have to destroy at least once in a season. We played once this season and I absolutely decked him and stood on top of him and hacked a big loogie right onto his forehead. I had been waiting for that moment for quite some time and it was that unsportsmanlike conduct that I received for it was well worth it. He knew not to run to my side the rest of the game and did just that to avoid from me running im over again. He is just a scared little panda that doesn't know what he got himself into and cannot find a way to get out of it. 10. If I were to make some changes to the league, I would start out with the simulation itself. It can really use some work with the glitchyness with it. It is hard to keep up with and it sometimes skips plays that it shows and you then become lost and end up just paying attention to the statline. If we could get a group of people to help with coding or help the simulation run better, I would one hundred percent make that be the number one priority. the dots could stay since the simulation has so many problems in itslef. I believe this would push the league even further and would make more people want to watch the streams and games if they werent so glitchy. I would also add more options to earn TPE. There should be more ways to bet your TPE or money on simulated games throughout the season. This could add a whole new component on how you could earn TPE just like how you could bet in real life to earn money with different betting sites and fantasy sports. T also believe that the forum could use some updating and that it could be improved to be more technical savvy. I know that if it wasn't for the group of people that I joined with that helped me understand the forum, I probably wouldve left the game in all due to the site specifically. 20. If you havent heard of the recent news, Leon McDavid and I just signed a deal with Nike in their most recent sponsor search. We stared in their new commercial in Myrtle Beach inside our stadium. We are filmed going against eachother in practice going all out. We go from blocking each other to me defending his routes which obviously did not go well for me but its all for the commercial. Leon has had an incredible season so far as we look to become champions of the DSFL. It has been an amazing run and this sponsor advertisment will be the cherry on top to an outstanding season after we win the Ultimas. Overall we were able to meet many famous people making this advertisment like Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes, and many more star players that have seen our progression in this league and have enjoyed watching. We even made the local newspaper with the headline, "Buccaneers look to ship off to Minnesota to win the Ultimas!" It was about our success this season on and off the field. We enjoy doing well on the field but its all about what the community thinks of us at the end of the day. Any time we can help out, we try to and I personally know that Leon McDavid and I always do our best to do just that. (S20) - Ultimus Week - flyeaglesfly29 - 02-17-2020 Ultimus Pass (S20) - Ultimus Week - 2Burkeulosis - 02-17-2020 6) Expansion Written: There have been a lot of new players entering the league recently. If you were in charge of a new expansion team for the NSFL or DSFL, how would you go about it? A few hours before I started this post, it was announced that two new DSFL expansion teams had been commissioned, so for the purposes of this post I will be answering the question "How would I run a DSFL expansion team if given the opportunity?" Well for starters it's all about location. While the league covers a wide variety of locations in and beyond the United States I was shocked to discover that there were no New York based teams my first act would be to rectify this. Second success in football starts at culture and I plan on creating a winning culture. This starts with me being the type of leader that players can have faith in. Second filling this team with a core of rookies that are eager to prove themselves and giving them every opportunity to prove their worth. Then surround that young core with a handful of well respected veterans on both sides of the ball to help run the show, and guide the rookies to greatness. Finally building up an audience of fans and supporters to cheer on the team. In a market as big as New York numbers isn't going to be a problem. The problem is going to be getting them on our side. New Yorkers are a notoriously tough crowd and are not easily impressed. If we want to get them on our side we need to come out swinging on opening day and then keep going for the rest of the season. At the bear minimum we will need to at least look competitive for our first couple of seasons. If we do that then I believe the future will be wide open for this new team. 8. Scouting Report The following is a scouting report on Susan Cash.Jr. A Wide receiver from CSU who has declared for the DSFL draft. Physical Description: One of the physically stronger Wide receivers in this year's draft. The kid has no real injury history to speak of. Never missed a game in college. (although it is worth noting his lack of serious playing time for most of his career see weakness below.) Good height. Abilities: A focused individual who stays cool under pressure. Came in clutch during third downs and made the most of his red zone opportunities. A well rounded athlete, but does not excel at anything in particular. Weaknesses: The most glaring one is his lack of experience. Only three years as a Wide receiver and only one as his school’s WR1. He also has no playoff experience so despite his stellar senior year weather or not he can make that jump to the pros is questionable at best. On top of all that possible discipline issues. He got into several fist fights during his time on the field at CSU and allegedly one fight off the field (though I have been unable to confirm this.) When asked about this he said “They were being bullies and I don’t like bullies.” Summation: While he is definitely a bit of a gamble the payoff is certainly worth considering. He may not be the most experienced player he has shown he has the ability to adapt and grow into a very good player. I’m not sure I would call him a superstar but stranger things have happened in this league. 11. Interview a Star My guest today is TE Rainier Wolfcastle @thefrowntownclown. My questions will be in the regular font and Rainier's answers will be in bold font. 1. I’m sure everyone already knows the answer to this one, but why don’t we start by telling the folks back home what’s your name, what team do you play for, what position, and how long have you been in the league? 1.As good a place to start as any. I'm Rainier Wolfcastle, tight end for the DSFL Champion Minnesota Grey Ducks, just finished my first season in the D and going into the NSFL draft this year. 2.How did you get your start in this league? How did you find the league? What about it drew you in? 2.Like many of this year's NSFL draft I joined before the season with a big group of guys from another league, Major League Redditball. Our season is winding down and my team has been out of the playoff hunt for a while so I decided to give it a shot. What I found was not just a fun league, but another place with funny and chill people to hang out with on discord. 3.How has the league changed since you got here? 3.It's obviously cliché but its been a reminder to change the things I can change and breath about the things I can't. I talk with my team about my stats between games or sometimes an odd piece of strategy, but once the sim starts there's nothing to be done. Just sit, watch, and hope the changes I made help. If they do or don't is fine, just more information to use for the next change. 4.Any advice for rookies starting out? Any pitfalls they should try to avoid? 4.Biggest piece of advice I can give is talk to everyone. Your GM, vets in the room, and other new teammates is obvious, but everyone else around the league will help you. It's better for all of us if everyone has fun, so it's really unlikely you'll encounter anybody intentionally giving you bad advice. 5.Last question. Anything you want to say to your fans, your friends, or your enemies? Anything you want to plug? 5.Yes I'd like to thank all of my fans for sticking with me not only through the ups and downs of my season but also through all five McBain movies. You are the best fans on the planet and I do what I do for you. (S20) - Ultimus Week - Rising Equinox - 02-18-2020 3) Revenge Generally, I would say it's not a good thing to keep grudges or want revenge against a certain group of people, but this is a simulation football league, not real life. I wouldn't necessarily say there's one specific team I'd want "revenge" against, but more the league as a whole. There seemed to be a general understanding around the league this season that the Otters were evil and needed to be stopped. Well, after three consecutive Ultimus championships, you guys finally did it. Congratulations. But, did you really think we were gone for good? We had A LOT of bad luck this season with the sim, and although you never know what the sim is going to do, we plan on coming back with an even stronger roster next season. We may have lost, but we also have the #1OA pick in the upcoming draft and several other picks to work with. Our management decided it was best to make some trades specifically for this moment. You thought you took us down, but the trust is, we were planning for this moment. We're not done yet. The Otters have had 20 consecutive playoff appearances. Yes, we've never missed the playoffs, and we don't plan to anytime soon either. ![]() 5) Armchair GM Well, this is a rather interesting topic to write about. If I'm being honest, I feel like our GM's have already made several big moves in order to prepare for next season. They were planning for next season before the current season was over. You can have whatever opinion you want about the trades we made, but I personally feel like they were good for our future. We traded away a key player or two, but we got a lot in return, and we have plans in place for what we're going to do. So, in regards to trades and the draft, I feel like we're in a pretty good place already for next season. The one place I think we could really make some big moves in is free agency. Last off-season, we didn't do much, if anything, in free agency, because we just didn't have the cap space to work with. This time though, due to the trades we made and contract details, we actually have some room to work with. If we make a big free agency move, the Otters could come out next season just as strong, if not stronger than before. That's all you can really hope for your GM's to do for your team. Not look past the present, while also preparing for the future. 6) Expansion This is a fantastic question! If I found myself in charge of an expansion team, you know what I would do? I would trade away literally everything I could and try to get the team disbanded and removed from the league as soon as possible. The entire idea of a league expansion and an expansion draft is freaking ridiculous. I honestly can't even believe it's being considered again so soon after the last one. I do believe the last expansion was necessary. There just wasn't enough teams in the league for the influx of players. But, anyone actually considering voting for an expansion, have you looked at the Butchers and Copperheads recently? How many seasons has it been since they were created? The Butchers are still the laughing stock of the league, and the Copperheads finally got lucky enough in the sim to make the playoffs. This is nothing against the GM's of those two teams. I have respect for them for taking a position where they were set up for failure from the start. But, this league, as a simulation league, isn't designed for expansion, especially in such a short time after the last one. I honestly urge all of HO to reconsider this, if you're actually thinking about voting for this. If you vote for another expansion, there will literally be users who have had their player go through two expansion drafts. That's actually stupid, and I hope you all realize this. This league is a community. Our teams are a community. For the most part, we love our teammates. Why would you intentionally force us out of our LR's just for the simple idea of having shiny new expansion teams that will be nothing but a joke to the league for seasons to come? 10) Reform Hahaha. Seriously, thank you whoever is making up these writing prompts. First, I think the concept of HO is fine, but, as a whole, it needs some changes. It works fine when it works, but when it doesn't, it's absolutely awful. The people in power should not put the league in such a state of hostility every single time they make a decision. I believe should work more on a representative level. A great example of this is how the Bex punishment vote was handled. It could've been handled much better, and the end result could've been better, but that was also heavily influenced by the timing of the vote with the r/NFL post. The vote took into account the actual opinion of the league for once. That is awesome. I don't agree with the outcome, but that's just how it works. I think HO should work like that much more often, if not all the time. I also think the position of Commissioner should be abolished as whole, with the duties being distributed among all of HO. Giving someone such a title, when they are actually of no higher authority than any other HO member is completely pointless, and it only leads to unnecessary controversy. I think the current Commissioner should become a regular HO member just like all the others, and rules should actually be put in place in regards to punishment for HO members and abuse of powers. I mean, actual written rules in the rule book, not just an understanding of the "Don't be a dick" rule. (S20) - Ultimus Week - rapideagle - 02-18-2020 Quote:6) ExpansionIntroducing the Tennessee Raccoon! ![]() Quote:20) Ultimus AdHulu Has Live Sports ![]() Quote:15) SuperstardomMy teammate, DSFL superstar safety Prince Vegeta on this year's ESPN Body Issue Magazine ![]() Quote: 13) Get Interviewed by a FanInterview by Devaunte Sackpieder (S20) - Ultimus Week - NicholasTheGreat - 02-18-2020 Rivalry - Tom Sacamano is Bruce Buckley’s greatest rival, throughout their regular twitter beef, arguments have brought up harsh feelings about one another. Both players are Offensive Line Prospects who are looking to be drafted in the upcoming DSFL draft. Differences in their personalities have been apparent in recent days ever since their desire to enter the draft has been known. Sacamano is completely ready to pay his dues and do the time that is needs to be a prominent figure in both the DSFL and the NSFL whereas Buckley is of the belief that he is above the developmental league and is ready to become a prominent figure on any offensive line in the big leagues. \ This rivalry is only simmering at the moment but at any time will burst and become a massive story at the calendar moves closer to the DSFL draft. Will the GM’s be put off the by the behaviour of Buckley or will the decision come down to their effort and technique on the field. This is just one example of the hostilities that are emerging in the newest draft class, one of the biggest in NSFL history. As competition for draft position increase and the pressure is elevated, will these 2 rivals continue their hostilities and create an even worse situation? Expansion The best case for expansion would be to build the team up slowly and develop the players along the way. Going out and splashing early with big trades and free agency moves will lead to a greater result but less culture in the team environment. The best way to get an expansion side rolling is to focus on the draft and attempting to secure the best prospects you can. Bringing them up through their careers giving the team an identity as well as the fans a brand-new player for them to get excited about and follow through their careers. Setting out strong goals and plans for formations and settings and sticking to them will also improve the identity of the team setting them out from the others. The other important aspect of an expansion side has nothing to do with the people and the product on the football field. It is to have the bones of a successful team throughout. This includes competent general managers as well as quality uniforms that become the best in the league and act as a beacon to fans, who choose to move over because of the fresh new jerseys. Expansion is tough but nailing it is important for the survival of the team Scouting Report Scouting Report: Bruce Buckley Bruce Buckley is an intriguing prospect arising from Western Sydney University in Sydney Australia. Strengths: - Has a great height and weight which will be useful in the sim - Is active and about ready to improve himself. - Seemed to be a decent blocker during scouting sessions in Australia watching him play flag football. - Has extremely high self-confidence and self esteem Weaknesses: - Has not play any organisational tackle football - Did not compete in the collegiate football system. - May have attitude problems, as seen on his twitter account and his interactions with Tommy Sacamano. - Reports of him bullying individuals in his high school days. May show signs of lack of understanding. - Has not played any properly organised team sport, may have trouble cooperating. Overall An intriguing prospect whose self-belief and stature make him a highly desirable project. Red flags exist on the attitude side, but he absolutely has the ability to become the best lineman in the league, but he must put his mind to it. If I were a GM looking at Buckley, I would have to ensure the character problems can be dealt with and if they can, look at drafting him early. If he is at the top of his game, nothing will get past him. On the field and off it. Hoisting the Trophy ![]() (S20) - Ultimus Week - TommyThaMan - 02-18-2020 1. Grey Ducks 36 Coyotes 7 - Both of the playoff games in the DSFL have been blowouts so far, but this game seemed more privy to analysis. The Coyotes had great trouble getting anything going on offense. The run game was the bright spot for this team, averaging 4.6 yards per carry and 138 yards. The passing game was incredibly disappointing, with a paltry 3.7 yards per attempt with a 38.4 QBR. One wonders how the final score could have changed had the Coyotes focus more on the ground game. On the other side, the defense couldn’t manage a single sack. The Coyotes’ 5 tackles for loss is 4 better than the Ducks could manage. The Coyotes also achieved 9 total penalties on the offensive line alone. This accounts for so many yards that they could’ve used to march down the field with their run game. The Ducks’ Quarterback play was very solid, with 7.1 yards per attempt, along with no touchdowns and no interceptions. The defense managed 3 sacks and an interception, which was more than enough to hold the Coyotes to only 7 points. Two great defenses will face off next week in the Ultimini. Let’s hope for a better game than this first round. 4. Pre-draft rookie rivalries are often trivial, immature and distracting. That doesn’t make them any less fun. As the number of rookie prospects grows and the number of Offensive Linemen remains stagnant, bonds and rivalries are bound to be formed amongst peers. Tommy Sacamano, an incoming draftee and pass blocking specialist has formed an interesting rivalry with the athletic Offensive Lineman from Australia, Broderick Buckley. A couple of friendly jabs back and forth on Twitter have surely been a distraction and ultimately they are futile. Things might get uncomfortable if they ever end up in the same locker room. After all, one of them has to be picked before the other, and it seems likely that a DSFL GM would prefer a more humble, cool-headed young man such as Tommy Sacamano, and not a brash meat head like Buckley. Not to mention the fact that pass blocking specialists are a commodity, and athletic linemen like Broderick are a dime a dozen. How often do we ever see a rugby star from down under succeed in a professional football league? Buckley seems to think he doesn’t need the DSFL, but sadly for hot-shot Linemen like him, it’s mandatory. Soon we will find out how in over his head this bold young man is. 8. The number of prospects is many. The number of Linemen are few. The Linemen are large. One of the big young men in the upcoming DSFL draft is Tommy Sacamano from the University of Louisiana-Monroe. Although his competition in college was sub-par he was able to dominate his opponents with ease, only allowing a handful of sacks his entire career. Offensive Linemen that have a knack for giving their quarterback the precious time they need to complete a crucial completion are highly sought after, and this should result in Tommy being one of the first blockers off the board. While his run blocking is less than most teams would desire, he makes up for it with his natural talent of protecting the team’s most valuable asset. His strength needs some work, but that will improve over time as he acclimates to the better competition of the DSFL and NSFL. His ideal position for the greatest impact on his team would be the tackle position. He mostly played at right tackle in college, but he has some experience in the left tackle position. Speed might be a concern when trying to keep up with the quick linebackers in the NSFL, so maybe he should stay away from pulling and the screen plays. (S20) - Ultimus Week - Vorshayla - 02-18-2020 1) Playoff Predictions, Reviews: Written: Give a short write up of one or multiple playoff matches. If completed before the airing of the sims, give your predictions; if it is afterwards, give a review of the game. Myrtle Beach vs Minnesota I don't think this game will be as close as some of the pundits are saying. Myrtle Beach is coming in riding a season high 10 game winning streak while boasting the league's best defensive unit of all time. Not just of the season, of ALL TIME. It's no coincidence that after adding generational talent HeHateMe PickSix to their already stellar defense, the Bucs have won 10 straight games while decreasing their points allowed week after week. The offense is on fire as well, driving deep with every possession to allow for easy red zone points. Minnesota may have had a similar record and a high powered offense, but the only time they faced the revamped Myrtle Beach defense, they held that offense to 3 points. Three. On their home turf. Three. They say that home field advantage is a big factor in these things. The truth of the matter is, Myrtle Beach are road warriors, we have so many fans everywhere that any road game is a home game. The trash talking has already begun, and Minnesota knows they can't score points against this once in a lifetime generational defense lead by team captain Vegeta. Don't embarrass yourselves further Grey Ducks. Just stay home on Wednesday. 5) Armchair GM Written: What moves could your team make to improve for the next year, be it in free agency, keeping players, the draft, etc. (Please be careful to avoid tampering.) If I was the GM of Myrtle Beach, I would try to work out a deal with all the NSFL teams that drafted my draft-eligible players this year so that we could get the band back together for a farewell tour. The team has started to gel extremely well and I think if we get all of our starters back we can defend the Ultimini crown and have a perfect season. I would also take a look at where we can improve in terms of low TPE inactive players and draft based on positional need, and not on best player available as we already have a very solid foundation. I also would keep the locker room tight and active at all times, something that has proven to be a tremendous success as the current general manager's do that already. Lastly, I would explore trades before the draft to target specific players if I think they would suit the teams needs. I would also look at making trades with other teams to weaken their position of strength by either acquire star players for lesser star players, or taking away their high draft picks to limit their draft success. Subterfuge and sabotage often go hand in hand afterall 8) Scouting Report Written: Write a scouting report for one of the incoming draftees in either the NSFL or DSFL. HeHateMe PickSix - NSFL Draftee HeHateMe PickSix is a generational cornerback that has been generating quite a bit of buzz during his DSFL season. Described by many as having a big mouth, with skills to back it up, the only knock on him is that some teams may take his "confident" attitude as a red flag especially when teams don't win right away. PickSix got off to a slow start in his DSFL career as his first 6 games was with a Portland team that didn't seem to have the atmosphere and winning attitude that PickSix brings to a team. After a mid-season trade to Myrtle Beach however, he exploded onto the scene and showed scouts and GM's alike what this generational CB has to offer. He finished 2nd in interceptions with 5, and finished 2nd in Pass Defended with 19. These numbers are made even more impressive when you factor in that he did that all in 8 games. Showing GM's that he's not just a one trick pony, he also pulled off a blocked punt in the last game of the season, and most recently in the semi finals of the playoffs, forced 2 fumbles to add to his already impressive stat line for the season. This is a can't miss prospect, the only question is, where will be go in the draft, and which team will overlook his mouth and potential distraction in their locker room to select this future Hall of Famer. 12) Interview a Star Written: Interview a player who is in either of the league’s playoffs this year. You must ask at least four questions, at least three of which must relate to the league. YOU MUST POST THE QUESTIONS AND THEIR ANSWERS FOR CREDIT. Vegeta was the interviewee Question 1) MB ended their season on a tear winning 9 games. How big of an impact was HeHateMe PickSix to this streak? What has he brought to the team? 1) HeHateMe served as great depth to an already stellar defense. We gave him a spot in a better system where he can show off his skills a little bit in a low pressure CB2 environment and he has flourished since. He has brought attitude and toughness along with his quality play on the field and it has definitely helped the Buccaneers dominate the DSFL defensively. Question 2) You were recently voted team captain by the players of MB. How will you guide the defense to victory on Wednesday 2) Gotta make sure everyone is communcating effectively and playing at the level we're used to seeing everyone play at. We need absolutely everyone to bring their all for the Ultimini game and as a captain it's my job to ensure that happens. Question 3) Along with Rotticus, Dax and HeHateMe, you were part of a legendary secondary known as the No Fly Zone. Do you think the league will ever see another fearsome secondary such as this? 3) Yeah, next season when we return for our victory laps. Otherwise, I don't really think so. Frost/Cory had done a hell of a job putting this team/defense together and I really doubt that we will see something like this again. 4) Question 4) MB's defense was amazing this year, however the offense also scored at will behind the efforts of Sarvepally. How important is it to have an offense you can count on? Does it take some of the pressure off of the MB Defense? 4) Defenses win championships but offenses win you games. You can't win games if you can't score no matter how many points you hold the other team to. Ramos and McDavid's late season surges had a lot to do with out big win streak. On the other hand Sarvepally continued his already stellar season with solid performances strung together to put pressure on other team's defenses while giving us a break. All these were important factors on offense that contributed to our win streak and our defense's dominance even (S20) - Ultimus Week - siddhus - 02-18-2020 6) Expansion Written: There have been a lot of new players entering the league recently.
